This paper evaluates whether the U.S. electricity sector is directed away from carbon-intensive technological lock-in, and which factors are contributing, or have potential to contribute, to a possible reorientation of the industry. With the application of a historical analysis of the electricity sector from the late nineteenth century through current day, this analysis finds that, although the industry still relies primarily on carbon-intensive fossil fuel operations, several recent trends indicate that the industry is becoming less carbon intensive, smaller in generation system scale, and more sustainable in operations. Crucial drivers—firm level interactions with technological change, industry leadership and market structure, government intervention and policy momentum, and citizen involvement and behavior patterns—that have traditionally shaped the structure, scale, and environmental footprint of the industry, have also played a prominent role in recent transformations. These results indicate that triggering or extraordinary events may not be necessary to initiate an escape from carbon lock-in in the electricity sector. Complete escape is not yet definitive, however, and it remains to be seen whether the industry is able to transform entirely before any significant climate change disturbances occur.  相似文献

This paper presents a framework for developing engineering design ontologies within the aerospace industry. The aim of this approach is to strengthen the modularity and reuse of engineering design ontologies to support knowledge management initiatives within the aerospace industry. Successful development and effective utilisation of engineering ontologies strongly depends on the method/framework used to develop them. Ensuring modularity in ontology design is essential for engineering design activities due to the complexity of knowledge that is required to be brought together to support the product design decision-making process. The proposed approach adopts best practices from previous ontology development methods, but focuses on encouraging modular architectural ontology design. The framework is comprised of three phases namely: (1) Ontology design and development; (2) Ontology validation and (3) Implementation of ontology structure. A qualitative research methodology is employed which is composed of four phases. The first phase defines the capture of knowledge required for the framework development, followed by the ontology framework development, iterative refinement of engineering ontologies and ontology validation through case studies and experts’ opinion. The ontology-based framework is applied in the combustor and casing aerospace engineering domain. The modular ontologies developed as a result of applying the framework and are used in a case study to restructure and improve the accessibility of information on a product design information-sharing platform. Additionally, domain experts within the aerospace industry validated the strengths, benefits and limitations of the framework. Due to the modular nature of the developed ontologies, they were also employed to support other project initiatives within the case study company such as role-based computing (RBC), IT modernisation activity and knowledge management implementation across the sponsoring organisation. The major benefit of this approach is in the reduction of man-hours required for maintaining engineering design ontologies. Furthermore, this approach strengthens reuse of ontology knowledge and encourages modularity in the design and development of engineering ontologies.  相似文献

针对传统动画影片制作存在技术及美术门槛的问题,提出一种方法即利用游戏引擎来解决非专业领域人士表达自身想法难的问题。其中包括游戏引擎方面的研究和虚拟相机自动拍摄的生成方法。结合市面上已经出现的游戏引擎,通过对比不同类型的引擎所制作出来的引擎电影,分析比对其优劣,整合已有的资源,在原有的基础上进行改进,使引擎电影能更好地表达玩家的想法,利用电影美学规则自动地或启发式地指导玩家完成游戏场景中虚拟摄像机的拍摄工作,从而帮助广大的业余动画爱好者制作出具有专业水准的创意短片。结果表明,本文使用的Torque3D引擎具有明显优势,能有效解决制作影片门槛高的问题,同时满足玩家自定义的脚本,进而生产出兼具美术与技术的影片。  相似文献

目的: 探讨持续泵注重组人血管内皮抑制素(恩度)联合mFOLOFX6方案新辅助治疗局部晚期直肠癌的临床有效率、病理缓解率及安全性。方法: 62例符合入组标准患者被随机分配到mFOLFOX6组(对照组)和恩度联合mFOLFOX6组(试验组)。对照组具体用法:奥沙利铂,85 mg/m2,第1天,静脉滴注2 h;亚叶酸钙,200 mg/m2,第1天,静脉滴注2 h;氟尿嘧啶,0.4 g/m2,静脉推注;氟尿嘧啶,2.6 g/m2,亚叶酸钙滴注结束后,立即持续泵入46 h,每2周重复;试验组具体用法:在mFOLFOX6基础上,恩度7.5 mg·m-2·d-1,每天持续24 h静脉泵入,连续7 d,每2周重复;治疗4到6周期后接受根治性手术。结果: 62例患者一共接受 310个周期的治疗,均可评价疗效;试验组的总有效率为62.5%;对照组为36.6%,试验组的总有效率高于对照组,两组差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);试验组病理完全缓解率为28.1%,对照组为6.7%,试验组的病理完全缓解率高于对照组,两组差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);试验组保肛率为81.3%,对照组为56.7%,试验组的保肛率高于对照组,两组差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);两组的毒性反应较轻,均以Ⅰ、Ⅱ级为主,两组差异无统计学意义(P>0.05);两组患者的手术并发症发生率均较低,两组差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论: 重组人血管内皮抑制素(恩度)联合mFOLOFX6方案新辅助治疗局部晚期直肠癌可以提高总有效率、病理完全缓解率和保肛率,不增加不良反应和并发症,值得临床推广应用。  相似文献

Herpesviruses are highly prevalent in the human population, and frequent reactivations occur throughout life. Despite antiviral drugs against herpetic infections, the increasing appearance of drug-resistant viral strains and their adverse effects prompt the research of novel antiherpetic drugs for treating lesions. Peptides obtained from natural sources have recently become of particular interest for antiviral therapy applications. In this work, we investigated the antiviral activity of the peptide A-3302-B, isolated from a marine bacterium, Micromonospora sp., strain MAG 9-7, against herpes simplex virus type 1, type 2, and human cytomegalovirus. Results showed that the peptide exerted a specific inhibitory activity against HSV-2 with an EC50 value of 14 μM. Specific antiviral assays were performed to investigate the mechanism of action of A-3302-B. We demonstrated that the peptide did not affect the expression of viral proteins, but it inhibited the late events of the HSV-2 replicative cycle. In detail, it reduced the cell-to-cell virus spread and the transmission of the extracellular free virus by preventing the egress of HSV-2 progeny from the infected cells. The dual antiviral and previously reported anti-inflammatory activities of A-3302-B, and its effect against an acyclovir-resistant HSV-2 strain are attractive features for developing a therapeutic to reduce the transmission of HSV-2 infections.  相似文献

This paper presents a study of the hot plate method with two simultaneous temperature measurements, on the heated and unheated faces of a sample to characterize. The thermal properties of polyvinyl chloride, plaster and laterite were considered to be a representative range of building materials. A 1D quadrupolar model was developed to represent the temperature evolution on the two faces over time. Three-dimensional numerical modeling of a quarter of the testing device with COMSOL software allowed defining the domain of the 1D hypothesis validity. The analysis of estimation possibilities of materials’ thermal characteristics, with the developed method, revealed that thermal effusivity can be accurately estimated by using the temperature of the heated face at the beginning of heating. We showed that the simultaneous use of two temperatures enables the estimation of the thermal conductivity with a greater accuracy and over a shorter time interval than using the temperature of the heated face alone. We also demonstrated that under certain conditions (samples with a high ratio of thickness to width) the method with two temperature measurements enabled the estimation of the thermal effusivity and conductivity, while the method with one temperature allowed only the thermal effusivity to be estimated, because of 3D effects. This conclusion was confirmed by experimental results obtained with a mortar sample.  相似文献

原模图低密度奇偶校验(P-LDPC)码已经广泛应用于各种通信系统,为了使其能够满足不同应用场景下系统对纠错性能、硬件资源损耗以及功耗等方面的要求,需要对P-LDPC码进行进一步的设计优化。该文主要从标准信道环境下基于双P-LDPC(DP-LDPC)码的联合信源信道编码(JSCC)系统的属性研究、系统设计优化以及性能表现等角度入手,对近些年出现的针对该系统环境所做的优化分析工作进行了综述。表明进行的优化工作属实显著地改善了系统性能,为面向工业互联网(II)的LDPC码的研究工作提供些许思路。最后,该文对未来的研究工作进行了展望,为感兴趣的研究学者提供参考以继续推进。
