Unsaturated polyester resins are the most widely used thermoset resins in the composite industry. In this study, three well‐defined unsaturated polyester resins were used. These resins have similar number‐average molecular weights, and they have different numbers of C?C bonds per molecule. The reaction kinetics of unsaturated polyester resins was studied using a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and a Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer. The glass transition temperature of the isothermally cured resin was also measured. Trapped radicals were observed in the cured polyester resin from electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. Considering the diffusion‐limitation effect, a simple kinetic model was developed to simulate the reaction rate and conversion profiles of polyester vinylene and styrene vinyl groups, as well as the total reaction rate and conversion. A mathematical model for the pyrolysis reaction of polystyrene (PS) in a semi-batch reactor has been presented. The thermal degradation of PS was flexibly modeled by a combination of random and specific chain-end scissions. Numerical simulation was used to investigate the effect of operating conditions on the PS products spectrum, the results of which were validated by the experimental data. It was found that as the reaction temperature increased (decreased), the monomer fraction in the products became lower (higher) while the trimer higher (lower). No significant variation in the product composition was, however, observed while constant temperature was maintained. These results indicate the reaction temperature is an effective manipulated variable for the control of products composition of PS pyrolysis. The calculation of the optimum temperature trajectories through the optimization study can thus be of interest for achieving productivity enhancement in plastics pyrolysis processes. In this paper, manufacturing technology of the tubular single lap adhesive joint was studied to obtain reliable and optimal joint quality. In addition, a surface preparation method and a bonding process for the joint were devised. The effect of the adhesive thickness and the adherend roughness on the fatigue strength of the joint was experimentally investigated. From experiments, it has been found that the fatigue strength of the joint increased as the adhesive thickness decreased and the optimal arithmetic surface roughness of the adherends was about 2 μm.  相似文献

The effect of zinc ions added to silica film on the electrical and structural properties of a silica/indium tin oxide two-layer film which had been prepared by solution coating for electromagnetic shielding of displays was studied. The volume resistivity of the undoped silica/indium tin oxide film was more than 3 times as high as that of the zinc-doped silica/indium tin oxide film. The addition of divalent cations, zinc ions, to the overcoated layer led volume resistivity of the two-layer film to decrease significantly and also caused a long-term increase in stability. The decrease in volume resistivity was due to the addition of zinc ions that changed the interface ionization and helped to enhance the electrical conductivity in the two-layer film.  相似文献

The sterically hindered amine monomer 4‐[3‐triethoxysilylpropoxyl]‐2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidine has been synthesized and covalently bonded to the surfaces of silica gel particles and cellulose (cotton) and copolymerized in a polyurethane coating formulation. Upon exposure to dilute sodium hypochlorite (household bleach), a very stable N‐Cl bond is formed in situ at the hindered amine nitrogen site. This source of oxidative chlorine provides an antimicrobial function to the silica gel, cotton, and polyurethane. Stability, regenerability, and biocidal efficacy data are presented. The new N‐halamine materials were remarkably effective against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli O157 : H7 in brief periods of contact. This paper numerically evaluates the hydrodynamic drag force exerted on two highly porous spheres moving steadily along their centerline (sphere #1 and sphere #2) through a quiescent Newtonian fluid over a Reynolds number ranging from 0.1 to 40. At creeping flow limit, the drag forces exerted on both spheres were identical. At higher Reynolds numbers the drag force on sphere #1 was higher than sphere #2, revealing the shading effects produced by sphere #1 on sphere #2. At dimensionless diameter (β, =df/2k0.5, df and k are floc diameter and interior permeability, respectively) >20, the spheres can be regarded nonporous. At β<20, the drag forces dropped. At β<2, the drag forces approached “no-spheres” limit. An increased size ratio of two spheres (df1/df2) would increase the drag force on sphere #1 and reduce that on sphere #2. At increasing β for both spheres, the drag force on sphere #2 was increased because of the more difficult advective flow through its interior, and at the same time the drag was reduced owing to the stronger wake flow produced by the denser sphere #1. The competition between these two effects leads to complicated dependence of drag force on sphere #2 on β value. These effects were minimal when β became low. Two identical spheres could move steadily along their centerline. At higher Reynolds number, the two spheres would move closer because of the incorporation of inertia force. For spheres of different diameters, the sphere # 2 would move faster than sphere #1 regardless of their size ratio and β value. This occurrence yielded efficient coagulation when two porous spheres were moving in-line.  相似文献

Autocatalytic reactions are often complicated, and analyses of their behaviour in open systems can seem too particular to permit useful generalisation. We study here the simplest of circumstances (uniform temperatures and concentrations in the isothermal CSTR) and the simplest of reaction schemes: (i) quadratic autocatalysis (A + B→2B); and (ii) cubic autocatalysis (A + 2B→3B). The catalyst B may be stable or have a finite lifetime (B→ inert products). Allowing for this finite lifetime adds another dimension to the interest.The phenomena encountered include multistability, hysteresis, critical extinctions, critical ignitions, and anomalous relaxation times (though infinite values do not arise). Patterns of stationary states as function of residence time can show isolas and mushrooms. All these aspects yield to simple algebraic analysis. The presence of the catalyst B in the inflow can make qualitative differences of a kind parallelled by an additional, non-catalytic reaction of the same stoichiometry (e.g. AB). Invoking the reversibility of the reactions neither increases nor diminishes their variety, and thermodynamic considerations have little to do with the many different patterns of reactivity displayed.The local stability of the various stationary states has also been characterized. Quadratic autocatalysis shows limited variety (stable node, stable focus); cubic autocatalysis generates all the kinds of stationary state possible in a two-variable system. Again all the algebra is straightforward if not always simple. Sustained oscillatory behavior (limit cycles) also occur.All these remarks relate to isothermal systems, but there are the most striking parallels between isothermal autocatalysis and the exothermic, first-order reaction in the CSTR. Behaviour with an autocatalyst of complete stability corresponds to perfect heat insulation (adiabatic operation) in the non-isothermal, exothermic system.  相似文献

A fixed bed is gradually exhausted from top to bottom without backwashing; however, backwashing can rearrange the concentration gradient in the bed. After backwashing, saturated particles which are located at the top of the bed are homogeneously distributed in the bed. The used model to predict adsorption and backwashing effect of organic component is the plug flow pore surface diffusion model (PFPSDM). A sensitivity analysis was performed to determine which parameters have the greatest impact on the model results for components which can represent various organics. In addition, the effects of backwashing were examined by rearranging concentration gradient. For single component sensitivity analysis, the molecular weight was an important parameter. The breakthrough of the smaller molecular weight component was impacted more by backwashing. The SPDFR showed a significant impact on the breakthrough pattern. When surface diffusion was the dominant mechanism, high SPDFR, the breakthrough profile was sharper than when pore diffusion was dominant, low SPDFR. The adsorbability was an important parameter in determining the breakthrough pattern. As expected, the strongly adsorbable component showed the later breakthrough. Backwashing yielded earlier breakthrough for all single components and multi-components examined.  相似文献

In order to investigate the effect of mixing ratio of bituminous coal to blended coal on the enhancement of combustion efficiency, combustion experiments of blended coal with anthracite and bituminous are done in a laboratory scale fluidized bed combustor (10.8 cm ID and 170 cm height). The gross heating values of anthracite and bituminous coal used in this study are 2,810 cal/g and 6,572 cal/g, respectively. Experimental parameters are fuel feed rate, superficial gas velocity and mixing ratio of bituminous coal to blended coal. The combustion efficiency increases with the mixing ratio of bituminous coal due to the lower unburned carbon losses and higher burning velocity of bituminous coal. The rate of combustion in the combustor was increased with mixing ratio resulted from a higher burning velocity of bituminous coal. The measured combustion efficiency experimentally is about 3.5-12.4% higher than that of the calculated value based on the individual combustion of anthracite and bituminous coal under the same operating conditions. The optimum mixing ratio (MR) of bituminous coal determined is around 0.75 in this study.
