Milk–fruit juice mixtures, such as the mainly acidic nutraceutical soft drinks, usually suffer from phase separation due to aggregation of caseins at low pH. In this study, short‐chain inulin (SCI), native inulin (NI), long‐chain inulin (LCI) and a combination of long‐ and short‐chain inulins (LCI:SCI) (MIX) in different ratios (20:80, 50:50 and 80:20) were added (up to 10% w/v) to a milk–sour cherry juice mixture and their stabilisation mechanisms investigated using rheological, microstructural and zeta potential observations. In addition, gum tragacanth (GT) and Persian gum (PG) as adsorbing and guar gum (GG) as nonadsorbing hydrocolloids were combined with inulin to enhance their stabilising properties. Finally, sensory analyses were carried out on the stabilised samples. According to our findings, LCI fully stabilised the mixture (8% w/v), while LCI: SCI and NI only reduced phase separation at very high concentrations, and SCI had no significant effect on the stabilisation. Moreover, no inulin aggregates and rheological changes were observed with SCI. However, LCI, LCI: SCI and NI formed inulin aggregates and the mixtures became even more viscous and thixotropic (LCI > LCI: SCL > NI). Based on these observations, it can be concluded that chain length and concentration are two important factors that affect the functionality of inulin. On the other hand, the combination of inulin with GT and PG did not have any pertinent effect on the stabilisation. However, the mixture of inulin and GG could stabilise the mixtures at certain ratios and concentrations. Furthermore, in mixtures containing GG and SCI, GG played the main role in the stabilisation by increasing the viscosity and forming gel network.  相似文献

The capability analysis of production processes where there are more than one correlated quality variables is a complicated task. The problem becomes even more difficult when these variables exhibit nonnormal characteristics. In this paper, a new methodology is proposed to estimate process capability indices (PCIs) of multivariate nonnormal processes. In the proposed methodology, the skewness of the marginal probability distributions of the variables is first diminished by a root transformation technique. Then, a Monte Carlo simulation method is employed to estimate the process proportion of nonconformities (PNC). Next, the relationship between PNC and PCI is found, and finally, PCI is estimated using PNC. Several multivariate nonnormal distributions such as Beta, Weibull, and Gamma are taken into account in simulation experiments. A real-world problem is also given to demonstrate the application of the proposed procedure. The results obtained from both the simulation studies and the real-world problem show that the proposed method performs well and is able to estimate PCI properly.  相似文献

Intrauterine growth restricted (IUGR) individuals have greater predisposition to develop a metabolic syndrome in later life manifesting itself as obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular disease. Poor fetal growth may alter the regularity mechanism of cardiac autonomic system that is involved in the development of these diseases. The malfunctioning of the cardiac autonomic system assessed by decrease in heart rate variability (HRV) is associated with negative cardiovascular outcomes. This study is aimed at investigating the risk of development of coronary heart disease in IUGR children in later life. For that purpose HRV analysis of normal and growth restricted children was performed during sleep and wake stages. The study group consisted of 9–10 years old, 32 normal, 20 low birth weight IUGR children. The standard time domain HRV metrics (mean RR, SDNN, RMSSD, NN50 and pNN50) and Poincaré indices (SD1 and SD2) were used to analyse and compare the RR-interval time series of these groups. The IUGR children showed lower HRV as compared with normal children during both sleep and wake stages. The significantly decreased HRV during sleep provide an evidence of autonomic derangement that may be associated with higher risk of lethal arrhythmias in the IUGR children in later life.  相似文献

Serum separation in Doogh, a favorite acidic dairy drink in the Middle East, is a major problem which happens due to low pH (≤4.00) and aggregation of caseins. Therefore, in the present study the influence of gum tragacanth (GT) and its soluble and insoluble fractions on prevention of serum separation as well as stabilization mechanisms were investigated using rheological, zeta potential and microscopic measurements. According to our findings, the soluble tragacanthin (T) and GT prevented serum separation at concentrations of 0.100 and 0.200%, respectively. Furthermore, the proper rheological model for control was Newtonian whereas for the others it was Power law. Based on viscoelastic experiments, Dooghs containing T and GT exhibited dominant viscose and elastic behaviors, respectively. In addition, the presence of T and GT changed the zeta potential values from positive to negative. It was elucidated that T adsorbs onto casein and induces stabilization via electrostatic and steric repulsions. Moreover, the insoluble bassorin (B) may assist stabilization by increasing the viscosity.  相似文献

Fault tree analysis (FTA) is based on constructing a hypothetical tree of base events (initiating events) branching into numerous other sub-events, propagating the fault and eventually leading to the top event (accident). It has been a powerful technique used traditionally in identifying hazards in nuclear installations and power industries. As the systematic articulation of the fault tree is associated with assigning probabilities to each fault, the exercise is also sometimes called probabilistic risk assessment. But powerful as this technique is, it is also very cumbersome and costly, limiting its area of application. We have developed a new algorithm based on analytical simulation (named as AS-II), which makes the application of FTA simpler, quicker, and cheaper; thus opening up the possibility of its wider use in risk assessment in chemical process industries. Based on the methodology we have developed a computer-automated tool. The details are presented in this paper.  相似文献

The widespread usage of random graphs   has been highlighted in the context of database applications for several years. This because such data structures turn out to be very useful in a large family of database applications ranging from simulation to sampling, from analysis of complex networks to study of randomized algorithms, and so forth. Amongst others, Erd?s–Rényi Γv,pΓv,p is the most popular model to obtain and manipulate random graphs. Unfortunately, it has been demonstrated that classical algorithms for generating Erd?s–Rényi based random graphs do not scale well in large instances and, in addition to this, fail to make use of the parallel processing capabilities of modern hardware. Inspired by this main motivation, in this paper we propose and experimentally assess a novel parallel algorithm for generating random graphs under the Erd?s–Rényi model that is designed and implemented in a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), called PPreZER. We demonstrate the nice amenities due to our solution via a succession of several intermediary algorithms, both sequential and parallel, which show the limitations of classical approaches and the benefits due to the PPreZER algorithm. Finally, our comprehensive experimental assessment and analysis brings to light a relevant average speedup gain of PPreZER over baseline algorithms.  相似文献

Polymerization of propylene was performed using MgCl2. EtOH.TiCl4.ID.TEA.ED catalyst system in hexane, where internal donor (ID) was an organic diester and external donor (ED) was a silane compound and also triethyl aluminum (TEA) as activator. A new method called isothermal/nonisothermal method (INM), a combination of isothermal and nonisothermal methods, was applied to produce the spherical polymer particles. The effects of the INM method and prepolymerization temperature on the final polymer morphology, Mw, and catalyst activity were also investigated. The morphology of the polymers was evaluated through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images. GPC results were used for molecular weight (Mw) evaluation. Green tea-reduced graphene oxide (GT-rGO) sheets have been exploited for high efficiency near infrared (NIR) photothermal therapy of HT29 and SW48 colon cancer cells. The biocompatibility of GT-rGO sheets was investigated by means of MTT assays. The polyphenol constituents of GT-rGO act as effective targeting ligands for the attachment of rGO to the surface of cancer cells, as confirmed by the cell granularity test in flow cytometry assays and also by scanning electron microscopy. The photo-thermal destruction of higher metastatic cancer cells (SW48) is found to be more than 20% higher than that of the lower metastatic one (HT29). The photo-destruction efficiency factor of the GT-rGO is found to be at least two orders of magnitude higher than other carbon-based nano-materials. Such excellent cancer cell destruction efficiency provided application of a low concentration of rGO (3 mg/L) and NIR laser power density (0.25 W/cm2) in our photo-thermal therapy of cancer cells.  相似文献

Aluminu–matrix composites produced by Ni3Al intermetallic particles are increasingly used in aerospace and structural applications because of their outstanding properties. In manufacturing of metal–matrix composites using powder metallurgy blending and milling are important factors. They control the final distribution of reinforcement particles and porosity in green compacts which in turn, strongly affect the mechanical properties of the produced PM materials. This paper studies different conditions for producing composite powders with uniform dispersion of Ni3Al particles in aluminum powders and improved physical and mechanical properties. The results indicated that an intermediate milling time for fabrication of composite powder, better than prolonged and shortened ones, causes better microstructure and properties. It was shown that addition of 5 vol.% Ni3Al particles, produced by 15 h mechanical alloying to aluminum powders, and then 12 h blending operation provides an appropriate condition for producing Al–Ni3Al composite powder.  相似文献

Frequency control, as an ancillary service, is usually provided by generation reserves. Modern generating units have special technical capabilities; e.g., their governor operation mode can be selected to be either active or passive, their ramp rate can be selected to be either normal or fast, etc. On the other hand, generating units have some technical constraints; e.g. some generating units cannot participate in primary frequency control at their capacity limits. In this paper, operational capabilities and constraints of generating units are incorporated in a “simultaneous scheduling of energy and primary reserve” problem. Furthermore, a heuristic iterative method (based on genetic algorithm) is proposed to obtain the optimal scheduling. The impacts of capabilities and constraints on scheduling are investigated through simulation studies. Simulation results depicts that taking these capabilities and constraints of generating units into account, not only reduces the total operational cost of generating units, but also will end up with a feasible solution for the system, even in cases where the previously proposed methods fail.  相似文献
