Adsorption of Pb(II) ion by a novel extractant-impregnated resin, EIR, was studied as a function of various experimental parameters using batch adsorption experiments. The new EIR was prepared by impregnating gallocyanine (GCN) onto Amberlite XAD-16 resin beads. The EIR was characterized by nitrogen analysis and SEM micrographs. The new EIR showed excellent selectivity factor values (α) for Pb(II) adsorption respect to other metal ions. The effects of some chemical and physical variables were evaluated and the optimum conditions were found for Pb(II) removal from aqueous solutions. The equilibrium adsorption isotherm was fitted with the Langmuir adsorption model. The maximum adsorption capacity (qmax) of EIR for Pb(II) ions was found to be 367.92 mg g−1. The kinetic studies showed that the intra-particle diffusion is the rate-controlling step. Also, the intra-particle diffusion coefficients, Dip values, were of the order of 10−12 m2 s−1. The values of enthalpy (ΔH°) were positive, which confirms the endothermic nature of adsorption process. Also, the positive entropy changes (ΔS°) were showed that the randomness increased along with the adsorption process. In addition, the obtained negative values of Gibbs free energy (ΔG°) indicated feasible and spontaneous nature of the adsorption process at different temperatures. The new adsorbent was very stable so that it can be successfully used for many consecutive cycles without significant loss in its adsorption capacity. 相似文献

Polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) nanocomposites for wood adhesives containing different amounts of colloidal silica nanoparticles (CSNs) were synthesized via in situ one-step emulsion polymerization. The adhesion strength of wood specimens bonded by PVAc nanocomposites was investigated by the tensile test. Thermal properties of PVAc nanocomposites were also characterized by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis. Rheological and morphological properties of the PVAc nanocomposites were investigated using rheometric mechanical spectrometry and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), respectively. The obtaining results showed that the shear strength of PVAc nanocomposite including 1 wt. % CSNs has the highest shear and tensile strength about 4.7 and 3.2 MPa, respectively. A small increment of Tg (~3 °C) and considerable increment of the ash content proved the enhancement of PVAc thermal characterization in the presence of CSNs. Three‐dimensional fluorinated pentablock poly(l ‐lactide‐co‐ε‐caprolactone)‐based scaffolds were successfully produced by the incorporation of thermally exfoliated graphene oxide (TEGO) as an antimicrobial agent with an electrospinning technique. In a ring‐opening polymerization, the fluorinated groups in the middle of polymer backbone were attached with a perfluorinated reactive stabilizer having oxygen‐carrying ability. The fiber diameter and its morphologies were optimized through changes in TEGO amount, voltage, polymer concentration, and solvent type to obtain an ideal scaffold structure. Instead of the widely used graphene oxide synthesized by Hummer's method, TEGO sheets having a low amount of oxygen produced by thermal expansion were integrated into the fiber structure to investigate the effect of the oxygen functional groups of TEGO sheets on the degradation and antimicrobial activity of the scaffolds. There was no antimicrobial activity in TEGO‐reinforced scaffolds in the in vitro tests in contrast to the literature. This study confirmed that a low number of oxygen functional groups on the surface of TEGO restricted the antimicrobial activity of the fabricated composite scaffolds. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Dense conductive ceramic composites of MgAl2O4 and MoSi2 were processed using combustion synthesis under‐load methodology. The starting reactants were blends of MoO3, SiO2, MgO, and Al powders. The study revealed that to obtain dense composite with homogeneous microstructure, 30 wt. % of MoSi2, 18.5 μm Al average particle size, and 175 MPa load are required. The produced dense composite was found to have a low apparent porosity (<1.0 vol. %), moderate density 4.61 g/cm3, and low electrical resistivity 0.3 Ωcm. The dense composite exhibited excellent thermodynamic stability between its phases at 1400°C in open atmosphere. 相似文献

We present a free‐energy driven kinetic Monte Carlo model to simulate homogeneous nucleation of metal nanoparticles (NPs) from vapor phase. The model accounts for monomer‐cluster condensations, cluster–cluster collisions, and cluster evaporations simultaneously. Specifically, we investigate the homogeneous nucleation of Al NPs starting with different initial background temperatures. Our results indicate good agreement with earlier phenomenological studies using the Gibbs# free energy formulation from Classical Nucleation Theory (CNT). Furthermore, nucleation rates for various clusters are calculated through direct cluster observations. The steady‐state nucleation rate estimated using two different approaches namely, the Yasuoka‐Matsumoto (YM) and mean first passage time (MFPT) methods indicate excellent agreement with each other. Finally, our simulation results depict the expected increase in the entropy of mixing as clusters approach the nucleation barrier, followed by its subsequent drastic loss after the critical cluster formation resulting from first‐order phase transitions. © 2017 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 63: 18–28, 2018 相似文献

In this work, a physio‐economic model supported by lab‐scale experiments assessing the economic viability of minichannel based carbon capture units is presented. The net present value of (capital and operating) costs (NPVC) ensued throughout the plant life is selected as the benchmarking parameter. An optimization problem is formulated and solved with the objective of minimizing the NPVC of the unit subject to constraints imposed by the physics of absorption and pressure drop limits; both of which are captured via experimentally deduced empirical correlations. The results show that the minichannel absorbers are economically competitive to conventional systems for low capacity CO2 capture achieving savings ranging from ~50% to 3% for plant capacities ranging from 5 to 50 MMSCFD, respectively, primarily due to their lower capital costs. At higher plant capacities, the higher operating costs of the minichannel units dominate their NPVC and as such lead them to lose their competitiveness. © 2017 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 64: 620–631, 2018 相似文献

An exact three-dimensional analysis based on the linear potential theory and the elaborated method of eigenfunction expansion in elliptic coordinates are presented to study the free coupled elasto-hyrodynamic characteristics of an upright non-deformable cylindrical container of elliptical planform with a flexible bottom plate, filled to an arbitrary depth with an inviscid incompressible liquid. Extensive numerical data are presented in an orderly fashion for the first few symmetric/anti-symmetric coupled hydroelastic natural frequencies as a function of fluid depth parameter for two plate aspect ratios. Also, selected hydrodynamic and structural deformation modes shapes are presented in graphical form. The effects of liquid level, bottom plate elasticity, and cross sectional aspect ratio on the sloshing frequencies and hydrodynamic pressure modes are examined. Diffusion joining of commercially pure titanium was successfully prepared via transient liquid phase bonding in vacuum environment. The process was carried out using AMS 4772 silver-based filler alloy at 900–1000°C for various holding time under the vacuum of 6?×?10?7?Torr. Optical and scanning electron microscopy equipped with an EDS analyzer was conducted for microstructural evaluations. Mechanical properties were also investigated by shear test, fractographic assessment and X-ray diffraction analyses. The tendency to achieve isothermally solidified joint increased by increasing bonding time. No sign of athermal solidification was detected of sample bonded at 1000°C for 90?min. Consequently, the bonding condition of a high quality joint was obtained. Elemental analyses revealed that filler alloy’s elements (Ag, Cu) distributed more uniformly in fully isothermal solidified bond, whereas the aggregation of these elements is considerable in athermally solidified bond. Shear test results represented that the highest shear strength attributed to the sample bonded in isothermal solidified condition (bonded at 1000°C for 90?min). 相似文献
