Wave digital filters (WDFs), digital filters that are derived by mathematical transformations from passive analog circuits, are discussed. Design and implementation techniques of WDFs are described, and it is shown that the most flexible WDF structure is that derived from the analog lattice network. The use of WDFs in traditional frequency-selective applications, transmultiplexing, interpolators and decimators (i.e. circuits that increase or decrease, respectively), the sampling rate, and image processing applications are also discussed  相似文献

Glial growth factor 2 (GGF2) is a neuronal signal that promotes the proliferation and survival of the oligodendrocyte, the myelinating cell of the central nervous system (CNS). The present study examined whether recombinant human GGF2 (rhGGF2) could effect clinical recovery and repair to damaged myelin in chronic relapsing experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) in the mouse, a major animal model for the human demyelinating disease, multiple sclerosis. Mice with EAE were treated with rhGGF2 during both the acute and relapsing phases. Clinically, GGF2 treatment delayed signs, decreased severity, and resulted in statistically significant reductions in relapse rate. rhGGF2-treated groups displayed CNS lesions with more remyelination than in controls. This correlated with increased mRNA expression of myelin basic protein exon 2, a marker for remyelination, and with an increase in the CNS of the regulatory cytokine, interleukin 10, at both the RNA and protein levels. Thus, a beneficial effect of a neurotrophic growth factor has been demonstrated on the clinical, pathologic, and molecular manifestations of autoimmune demyelination, an effect that was associated with increased expression of a T helper 2 cytokine. rhGGF2 treatment may represent a novel approach to the treatment of multiple sclerosis.  相似文献

PURPOSE: In a rabbit model, transposition of a muscle pedicle flap to an ischemic hind limb has been shown to result in the development of new blood vessels that connect the arterial circulation of the flap to the circulation of the limb. The hypothesis that exogenous recombinant basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) would enhance the development of this new blood supply was examined and the regulation of bFGF in this process was investigated. METHODS: The right common iliac artery was ligated in 12 male New Zealand white rabbits. An abdominal wall muscle flap based on the left inferior epigastric artery was transposed to the right thigh. bFGF in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) at 3 ng/h (n = 6), or PBS alone (n = 6), was infused for 7 days via mini-osmotic pumps with an infusion catheter positioned at the flap-muscle interface. The flap-muscle interface was immunostained with anti-alpha-actin antibody to determine blood vessel density (number of vessels/mm) and with anti-bFGF antibody to evaluate bFGF distribution. RNA was isolated from these sections, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to examine endogenous bFGF messenger RNA (mRNA) expression. RESULTS: Blood vessel density was significantly increased in animals receiving exogenous bFGF (22. 0 +/- 10.6 vessels/mm vs. 10.7 +/- 8.8 vessels/mm, P =.009). In the controls, neovessels were arranged in clusters with endogenous bFGF concentrated around these clusters. In bFGF-treated animals, vessels were diffusely scattered throughout the flap-limb interface, corresponding to the distribution pattern of infused bFGF. There was no difference in bFGF mRNA expression between the control and the bFGF-treated groups. CONCLUSION: Exogenous bFGF infusion significantly augmented new blood vessel development at the flap-limb interface. Endogenous bFGF was up-regulated around the newly developed microvessels in control animals, and vessel growth correlated with the diffuse distribution of exogenous bFGF, implicating bFGF as an important factor in angiogenesis. Exogenous bFGF did not affect bFGF mRNA expression, suggesting that the regulation of bFGF is not under autocrine control.  相似文献

Morphology of peripheral airways in current smokers and ex-smokers   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
To investigate the effect of smoking status on pulmonary function and pathologic changes in the peripheral airways, we studied 97 patients who underwent thoracotomy for coin lesions. The patients were divided into 4 groups: nonsmokers (n = 9), current smokers (n = 51), and those who had ceased smoking for less than (n = 18) or more than (n = 19) 2 yr prior to surgery. We found that current smokers had evidence of air-flow obstruction with abnormal lung volumes when compared with nonsmokers. Ex-smokers had lung volumes similar to those of nonsmokers, but showed evidence of obstruction, with the FEV1/FVC between the values found for nonsmokers and current smokers. Examination of the small airways showed that the membranous bronchioles of current smokers and ex-smokers displayed only increased goblet cell metaplasia when compared with those in nonsmokers; the respiratory bronchioles of current and ex-smokers showed increases in intraluminal and airway wall inflammatory cells, wall fibrosis, and pigment deposition. We conclude that patients who currently smoke cigarettes have reduced lung function that is associated with abnormalities of airway structure. Although those who have stopped smoking have function that is closer to the nonsmoking group, there is no apparent difference in structural change between current and ex-smokers.  相似文献

The eutectic alloys Al-Al2Cu and Al-Al3Ni have been unidirectionally solidified at rates from 1.05 to 6.80 in, per min by a semicontinuous casting technique, and then tested in tension at room temperature. In both alloys the flow stress and ultimate tensile strength increased with increasing solidification rate, except for the highest solidification rate. The increases in matrix work-hardening rate with solidification rate were too great to be accounted for by dislocation pileup mechanisms, but were found to correlate with elastic constraint effects of the matrix aluminum phase by the reinforcing phases. In the Al-Al2Cu eutectic the strength of the Al2Cu platelets increased as the platelet width decreased with increasing growth rate. Misalignment of the composite caused by either a cellular or a macroscopically concave solid-liquid interface resulted in a decrease in the ultimate strength, especially in the rod-like Al-Al3Ni alloy. This has been related to the fracture behavior of the composites. The very low fracture toughness of the lamellar Al-Al2Cu eutectic is consistent with models of composite materials, and seriously limits the alloy’s usefulness for engineering applications.  相似文献

We employ molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo (MC) methods to simulate the rearrangement of Ga atoms from a randomly distributed Pu-Ga alloy and study the resultant effect on thermodynamic properties. The results show that all of the first neighbor Ga-Ga bonds are removed at all temperatures considered (200, 400 and 600 K) while the number of 2NN and 3NN bonds increase, and the number of 4NN bonds decreases. These results imply that Ga atoms develop strong short range ordering in the solid solution. The ordering causes an enthalpy decrease about ~3–4 meV/atom for different temperatures in the 5 at. % Ga alloy. This energy change is clearly important in the calculation of the Pu-Ga phase diagram. In addition, MC calculations at 200 K show pronounced Ga segregation.  相似文献

A study was conducted to investigate the body movements of participants waiting to be interviewed in one of two conditions: preparing to answer questions truthfully or preparing to lie. The effects of increased self-awareness were also investigated, with half of the participants facing a mirror; the other half facing a blank wall. Analysis of covertly obtained video footage showed a significant interaction for the duration of hand/arm movements between deception level and self-awareness. Without a mirror, participants expecting to lie spent less time moving their hands than those expecting to tell the truth; the opposite was seen in the presence of a mirror. Participants expecting to lie also had higher levels of anxiety and thought that they were left waiting for less time than those expecting to tell the truth. These findings led to the identification of further research areas with the potential to support deception detection in security applications.  相似文献
