Gold‐supported Raney‐type NiZn coatings were prepared on a thin Ni film‐modified copper substrate (Cu/Ni/NiZn‐Au). The hydrogen evolution activity, time stability and corrosion behaviour of the electrode was investigated in 1 M KOH solution by electrochemical, microscopic and spectroscopic technique. It was found that Au‐modified activated coatings exhibits good hydrogen evolution activity, electrochemical and physical stability as well as corrosion resistance. The enhanced hydrogen evolution activity of the Au‐modified electrode was related to the larger available surface area and/or a possible synergistic effect between the metals. This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the effects of using recycled waste expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), as a potential aggregate in lightweight concrete. In this study, thermally modified waste EPS foams have been used as aggregate. Modified waste expanded polystyrene aggregates (MEPS) were obtained by heat treatment method by keeping waste EPS foams in a hot air oven at 130 °C for 15 min. Effects of MEPS aggregate on several properties of concrete were investigated. For this purpose, six series of concrete samples were prepared. MEPS aggregate was used as a replacement of natural aggregate, at the levels of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% by volume. The density of MEPS is much less than that of natural aggregate; MEPS concrete becomes a lightweight concrete with a density of about 900–1700 kg/m3. The 28-d compressive strengths of MEPS concrete range from 12.58 MPa to 23.34 MPa, which satisfies the strength requirement of semi-structural lightweight concrete. 相似文献

A novel catalytic kinetic method is proposed for the determination of Se(IV), Se(VI), and total inorganic selenium in water
based on the catalytic effect of Se(IV) on the reduction of Celestine blue by sodium sulfide at pH 7.0 phosphate buffer. The
fixed-time method was adopted for the determination and speciation of inorganic selenium. Under the optimum conditions, the
two calibration graphs are linear with a good correlation coefficient in the range 2–20 and 20–200 μg·L−1 of Se(IV) for the fixed-time method at 30°C. The experimental and theoretical detection limits of the developed kinetic method
were found to be 0.21 and 2.50 μg·L−1 for the fixed-time method (3 min). All of the variables that affect the sensitivity at 645 nm were investigated, and the
optimum conditions were established. The interference effect of various cations and anions on the Se(IV) determination was
also studied. The selectivity of the selenium determination was greatly improved with the use of the strongly cation exchange
resin such as Amberlite IR120 plus as long as chelating agents of thiourea and thiosulphate. The proposed kinetic method was
validated statistically and through recovery studies in natural water samples. The relative standard deviations (RSDs) for
ten replicate measurements of 2, 10, and 20 μg·L−1 of Se(IV) change between 0.35% and 5.58%, while the RSDs for ten replicate measurements of 3, 6, and 12 μg·L−1 of Se(VI) change between 0.49% and 1.61%. Analyses of a certified standard reference material (NIST SRM 1643e) for selenium
using the fixed-time method showed that the proposed kinetic method has good accuracy. The Se(IV), Se(VI), and total inorganic
selenium in lake and river water samples have been successfully determined by this method after selective reduction of Se(VI)

The management of cash flows and risk during production is a critical part of a surface mining venture as well as an integral
part of a strategy in developing new and existing operating mines. Orebody uncertainty is a critical factor in strategic mine
planning, the optimization of mine designs and long-term sequencing. Traditional optimization approaches do not account for
in situ grade variability or deal with geological risk. This paper presents a new approach to mine design based on risk quantification
and alternative strategic decision-making criteria.

Two‐dimensional transient melting of ice in a rectangular enclosure was numerically and experimentally investigated. Natural convection in the liquid phase due to the temperature dependency of water density was considered in the numerical model. The implicit finite difference method with fixed staggered grid approach was utilized. The SIMPLER algorithm was followed for the solution of pressure and velocity fields in the liquid phase. Electrical insulation is a major security problem in aerospace applications where temperature can reach relatively low values. Epoxy resins are well known as easily formable dielectric materials and can be used to prepare complex insulator parts. In this study, the electrical performance of bisphenol A/epichlorohydrin epoxy resin matrix‐based nanocomposites containing 1, 3, or 6 wt% titanium oxide (TiO2) or aluminium oxide (Al2O3) nanofillers are investigated. Composites are characterized with thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy‐coupled electron dispersive spectroscopy, and confocal Raman spectroscopy. Furthermore, the role of additives and their ratio on the resistivity performance of the composites are evaluated from 77 to 500 K by applying a direct current voltage from 1 to 20 V. It is observed that the electrical properties of the matrix are directly influencing the insulation performance of the nanocomposite. For example, the abrupt decrease at 370 K of the positive temperature coefficient of the resin for all nanocomposites. It is found that the most resistive composite contains 3 wt% TiO2 nanoparticles with a value above 3.7.1010 Ω from 77 to 370 K at 20 V. As a result, this work gives information on to the choice of appropriate insulator materials in extreme working conditions. 相似文献

The effects of expanded perlite aggregate, silica fume and fly ash on the thermal conductivity of lightweight concrete 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Thermal conductivity coefficients of concretes made up of mixtures of expanded perlite and pumice aggregates (PA) were measured. To determine the effect of silica fume (SF) and class C fly ash (FA) on the thermal conductivity of lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC), SF and FA were added as replacement for cement by decreasing the cement weights in the ratios of 10%, 20% and 30% by weight.The highest thermal conductivity of 0.3178 W/mK was observed with the samples containing only PA and plain cement. It decreased with the increase of SF and FA as replacement for cement. The lowest value of thermal conductivity, which is 0.1472 W/mK, was obtained with the samples prepared with expanded perlite aggregate (EPA) replacement of PA and 70% cement+30% FA replacement of cement. Both SF and FA had a decreasing effect on thermal conductivity. EPA (used in place of PA) also induced a decrease of 43.5% in thermal conductivity of concrete. 相似文献
