In photobioreactors, photosynthetic microorganisms are exposed to certain light/dark cycles caused by light intensity distribution and mixing inside the photobioreactor. In this study, Haematococcus pluvialis was cultivated in an airlift and a bubble column photobioreactor, and the cell growth and astaxanthin production were compared to clarify the effects of liquid circulation.  相似文献

We applied carbon nanotube (CNT) sheets, which are high-purity and suitable for mass production, to field-emission lamps (FELs) with vacuum-sealed diode structures. Three such FELs were designed and fabricated to correspond to the field-emission characteristics of individual CNT sheets. We suppressed the variation in the anode–cathode voltage to within the range of 5.4–6.0 kV, which contributes to the light output of the FELs. The stabilities of the FELs ranged from ?0.65% to 0.26% in the short term; therefore, we confirmed that the high-purity CNT sheets were stable during operation. All FELs could be operated for 500 h without significant degradation, even when the FEL was operated in a passive vacuum instead of a dynamic vacuum.  相似文献

Building equipment, energy-saving systems, and claims of inappropriate indoor thermal environments were analyzed in relation to the floor area using responses to a questionnaire survey of service managers of 157 buildings built in Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo prefectures in Kinki area of Japan. Results show the following: (1) In smaller buildings (〈 5,000 m2), setting temperatures are higher in summer and lower in winter, effects of "uncomfortable radiation from windows" are greater, energy-saving systems decrease indoor thermal comfort, but claims of "hot" and "cold" are fewer; (2) Claims of "hot" and "cold" are unrelated to the setting temperature and whether the air-conditioning control system is central or local; (3) The adoption rates of mitigation of dress codes ("COOL-BIZ" and "WARM-BIZ") are higher than those of temperature mitigation of air conditioning.  相似文献

This paper proposes and validates a system for measuring the flexed posture of the flexible mono-tread mobile track (FMT) using a flexible displacement sensor (FDS). The FMT proposed previously has a single track and vertebral structure. The flexed posture of the FMT determines its turning radius and direction; thus, knowing its posture is important. However, it is impossible to measure the shape of flexible mobile systems using sensors located internally, such as a rotary potentiometer, or located externally, such as a laser scanner. To solve the problem, we introduce the FDS to measure the flexed FMT shape. The sensor consists of two fixed electrodes, a sliding electrode, and a nylon string coated with carbon (NSCC). It works as a flexible potentiometer by moving the sliding electrode along the NSCC while maintaining electrical contact. The measurement system is implemented in a prototype of the FMT called RT02-WORMY and is validated in a series of experiments.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a novel noncontact pulse wave monitoring method that is robust to fluctuations in illumination through use of two-band infrared video signals. Because the proposed method uses infrared light for illumination, the method can be used to detect a pulse wave on a human face without visible lighting. The corresponding two-band pixel values in the video signals can be separated into hemoglobin and shading components by application of a separation matrix in logarithmic space for the two pixel values. Because the shading component has been separated, the extracted hemoglobin component is then robust to fluctuations in the illumination. The pixel values in the region of interest were spatially averaged over all the pixels of each frame. These averaged values were then used to form the raw trace signal. Finally, the pulse wave and the corresponding pulse rate were obtained from the raw trace signal through several signal processing stages, including detrending, use of an adaptive bandpass filter, and peak detection. We evaluated the absolute error rate for the pulse rate between the estimated value and the ground truth obtained using an electrocardiogram. In the experiments, we found that the performance of the proposed method was greatly improved compared with that of conventional methods using single-band infrared video.  相似文献

Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a neurocutaneous syndrome characterized by the development of tumors of the central or peripheral nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, organs, skin, and bones. There are three types of NF: NF1 accounting for 96% of all cases, NF2 in 3%, and schwannomatosis (SWN) in <1%. The NF1 gene is located on chromosome 17q11.2, which encodes for a tumor suppressor protein, neurofibromin, that functions as a negative regulator of Ras/MAPK and PI3K/mTOR signaling pathways. The NF2 gene is identified on chromosome 22q12, which encodes for merlin, a tumor suppressor protein related to ezrin-radixin-moesin that modulates the activity of PI3K/AKT, Raf/MEK/ERK, and mTOR signaling pathways. In contrast, molecular insights on the different forms of SWN remain unclear. Inactivating mutations in the tumor suppressor genes SMARCB1 and LZTR1 are considered responsible for a majority of cases. Recently, treatment strategies to target specific genetic or molecular events involved in their tumorigenesis are developed. This study discusses molecular pathways and related targeted therapies for NF1, NF2, and SWN and reviews recent clinical trials which involve NF patients.  相似文献

Lysophospholipids have been recognized as potent biologically active lipid mediators. However, attention has not been paid to the health benefits of dietary partial hydrolysate of phospholipids (PH‐PL), which is rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)‐bound lysophospholipids. In this study, the effects of PH‐PL on serum and liver lipid profiles of rats upon administration of PH‐PL are demonstrated in comparison to those of fish oil (FO), which comprises eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and DHA‐bound triglyceride (TG). PH‐PL containing EPA and DHA was prepared via enzymatic modification of squid (Todarodes pacificus) meal that is rich in phospholipids. Male Wistar rats were fed a basal diet containing soybean oil alone (7%), FO, and PH‐PL. The FO and PH‐PL diets had similar EPA and DHA contents. After the rats had been fed their respective diets for 28 d, their serum and liver lipid contents, fecal lipid excretion, and hepatic gene expression level were measured. The results demonstrated that compared with the soybean oil diet alone, the PH‐PL diet decreased serum and liver TG contents partially because of the enhancement of liver acyl‐CoA oxidase activity and suppression of liver fatty acid synthase activity. In addition, compared with the soybean oil diet, the PH‐PL group exhibited lower serum cholesterol content at least in part because of the reduction of hepatic 3‐hydroxy‐3‐methylglutaryl‐CoA reductase mRNA expression level. We found that dietary administration of EPA and DHA containing PH‐PL has a hypolipidemic effect that may help prevent the development lifestyle‐related diseases.  相似文献
