Abstract: The propagation of fatigue cracks under constant amplitude cyclic loading was studied in welded stiffened steel plates. The residual stresses in the stiffened plates were measured using the neutron diffraction strain‐scanning technique. The neutron diffraction measurements indicated that, in general, the residual stresses were tensile near the welded stiffeners and compressive between the stiffeners and ahead of the starter notch tips. Fatigue testing indicated that the fatigue crack growth rates of the stiffened plates were, in general, lower than that of a corresponding unstiffened plate, especially near the notch tips, where compressive residual stresses existed. An analytical method, using Green's function, was developed to predict the fatigue crack growth rates. Reasonable accuracy was obtained. 相似文献

Gas condensate reservoirs usually exhibit complex flow behaviors due to the buildup of condensate bank around the wellbore when the bottom-hole pressure falls below the dew point. Hydraulic fracturing improves well productivity by delaying the onset of dew point pressure and also reducing the condensate saturation near the wellbore area. The authors present the results of a study that compared the near wellbore behaviors and productivities of a vertical nonfractured well and a vertical hydraulically fractured well in a low permeability lean gas condensate reservoir. Results show that there is no indication of capillary number effects in this low permeability reservoir because of low production rates. 相似文献

In the present work, a centrifugal pump impeller’s blades shape was redesigned to reach a higher efficiency in turbine mode using two different optimization algorithms: one is a local method as incomplete sensitivities–gradient based optimization algorithm coupled by 3D Navier–Stokes flow solver, and another is a global method as Genetic algorithms and artificial neural network coupled by 3D Navier–Stokes flow solver. New impeller was manufactured and tested in the test rig. Comparison of the local optimization method results with the global optimization method results showed that the gradient based method has detected the global optimum point. Experimental results confirmed the numerical efficiency improvement in all measured points. This study illustrated that the developed gradient based optimization method is efficient for 3D radial turbomachinery blade optimization. 相似文献

We present a mechanics-based interactive multi-modal environment designed as part of a serious gaming platform. The specific objectives are to teach basic suturing and knotting techniques for simple skin or soft tissue wound closure. The pre-wound suturing target, skin, or deformable tissue is modeled as a modified mass-spring system. The suturing material is designed as a mechanics-based deformable linear object. Tools involved in a typical suturing procedures are also simulated. Collision management modules between the soft tissue and the needle, the soft tissue and the suture are analyzed. In addition to modeling the interactive environment of a typical suturing procedure, basics of the modeling approaches on the evaluation of a stitch formed by the user are also discussed. For example, if needle insertion points are too close from each other or to the edge of the wound, when the suture is pulled, the suture will tear the soft tissue instead of suturing the incision together. Experiment results show that our simulator can run on a standard personal computer and allow users to perform different suturing patterns with smooth graphics and haptic feedback. 相似文献

In this paper, two new circuit configurations for realizing voltage‐mode (VM) all‐pass sections (APSs) are presented. The proposed circuits employ only two differential voltage current conveyors (DVCCs) and are cascadable with other VM circuits due to their high‐input and low‐output impedances. The first configuration uses a grounded resistor and a grounded capacitor without requiring matching constraints, whereas the second employs two grounded resistors and a grounded capacitor with a single matching condition. While the first configuration can realize only one all‐pass response, the second can provide inverting and non‐inverting all‐pass responses with selection of appropriate input port. Adding two grounded resistors to the proposed filters, variable gain APSs can also be obtained. As applications, two quadrature oscillators, each of which using one of the proposed all‐pass circuits, one grounded resistor and one grounded capacitor are presented. In this work, the parameters of cobalt oxide suspension such as conductivity, zeta potential, particle size, stability, and finally the electrophoretic behavior of particles in the absence and presence of polyethylenimine (PEI) in acetone medium were investigated. Also, the effects of washing on the stability and electrophoretic deposition of Co3O4 were studied. Characterization of the obtained layer by optical microscopy revealed that there was no deposition in the suspension without PEI, while a uniform layer was formed in the presence of PEI additive. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results confirmed the uniformity of layer obtained in acetone using PEI additive. Moreover, SEM results demonstrated that more porous microstructures were obtained at longer deposition durations. The difference in the porosity of the layers, as indicated by the SEM micrographs, is attributed to increase in the deposition time. 相似文献

The performance of commercially available poly (2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) and Cardotype polyimide (PI) hollow fiber membranes was investigated in removing hydrogen sulfide from methane in a series of bench-scale experiments. It was observed that in the concentration range of hydrogen sulfide in methane from 101 to 401 ppm, the methane permeability decreased in the presence of hydrogen sulfide for Cardo-type polyimide hollow fiber membranes, whereas the PPO membrane performance was not affected. The separation coefficients of hydrogen sulfide/methane were 6 and 4 for PI and PPO membranes, respectively. Effects of temperature on the performance of PI and PPO membranes were investigated. It was observed that the permeabilities of both components of the mixture increased by increasing temperature, whereas the selectivities remained constant. 相似文献

Cellulose dissolved in ionic liquid (1‐(carboxymethyl)pyridinium chloride)/water (60/40 w/w) mixture is regenerated in various non‐solvents, namely water, ethanol, methanol and acetone, to gain more insight into the contribution of non‐solvent medium to the morphology of regenerated cellulose. To this end, the initial and regenerated celluloses were characterized with respect to crystallinity, thermal stability, chemical structure and surface morphology using wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. According to the results, regardless of non‐solvent type, all regenerated samples have the same chemical structure and lower crystallinity in comparison to the initial cellulose, making them a promising candidate for efficient biofuel production based on enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose. The reduction in crystallinity of regenerated samples is explained based on the potential of the non‐solvent to break the hydrogen bonds between cellulose chains and ionic liquid molecules as well as the affinity of water and non‐solvent which can be evaluated based on Hansen solubility parameter. The latter also determines the phase‐separation mechanism during the regeneration process, which in turn affects surface morphology of the regenerated cellulose. The pivotal effect of regenerated cellulose crystallinity on its thermal stability is also demonstrated. Regenerated cellulose with lower crystallinity is more susceptible to molecular rearrangement during heating and hence exhibits enhanced thermal stability. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献
