Infra-red video sequences were taken of directly bonded silicon wafer pairs undergoing the razor blade crack length bond strength measurement in a specially designed jig. A series of tests were carried out under controlled atmospheres of nitrogen at various relative humidities. Analysis of the video images showed that the crack continues to propagate rapidly for several minutes after the blade has stopped moving, and that the presence of moisture has a strong positive influence on the rate of crack propagation under static loading. A new Maszara protocol is suggested based on modelling crack growth using our experimentally derived constants.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to develop a numerical model for simulating surface erosion occurring at a fluid/soil interface subject to a flow process. Balance equations with jump relations are used. A penalization procedure including a fictitious domain method is used to compute the Stokes flow around obstacles, in order to avoid body-fitted unstructured meshes and instead use fast and efficient finite volume approximations on Cartesian meshes. The evolution of the water/soil interface is described by using a level set function. The ability of the model to predict the interfacial erosion of soils is confirmed by several numerical simulations.  相似文献

Effects of photoperiod and type of grain were assessed using 47 cows (wk 1; 59.5 d of lactation) exposed daily to 16 h of light (long day) and fed randomly one of two diets containing an equal amount of cracked corn or rolled barley. During wk 5, cows were assigned within each diet to long day and ad libitum feeding, short day (8 h of light: 2 h of dark: 2 h of light: 12 h of dark) and ad libitum feeding, or long day and ad libitum feeding (wk 5 to 8) followed by pair feeding with short day cows between wk 9 and 16. Milk composition was not affected by treatments. Between wk 9 and 16, long day cows fed for ad libitum consumption or pair fed produced 5 to 11% more milk than cows exposed to short day; feed intake of long day cows fed for ad libitum consumption was greater than short short day and long day cows pair fed cows. Milk yield and total feed intake were not affected by type of grain in the diet. In conclusion, long day photoperiod increased milk yield and feed intake.  相似文献

Focused ultrasound is very well suited for inducing noninvasive local hyperthermia. Since magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be employed to obtain real-time temperature maps noninvasively the combination of these two technologies offers great advantages specifically aimed toward oncological studies. Real-time identification of the target region and accurate control of the temperature evolution during the treatment has now become possible. Thermal ablation of pathological tissue, local drug delivery using thermosensitive micro-carriers and controlled transgene expression using thermosensitive promoters have recently been demonstrated with this unique technology. Based on these experiments combined focused ultrasound and MRI thermometry holds promise for future oncological diagnostics and treatment. In this paper, we review some of the recent methodological developments as well as experimental and first clinical studies using this approach.  相似文献

The millimeter-wave spectrum above 70 GHz provides a cost-effective solution to increase the wireless communications data rates by increasing the carrier wave frequencies. We report on the development of two key components of a wireless transmission system, a high-speed photodiode (HS-PD) and a Schottky Barrier Diode (SBD). Both components operate uncooled, a key issue in the development of compact modules. On the transmitter side, an improved design of the HS-PD allows it to deliver an output RF power exceeding 0 dBm (1 mW). On the receiver side, we present the design process and achieved results on the development of a compact direct envelope detection receiver based on a quasi-optical SDB module. Different resonant (meander dipole) and broadband (Log-Spiral and Log-Periodic) planar antenna solutions are designed, matching the antenna and Schottky diode impedances at high frequency. Impedance matching at baseband is also provided by means of an impedance transition to a 50 Ohm output. From this comparison, we demonstrate the excellent performance of the broadband antennas over the entire E-band by setting up a short-range wireless link transmitting a 1 Gbps data signal.  相似文献

After the introduction of the basic concepts of Classical IP over ATM (CLIP), this paper presents an extension to this standard as well as a full analysis of the technical viability of the extension proposal. One of the major drawbacks of CLIP is the co-existence of IP and ATM without Quality of Service (QoS) support. By extending the functionality of CLIP and redefining the mapping of IP and ATM addresses, QoS can be brought to IP-based applications without requiring any specific definition or implementation changes at the IP layer or above. QACLIP (QoS for Applications using CLIP), the newly defined extension, allows applications to request specific QoS for their data transfer use. The paper describes the implementation of a novel Analog-to-Digital-Converter (ADC) test technique for next generation low cost massive parallel ADC testing using a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) on tester load board. The goal is to test the ADC which is embedded in an automotive micro controller with only pure digital tester sources. Therefore, the analog test stimulus for the ADC is generated by using ΔΣ-modulation technique off-line and analog filtering on load board. The digital test response is analyzed by a FPGA in real time by comparing the measured data with a reference signal. The modular concept of FPGA evaluation allows for quick and flexible reaction on changing production test requirements. Simply by reprogramming the FPGA with a new module there is no need of any hardware reconfigurations. Measurements with a high precision reference ADC in laboratory environment show that the method is ready for production.  相似文献

We present a new and simple method which consists to apply constellation shaping to bit-interleaved turbo-coded modulation (BICTM) over additive white Gaussian noise channels. A large effort is devoted to the research of new computing paradigms associated with innovative nanotechnologies that should complement and/or propose alternative solutions to the classical Von Neumann/CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) association. Among various propositions, spiking neural network (SNN) seems a valid candidate. i) In terms of functions, SNN using relative spike timing for information coding are deemed to be the most effective at taking inspiration from the brain to allow fast and efficient processing of information for complex tasks in recognition or classification. ii) In terms of technology, SNN may be able to benefit the most from nanodevices because SNN architectures are intrinsically tolerant to defective devices and performance variability. Here, spike‐timing‐dependent plasticity (STDP), a basic and primordial learning function in the brain, is demonstrated with a new class of synapstor (synapse‐transistor), called nanoparticle organic memory field‐effect transistor (NOMFET). This learning function is obtained with a simple hybrid material made of the self‐assembly of gold nanoparticles and organic semiconductor thin films. Beyond mimicking biological synapses, it is also demonstrated how the shape of the applied spikes can tailor the STDP learning function. Moreover, the experiments and modeling show that this synapstor is a memristive device. Finally, these synapstors are successfully coupled with a CMOS platform emulating the pre‐ and postsynaptic neurons, and a behavioral macromodel is developed on usual device simulator.  相似文献
