We have performed a numerical study involving the design and optimization of InP-based microdisk lasers integrated on and coupled to a nanophotonic silicon-on-insulator (SOI) waveguide circuit, fabricated through bonding technology. The theoretical model was tested by fitting it to the lasing characteristics obtained for fabricated devices, which we presented previously. A good fit was obtained using parameter values that are consistent with numerical simulation. To obtain optimized laser performance, the composition of the InP-based epitaxial layer structure was optimized to minimize internal optical loss for a structure compatible with efficient current injection. Specific attention was paid to a tunnel-junction based approach. Bending loss was quantified to estimate the minimum microdisk diameter. The coupling between the InP microdisk and Si waveguide was calculated as function of the bonding layer thickness, waveguide offset and waveguide width. To study the lateral injection efficiency, an equivalent electrical network was solved and the voltage-current characteristic was calculated. Based on these results, the dominant device parameters were identified, including microdisk thickness and radius, coupling loss and tunnel-junction p-type doping. These parameters were optimized to obtain maximum wall-plug efficiency, for output powers in the range 1-100 W. The results of this optimization illustrate the potential for substantial improvement in laser performance.  相似文献

In the present study table olives treated in field with kaolin and copper based products against “olive-fruit fly” were fermented using two selected strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB). The fermentation process was monitored up to 260 days from brining through physico-chemical, microbiological and sensorial analyses. Results showed a dominance of LAB and yeasts and low level of Enterobacteriaceae counts throughout the whole process both in un-treated and treated samples. When investigating the effect of the single treatments on microbial dynamics, ANOVA results highlighted that copper based products affected significantly the control sample, while the sample inoculated with LAB starters maintained high level throughout the process, guaranteeing the fermentation process. Different behavior was revealed by yeasts population, which was partially influenced by copper treatment at the beginning of the fermentation.The polyphasic approach used in the present study, which combined sensory evaluation to microbial counts and physico-chemical characteristics, let to the conclusion on the importance of starter cultures in fermentation of table olives especially those treated with “non-conventional” pesticide, which could be used to prevent olive fly damage.  相似文献

Knowledge of the conditions governing the initiation and propagation of cracks in hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixtures is a prerequisite for a comprehensive understanding of HMA cracking mechanisms. Traditional strain measurement sensors have proved to be not completely adequate in the sense that they do not provide pointwise measurements, thus not pinpointing the location of crack initiation, and not accounting for non-uniform strain distributions. This paper presents a digital image correlation (DIC) system for non-contact and full strain field measurements, conceived for the purpose of investigating the cracking behavior of HMA mixtures. The whole system was developed so as to account for the special nature of typical HMA testing configurations. An image matching technique (least squares matching) was employed for providing matches with sub-pixel accuracy. The performance of the method was investigated by several tests. The DIC system was shown to overcome the shortcomings of traditional on-specimen strain measurement devices achieving satisfactory accuracy compared to strain gauges.  相似文献

Novel alpha-helical antimicrobial peptides have been devised by comparing the N-terminal sequences of many of these peptides from insect, frog and mammalian families, extracting common features, and creating sequence templates with which to design active peptides. Determination of the most frequent amino acids in the first 20 positions for over 80 different natural sequences allowed the design of one peptide, while a further three were based on the comparison of the sequences of alpha-helical antimicrobial peptides derived from the mammalian cathelicidin family of precursors. These peptides were predicted to assume a highly amphipathic alpha-helical conformation, as indicated by high mean hydrophobic moments. In fact, circular dichroism experiments showed clear transitions from random coil in aqueous solution to an alpha-helical conformation on addition of trifluoroethanol. All four peptides displayed a potent antibacterial activity against selected gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (minimum inhibitory concentrations in the range 1-8 microM), including some antibiotic resistant strains. Permeabilization of both the outer and cytoplasmic membranes of the gram-negative bacterium, Escherichia coli, by selected peptides was quite rapid and a dramatic drop in colony forming units was observed within 5 min in time-killing experiments. Permeabilization of the cytoplasmic membrane of the gram-positive bacterium, Staphylococcus aureus, was instead initially quite slow, gathering speed after 45 min, which corresponds to the time required for significant inactivation in time-killing studies. The cytotoxic activity of the peptides, determined on several normal and transformed cell lines, was generally low at values within the minimum inhibitory concentration range.  相似文献

采用分光光度计法和抗氧化能量指数法对来自重庆市城口县的苦荞麦粉中总黄酮含量和抗氧化能力进行了分析。样品加热(100℃,20min,样品:水=1:2,w/v)前后,总黄酮含量为83.52mg芦丁当量/100g干重和67.38mg芦丁当量/100g干重,ORAC值为76.45μmol TE/g干重和63.93μmol TE╱g干重,损失分别达到19.32%、16.38%,呈显著差异(P<0.05)。但热处理前后的苦荞麦粉都表现出良好的抗氧化性。  相似文献

This paper is the outcome of a specific task group of the RILEM Technical Committee 241-MCD “Mechanisms of Cracking and Debonding in Asphalt and Composite Pavements”. The group on “Advanced Measurement Techniques” was established in 2011 to investigate DIC applications for non-destructive and non-contact measurements of strain fields during laboratory testing. The paper illustrates different DIC/optical flow applications in measuring strain distribution during laboratory testing. Specific applications of DIC for evaluating crack initiation and crack propagation in asphalt materials are presented.  相似文献

We discuss the origin of an additional dip other than the charge neutrality point observed in the transfer characteristics of graphene-based field-effect transistors with a Si/SiO2 substrate used as the back-gate. The double dip is proved to arise from charge transfer between the graphene and the metal electrodes, while charge storage at the graphene/SiO2 interface can make it more evident. Considering a different Fermi energy from the neutrality point along the channel and partial charge pinning at the contacts, we propose a model which explains all the features observed in the gate voltage loops. We finally show that the double dip enhanced hysteresis in the transfer characteristics can be exploited to realize graphene-based memory devices.  相似文献

The technology to fabricate CdTe/CdS thin film solar cells can be considered mature for a large-scale production of CdTe-based modules. Several reasons contribute to demonstrate this assertion: a stable efficiency of 16.5% has been demonstrated for 1 cm2 laboratory cell and it is expected that an efficiency of 12% can be obtained for 0.6 × 1.2 m2 modules; low cost soda lime float glass can be used as a substrate; the amount of source material is at least 100 times less than that used for single crystal modules and is a negligible part of the overall cost. The fabrication process can be completely automated and a production yield of one module every 2 min can be obtained, which implies a production cost substantially less than 1€/WP. A further cost reduction will render this kind of energy production competitive with the energy obtained from fossil fuels by approaching the so-called grid-parity. Some new companies have recently announced the start of production or plan to do so in the near future. Many of these plants are located in Germany, some in the USA. In Italy, a new company has been constituted in 2008, with the aim of building a factory with a capacity of 18 MW/year. In this article, we will describe and compare the basic principles of CdTe solar cells and modules. We will include an overview of the potentials of these technologies and of the R&D issues under investigation. This paper describes how the large-area mass production of CdTe solar modules is realized in the Italian factory and presents a worldwide overview of the current production activities.  相似文献
