Using high‐temperature superconductors, a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) was fabricated and tested. The superconductor and a vacuum interrupter serving as a commutation switch were connected in parallel with a bypass coil. When a fault occurs and excessive current flows, the superconductor is first quenched and the current is transferred to the bypass coil because of the voltage drop of the superconductor. At the same time, since a magnetic field is generated by the current flowing in the bypass coil, the commutation switch is immediately driven by an electromagnetic repulsion plate connected to the driving rod of the vacuum interrupter (VI), and the superconductor is separated from this circuit. Using the test model, we were able to separate the superconductor from the circuit by the movement of the VI within a half current cycle and to transfer all current to the bypass coil. Since the operation of the commutation switch is included in the current limiting operation of this test model, it will be a useful circuit in the development of SFCL in the future. Moreover, since it can make the energy consumption of the superconductor small during the fault state due to the realization of a high‐speed switch with simple composition, the burden on the superconductor is reduced compared with the conventional resistive type of SFCL and it is considered that the flexibility of SFCL design is increased. Cooperation with a circuit breaker was also considered; trial calculations of the parameters and energy of operation were conducted and a discussion of the installation of the SFCL in an electric power system is presented. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ethyl, n-propyl, iso-propyl and n-butyl crotonates were polymerized by group transfer polymerization (GTP) using ketene trialkylsilyl acetals as initiators in the presence of mercury (II) iodide as catalyst and iodotriethylsilane as co-catalyst. Predominantly disyndiotactic polymers with number-average molecular weights ranging from 56,000 to 90,000 were obtained almost quantitatively. Thermal and mechanical properties of poly(alkyl crotonate)s, such as glass transition temperature (Tg), refractive index, transmissivity, Izod impact strength, Young's modulus, hardness, tensile strength, tensile elongation at break, gas permeability coefficient and density were measured. All the polycrotonates have 65–90 °C higher Tg than the corresponding polymethacrylates.  相似文献

A new diffusion-multiple technique was used for mapping the phase diagram in the pseudo-quaternary Fe3Al-Cr-Mo-C system at 800 °C. The following five carbide phases were formed in an Fe3Al matrix phase (B2) with composition gradients of Cr, Mo, and C in the diffusion-multiple samples: κ-Fe3AlC, M5C, M6C, Cr7C3, and M2C (M: Mo, Cr, Al, and Fe). It was assumed that B2 phase is in equilibrium with κ, M5C, M6C, and Cr7C3 but not with M2C phase at 800 °C. Complex phase equilibria among those phases were efficiently mapped by the diffusion-multiple technique. The results from the technique were consistent with those obtained from the conventional bulk alloy method.  相似文献

Effects of the Leslie viscosity coefficients αi (i = 1, 2, …, 5) of nematic liquid crystals (NLCs) with negative dielectric anisotropy (Δε < 0) on the electric-field-induced director reorientation in homeotropic NLC cells have been studied from the analysis of the transient current induced by step voltage application. The transient current in a homeotropic NLC cell with Δε < 0 was well reproduced by computer simulation, based on the theory of NLCs in which the flow effects and the free-slip boundary condition are taken into account. It is found that the response time of vertical alignment NLC displays is dominantly governed by α2 and α4 + α5 of NLCs with Δε < 0.  相似文献

The liquid velocity profile induced by a chain of bubbles is studied theoretically and a comparison with measurements is made. The wake velocity and the bubble shape involved in the theoretical development are considered based on the wake theory and the previous empirical relation for single bubbles, respectively. The shape and wake volume of chain bubbles can be treated in the same manner as those of single bubbles by using relative velocity. As a result, using the previous results of the drag coefficient and shape of single bubbles enables the prediction of the rising velocity of chain bubbles.  相似文献

The effect of He ion irradiation on the pinning potential in EuBa2Cu3O y , thin film was investigated by measuring the temperature dependence of resistivity in magnetic fields. The pinning potential decreased as the ion fluence increased. A slower decrease of pinning potential was observed in higher magnetic field in the fluence region <3.5×1015 cm–2.  相似文献

Monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs) raised against Trypanosoma cruzi microsomal fraction (Mc) and cross-reactive with mammalian tissues were used to evaluate the ability of cross-reactive T. cruzi antigens to induce an immune response in Chagas' disease. Thus, we studied the ability of sera from Chagas' disease patients (CDP) with different degrees of cardiac dysfunction to block the immune recognition of these MoAb to the target antigen determining for each serum an inhibition index (II). By means of this approach we inferred that blocking of monoclonal antibody binding to T. cruzi microsomes by subjects' serum represents antibodies with the same reactivity. After serological and medical examinations, individuals were separated into the following groups: Chagas' disease patients without manifest cardiac involvement (CDP-0), CDP with suspected or borderline cardiac disease (CDP-1), CDP with moderate myocardial dysfunction (CDP-2), CDP with overt cardiac dysfunction (CDP-3) and controls including healthy subjects (HS) and patients with idiopathic myocarditis (IMP). The reactivity between MoAb 5F2 and its target antigen was significantly (p < 0.05) inhibited by sera from CDP irrespective of the clinical stage [CDP: n = 46, 50 +/- 20, mean II +/- SD: control: n = 16, 18 +/- 8]. Moreover, 5F2 was able to distinguish (p < 0.05) sera from CDP with mild disease (CDP clinical grade 0/1: n = 26, 34 +/- 18) from that of CDP with severe disease (CDP clinical grade 2/3: n = 20, 67 +/- 7). Moreover, the inhibitory capacity of sera from asymptomatic CDP (CDP-0) correlated with patients age (r = 0.66, p < 0.05). CDP-0 below or equal 40 years of age had results (n = 15, 25 +/- 13) comparable (p > 0.05) to that of controls while mean inhibition of CDP-0 over 40 years of age (n = 5, 60 +/- 5) was indistinguishable (p > 0.05) from that of patients with severe disease. Competitive assay with MoAb 5A9B11 also showed significant differences (p < 0.05) between sera from CDP (n = 46, 46 +/- 24) and controls (n = 13, 5 +/- 5). On the contrary, the differences observed between CDP with different cardiac involvement was not significant (mild: n = 26, 31 +/- 22; severe: n = 20, 66 +/- 11). However a thorough study of data from asymptomatic sera revealed the existence of two levels of reactivity, with low and high capacity to inhibit the reaction of 5A9B11 against Mc. On the contrary, CDP sera showed a blocking activity for 1A10C11 comparable to that of controls (CDP: n = 25, 19 +/- 9; control: n = 12, 14 +/- 6). Some cross-reactive MoAbs recognized epitopes partially composed of carbohydrates. Interestingly, 5F2 and 5A9B11 epitopes did not appear to have carbohydrates moieties. In summary, immunoinhibition assays revealed differences in the immune response of chronic chagasic patients against parasite epitopes. These results have opened the possibility to identify a prognosis marker of the disease suggesting the clinical utility of monitoring levels of these anti-Mc antibodies in patients with chronic Chagas' disease.  相似文献

The maximum biting force in 82 male athletes and 12 male subjects without any particular athletic activity (nonathletes) were measured in order to evaluate the relationship between biting force and physical fitness in athletes. The results obtained were as follows. 1. The maximum biting force in athletes (50.8 +/- 17.4kg) were significantly (p < 0.01) higher than that in the nonathletes (28.1 +/- 9.1kg). The maximum biting forces in the men who belonged to the rugby or judo clubs were predominantly higher than in other subjects. 2. In men who masticated on the left side of the mouth, the habitual (i. e., left) biting force was significantly higher than the nonhabitual (i. e., right) biting force. In men who masticated on the right side of the mouth, the habitual (i. e., right) biting force was also higher than the nonhabitual (i. e., left) biting force, but was not significantly so. 3. There was a significant positive correlation between the biting force and grip strength and back strength in athletes. In athletes, there was a significant correlation between biting force and the numbers of chin-ups, the numbers for the side-step tests and the time for 50m running.  相似文献

Two methods are proposed and demonstrated successfully for low temperature atomic layer epitaxy (ALE) of Si, where H atoms play essential roles. The first method is the use of H as a self-limiting factor. Trisilane (Si3H8) was used as source gas and the substrate temperature was modulated in order to alternate steps in an ALE cycle. When the temperature was less than 380°C in the adsorption step and more than 520°C in the desorption step, respectively, the grown layer thickness per cycle was 0.8 ML/cycle. The second method is the use of atomic H as an active reducer of a self-limiting factor. A clean surface was exposed to dichlorosilane (SiH2Cl2) as source gas to grow an Si monolayer covered with CI. Next, atomic H was injected to reduce CI from the surface. An ideal monolayer growth was obtained with the substrate temperature over 540°C.  相似文献
