Celeste is a robust peer-to-peer object store built on top of a distributed hash table (DHT). Celeste is a working system, developed by Sun Microsystems Laboratories. During the development of Celeste, we faced the challenge of complete object deletion, and moreover, of deleting “files” composed of several different objects. This important problem is not solved by merely deleting meta-data, as there are scenarios in which all file contents must be deleted, e.g., due to a court order. Complete file deletion in a realistic peer-to-peer storage system has not been previously dealt with due to the intricacy of the problem — the system may experience high churn rates, nodes may crash or have intermittent connectivity, and the overlay network may become partitioned at times. We present an algorithm that eventually deletes all file contents, data and meta-data, in the aforementioned complex scenarios. The algorithm is fully functional and has been successfully integrated into Celeste.  相似文献

Periodontitis is a multifactorial disease. The aim of this explorative study was to investigate the role of Interleukin-(IL)-1, IL-4, GATA-3 and Cyclooxygenase-(COX)-2 polymorphisms after non-surgical periodontal therapy with adjunctive systemic antibiotics (amoxicillin/metronidazole) and subsequent maintenance in a Caucasian population. Analyses were performed using blood samples from periodontitis patients of a multi-center trial (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT00707369=ABPARO-study). Polymorphisms were analyzed using quantitative real-time PCR. Clinical attachment levels (CAL), percentage of sites showing further attachment loss (PSAL) ≥1.3 mm, bleeding on probing (BOP) and plaque score were assessed. Exploratory statistical analysis was performed. A total of 209 samples were genotyped. Patients carrying heterozygous genotypes and single-nucleotide-polymorphisms (SNP) on the GATA-3-IVS4 +1468 gene locus showed less CAL loss than patients carrying wild type. Heterozygous genotypes and SNPs on the IL-1A-889, IL-1B +3954, IL-4-34, IL-4-590, GATA-3-IVS4 +1468 and COX-2-1195 gene loci did not influence CAL. In multivariate analysis, CAL was lower in patients carrying GATA-3 heterozygous genotypes and SNPs than those carrying wild-types. For the first time, effects of different genotypes were analyzed in periodontitis progression after periodontal therapy and during supportive treatment using systemic antibiotics demonstrating a slight association of GATA-3 gene locus with CAL. This result suggests that GATA-3 genotypes are a contributory but non-essential risk factor for periodontal disease progression.  相似文献

In the request-based scheme, a patching channel is initiated on arrival of a request in an interarrival time of two adjacent multicast channels. If two requests are received in a short duration in an interarrival time, two patching channels are needed to service them. Both these channels deliver almost the same data, thus, wasting the bandwidth. This problem may be addressed in two ways: using higher level patching technique, or forcing the first request to wait for the second one. Using higher level patching technique makes the system more complex and thus usually not preferred. In the second case, the bandwidth usage certainly reduces, but the length of the waiting time by the first request for the second request is the main issue. In this paper, this issue is addressed by dividing the video duration into uniform time slots such that there is at least one request in a time slot for initiating the patching channel. The proposed scheme is named as Video Data Delivery using Slotted Patching. In this scheme, the patching channels download much less video data than the request-based scheme and thus require less bandwidth. This scheme may not provide immediate services to all users unlike the request-based scheme, but the user's waiting can be made arbitrarily small without using much resources unlike the request-based scheme.  相似文献

We report structural,optical,and ferroelectric behaviors of lithium-doped copper oxide(Cu1-xLixO with x =0.0,0.05,0.07,and 0.09) nanostructures synthesized by hydrothermal method.The XRD pattern indicates the pure phase formation of CuO without any impurity,and the crystallite size is found to be increases for x =0–0.07 and decreases for x =0.09.FESEM analysis shows that the average size of Cu1-xLixO nanostructures increases with the increasing the Li-doping concentrations up to 7% and then decreases for 9% Li doping concentration.Moreover,Raman and photoluminescence spectrum also confirm the phase formation of CuO.A significant reduction in optical band gap is observed up to x =0.07,and then band gap increases for x =0.09 due to segregation of the impurities on the surface or grain boundaries,which may suppress the grain growth and results the enhancement in optical band gap.Moreover,a weak ferroelectricity is observed in CuO nanostructures for pure and 9% Li doping through polarization versus electric field(P–E).  相似文献

Flood disasters are the most common natural risk and tremendous efforts are spent to improve their simulation and management. However, simulation-based investigation of actions that can be taken in case of flood emergencies is rarely done. This is in part due to the lack of a comprehensive framework which integrates and facilitates these efforts. In this paper, we tackle several problems which are related to steering a flood simulation. One issue is related to uncertainty. We need to account for uncertain knowledge about the environment, such as levee-breach locations. Furthermore, the steering process has to reveal how these uncertainties in the boundary conditions affect the confidence in the simulation outcome. Another important problem is that the simulation setup is often hidden in a black-box. We expose system internals and show that simulation steering can be comprehensible at the same time. This is important because the domain expert needs to be able to modify the simulation setup in order to include local knowledge and experience. In the proposed solution, users steer parameter studies through the World Lines interface to account for input uncertainties. The transport of steering information to the underlying data-flow components is handled by a novel meta-flow. The meta-flow is an extension to a standard data-flow network, comprising additional nodes and ropes to abstract parameter control. The meta-flow has a visual representation to inform the user about which control operations happen. Finally, we present the idea to use the data-flow diagram itself for visualizing steering information and simulation results. We discuss a case-study in collaboration with a domain expert who proposes different actions to protect a virtual city from imminent flooding. The key to choosing the best response strategy is the ability to compare different regions of the parameter space while retaining an understanding of what is happening inside the data-flow system.  相似文献

In this paper, novel nanoscale MOSFET with Source/Drain-to-Gate Non-overlapped and high-k spacer structure has been demonstrated to reduce the gate leakage current for the first time. The gate leakage behaviour of novel MOSFET structure has been investigated with help of compact analytical model and Sentaurus Simulation. Fringing gate electric field through the dielectric spacer induces inversion layer in the non-overlap region to act as extended S/D region. It is found that optimal Source/Drain-to-Gate Non-overlapped and high-k spacer structure has reduced the gate leakage current to great extent as compared to those of an overlapped structure. Further, the proposed structure had improved off current, subthreshold slope and DIBL characteristic. It is concluded that this structure solves the problem of high leakage current without introducing the extra series resistance.  相似文献

In this work, Diethanolamine (DEA) was considered as an activator to enhance the CO2 capture performance of Monoethanolamine (MEA). The addition of DEA into MEA system was expected to improve disadvantages of MEA on regeneration heat, degradation, and corrosivity. To understand the reaction mechanism of blended MEA‐DEA solvent and CO2, 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technique was used to study the ions (MEACOO, DEACOO, MEA, DEA, MEAH+, DEAH+, , ) speciation in the blended MEA‐DEA‐CO2‐H2O systems with CO2 loading range from 0 to 0.7 mol CO2/mol amine at the temperature of 301 K. The different ratios of MEA and DEA (MEA: DEA = 2.0:0, 1.5:0.5, 1.0:1.0, and 0:2.0) were studied to comprehensively investigate the role of DEA in the system of MEA‐DEA‐CO2‐H2O. The results revealed that DEA performs the coordinative role at the low CO2 loading and the competitive role at high CO2 loading.
