Infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy has been used to investigate phonon and plasmon modes in Cd1-xHgxTe and CdTe thin layer on GaAs substrate. Attenuated total reflection (ATR) spectroscopy has been used to excite surface plasmon and phonon polaritons. The plasmon-LO phonon coupling modes in samples are studied by dispersion curve calculation for various carrier concentrations. There exist three branches of coupled modes in dispersion curve. For analysis of the far infrared polarized reflectivity spectra we employ the harmonic oscillator dielectiic function model and the Drude model for free carrier response. We find that the coupling modes dependent to the concentration of free carriers. Furthermore, the experimental data have been used to calculate carrier concentration, composition parameter, mobility of carrier, thickness of layer and gap energy.  相似文献

Background

Results from epidemiological studies indicate that particulate air pollution constitutes a hazard for human health. Recent studies suggest that diesel exhaust possesses endocrine activity and therefore may affect reproductive outcome. This study in mice aimed to investigate whether exposure to diesel exhaust particles (DEP; NIST 2975) would affect gestation, postnatal development, activity, learning and memory, and biomarkers of transplacental toxicity. Pregnant mice (C57BL/6; BomTac) were exposed to 19 mg/m3 DEP (~1·106 particles/cm3; mass median diameter ? 240 nm) on gestational days 9–19, for 1 h/day.

Results

Gestational parameters were similar in control and diesel groups. Shortly after birth, body weights of DEP offspring were slightly lower than in controls. This difference increased during lactation, so by weaning the DEP exposed offspring weighed significantly less than the control progeny. Only slight effects of exposure were observed on cognitive function in female DEP offspring and on biomarkers of exposure to particles or genotoxic substances.

Conclusion

In utero exposure to DEP decreased weight gain during lactation. Cognitive function and levels of biomarkers of exposure to particles or to genotoxic substances were generally similar in exposed and control offspring. The particle size and chemical composition of the DEP and differences in exposure methods (fresh, whole exhaust versus aged, resuspended DEP) may play a significant role on the biological effects observed in this compared to other studies.  相似文献

The dynamic behavior of hydro-static transmission (HST) systems is studied experimentally and theoretically to formulate a linearized mathematical model of the HST system and a recursive identification model is then proposed. A computer-controlled test rig is developed and the system state responses are measured. The results obtained from the experimental work and the linearized models are used to build a recursive identification model in order to identify the system under study. Furthermore, comparisons among the experimental, simulated, and identified results are presented. These results show that recursive identification models are powerful tools that can be used for the identification and analysis of HST. Finally, parameter variations of the volume displacement and the motor torque are introduced to the system in order to study their effect on pressure and hydraulic motor speed.  相似文献

We consider a multi-facility location problem in the presence of a line barrier with the starting point of the barrier uniformly distributed. The objective is to locate n new facilities among m existing facilities minimising the summation of the weighted expected rectilinear barrier distances of the locations of new facilities and new and existing facilities. The proposed problem is designed as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming model, conveniently transformed into a mixed-integer quadratic programming model. The computational results show that the LINGO 9.0 software package is effective in solving problems with small sizes. For large problems, we propose two meta-heuristic algorithms, namely the genetic algorithm and the imperialist competitive algorithm for optimisation. The numerical investigations illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.  相似文献

Due to their unique properties, gold nanorods (GNRs) have shown tremendous potential for advancing bio-imaging and sensing applications. As these nanoparticles display size-dependent optical properties, high aspect ratio GNRs are of particular interest for these applications because of their increased scattering contrast. While studies are emerging that demonstrate successful synthesis of high aspect ratio GNRs, their behavior and fate in a physiological environment has yet to be investigated. The goal of this study was to evaluate the rate of cellular internalization and cytotoxicity of long GNRs (aspect ratio 32) in a human keratinocyte cell line. Additionally, the critical role of surface chemistry in extent of cellular interactions and cytotoxicity was evaluated. Through comparison with aspect ratio 3 GNRs, it was identified that high aspect ratio GNRs displayed enhanced cellular internalization. Furthermore, surface functionalization dictated the quantity of GNRs internalized, with tannic acid having a significant increase over polyethylene glycol. However, the augmented intracellular concentration identified with long, tannic acid GNRs resulted in a considerable degree of cytotoxicity, which was not associated with other GNR conditions. Therefore, while the inclusion of high aspect ratio GNRs may increase the capabilities for nano-based applications, there exist some unintentional toxicological consequences that must also be considered.  相似文献

In this work, two types of CP Ti cubes with similar volumetric energy densities (VED) but different process parameters were produced using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) method. The corrosion behavior of the fabricated specimens was investigated by conducting electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and polarization experiments in simulated body fluid (SBF) solution at 37 °C. The results indicated that the microstructure and porosities, which are of great importance for biomedical applications, can be controlled by changing the process parameters even under constant energy densities. The sample produced with a lower laser power (E1) was featured with a higher level of porosity and thinner alpha laths, as compared with the sample fabricated with a higher laser power (E2). Moreover, results obtained from the bioactivity tests revealed that the sample produced with a higher laser power conferred a slight improvement in the bioactivity due to the higher amount of porosity. Lower laser power and hence higher porosity level promoted the formation of bone-like apatite on the surface of the printed specimens. The potentiodynamic polarization tests revealed inferior corrosion resistance for the fabricated sample with higher porosity. Moreover, the EIS results after different immersion times indicated that a stable oxide film was formed on the surface of samples for all immersion times. After 1 and 3 days of immersion, superior passivation behavior was observed for the sample fabricated with lower laser power. However, very similar impedance and phase values were observed for all the samples after 14 days of immersion.  相似文献

Background

Widespread occupational exposure to carbon black nanoparticles (CBNPs) raises concerns over their safety. CBNPs are genotoxic in vitro but less is known about their genotoxicity in various organs in vivo.

Methods

We investigated inflammatory and acute phase responses, DNA strand breaks (SB) and oxidatively damaged DNA in C57BL/6 mice 1, 3 and 28 days after a single instillation of 0.018, 0.054 or 0.162 mg Printex 90 CBNPs, alongside sham controls. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid was analyzed for cellular composition. SB in BAL cells, whole lung and liver were assessed using the alkaline comet assay. Formamidopyrimidine DNA glycosylase (FPG) sensitive sites were assessed as an indicator of oxidatively damaged DNA. Pulmonary and hepatic acute phase response was evaluated by Saa3 mRNA real-time quantitative PCR.

Results

Inflammation was strongest 1 and 3 days post-exposure, and remained elevated for the two highest doses (i.e., 0.054 and 0.162 mg) 28 days post-exposure (P < 0.001). SB were detected in lung at all doses on post-exposure day 1 (P < 0.001) and remained elevated at the two highest doses until day 28 (P < 0.05). BAL cell DNA SB were elevated relative to controls at least at the highest dose on all post-exposure days (P < 0.05). The level of FPG sensitive sites in lung was increased throughout with significant increases occurring on post-exposure days 1 and 3, in comparison to controls (P < 0.001-0.05). SB in liver were detected on post-exposure days 1 (P < 0.001) and 28 (P < 0.001). Polymorphonuclear (PMN) cell counts in BAL correlated strongly with FPG sensitive sites in lung (r = 0.88, P < 0.001), whereas no such correlation was observed with SB (r = 0.52, P = 0.08). CBNP increased the expression of Saa3 mRNA in lung tissue on day 1 (all doses), 3 (all doses) and 28 (0.054 and 0.162 mg), but not in liver.

Conclusions

Deposition of CBNPs in lung induces inflammatory and genotoxic effects in mouse lung that persist considerably after the initial exposure. Our results demonstrate that CBNPs may cause genotoxicity both in the primary exposed tissue, lung and BAL cells, and in a secondary tissue, the liver.  相似文献

The objective of this paper is the determination of the dynamic fatigue behaviour of braided ligaments made of polypropylene by using a rheological model and an experimental fatigue tester. A non‐linear viscoelastic model has been proposed to describe the time‐dependent deformation behaviour of braided anterior cruciate ligament prosthesis. The elastic modulus and viscous modulus are calculated for different fatigue tests. The developed fatigue tester allows to combine simultaneous cyclic solicitations of bending and traction. These combined cyclic solicitations generate new mechanical properties of the prosthesis such as increasing of the dissipative factor, the material damping and the residual deformation with the number of fatigue cycles.  相似文献

The Lorentz model and modified Debye model (MDM) parameters forSi0.6Ge0.4 are presented. A nonlinear optimiza- tion algorithm is developed. The obtained parameters are used to determine the complex relative permittivity of Si0.6Ge0.4, and compared with the experimental data for validation. Finally the obtained parameters are used to analyze the properties of symmetric surface plasmon polariton (SPP) mode propagation in a dielectric-metal-dielectric (DMD) material constructed with silver (Ag) and Si0.6Ge0.4 for further verifying the extracted parameters.  相似文献

Low density hybrid panels (16 mm thickness) were produced using wood fiber as face layers and a mixture of coarse wood particles and expandable polystyrene (EPS) as core layer. The EPS was foamed (in-situ foaming) in the core layer during the pressing stage. The effects of granules diameter (0.4, 0.8, 1.15, 1.5, and 2.2 mm) and granules content (5, 10, and 15%) on the physical and mechanical properties were evaluated. The results showed that both variables had significantly influenced the panels’ properties. Mechanical properties mostly depended on the level of mechanical inter-locking of EPS with wood particles, while the physical properties were mostly influenced by the EPS distribution. Stronger mechanical inter-locking of EPS with wood particles was achieved by both larger diameter and higher amount of EPS granules (2.2 mm and 15%). A better EPS distribution between the wood particles was observed with the smaller EPS granules and higher amount of EPS (0.4 mm and 15%).  相似文献
