HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) systems used for heating or cooling buildings, consume a considerable amount of energy. To optimize the energy consumption, the behavior of occupants must be changed. This can be achieved by providing information and suggestions to occupants. A first step is developing of a less expensive and non-invasive measurement system and metering of the electricity and heat consumed. Based on collected experimental data, it can identify the parameters of a thermal model of the house. The model obtained will be used to simulate different aspects that can help to reduce the energy consumption. This paper presents a simple solution for thermal modeling of a house which includes experimental identification of the model's parameters. Such data are used to simulate the thermal behavior of the house and to obtain solutions to reduce energy consumption. In simulation, the control of the thermal system is performed using a model based predictive control algorithm.  相似文献

A number of fractions with differing intensity of the inhibitory action on the gastric secretion were obtained by gel filtration in a column with biogels P-30 and P-2 of cappa-casein glycomacropeptide. A low-molecular fraction displays the greatest capacity for inhibiting gastric secretion. Desialism, heating and partial hydrolysis of glycomacropeptide with pepsin, trypsin and chemotrypsin used separately have no effect on its inhibitory activity. The resulting data suggest that the inhibitory action of glycomacropeptide is caused by a certain part rather than by entire molecule.  相似文献

The main obstacle in the construction of primary vacuum standards for very low pressures - ultra-high vacuum (UHV) - is outgassing from the walls of the apparatus. Thus, principles utilising a higher pumping rate in the calibration chamber, e.g., the pressure ratio technique, seem to be more useful for this range. However, a serious problem is inherent in this method, namely, that the gas in the calibration chamber is not in equilibrium and thus cannot be characterised by a single scalar pressure value, although such a value is then used to evaluate the measurement. This discrepancy can be overcome by using a hot cathode ionisation gauge as a transfer standard calibrated by the dynamic extension method.The dynamic extension method is explained and compared with the pressure ratio technique. The basic conditions for achieving acceptable uncertainty values are considered.  相似文献

This study reports for the first time in vitro and in vivo properties of fluorapatite (FA)-forming calcium phosphate cements (CPCs). The experimental cements contained from (0 to 3.1) mass % of F, corresponding to presence of FA at levels of approximately (0 to 87) mass %. The crystallinity of the apatitic cement product increased greatly with the FA content. When implanted subcutaneously in rats, the in vivo resorption rate decreased significantly with increasing FA content. The cement with the highest FA content was not resorbed in soft tissue, making it the first known biocompatible and bioinert CPC. These bioinert CPCs might be useful for applications where slow or no resorption of the implant is required to achieve the desired clinical outcome.  相似文献

Although the round goby, Neogobius melanostomus, is widespread in the Great Lakes and has an extended breeding season with a high reproductive rate; its spawning behaviour remains elusive. We present the first reported accounts of spawning by the round goby in the laboratory. By simulating winter conditions and restoring spring conditions, we induced round gobies to spawn in October 2007, March 2008, May 2008, and January 2009. In one case, fanning by the nest-holding male began 10 days before egg deposition and, during this period, the male rubbed secretions along the ceiling of the nest. Males were choosy about which gravid females entered the nest and prevented entry by some females. Spawning involved repeated inversions by females and males releasing gametes on the ceiling of the nest. Males guarded the nest by blocking the entrance, producing agonistic vocalizations and chasing intruders. Inside the nest, eggs were regularly inspected by the males and constantly ventilated using pectoral and caudal fins. Up to three gravid females spawned sequentially in a nest. Peak ventilation occurred after egg deposition and declined with time until the parental male ate the eggs. The decline of parental care and egg cannibalism was likely an artifact of laboratory conditions and small brood size. Our findings offer new information on the reproductive habits of the invasive round goby. Because the reproductive sequence in the laboratory seems easy to disrupt, the procedures may lead to a management tool to control the spread of the species into new areas.  相似文献

Numerous studies have shown associations between smoking and depression, but the generalizability of the relationship across ethnic groups remains unknown. The present study assessed the association between depression and smoking intention and experimentation among adolescents from four ethnic groups in the Los Angeles area-Chinese/Chinese American, Latino/Hispanic, Persian/Iranian, and White. Over 800 7th graders in the Los Angeles area completed measures of depressive symptoms, experimentation with smoking, intention to smoke, and sociodemographic covariates. Chinese/Chinese American students had the lowest levels of depressive symptoms, whereas Latinos/Hispanics had the highest levels. Latinos/Hispanics also were the most likely to intend to smoke in the next year and were the most likely to have started experimenting with cigarette smoking. Depressive symptoms were significantly associated with intention to smoke even after controlling for language use acculturation, socioeconomic status, gender, and ethnicity. The association between depressive symptoms and intention to smoke did not vary significantly across ethnic groups. These results indicate that the association between depressive symptoms and adolescent smoking generalizes across diverse ethnic groups.  相似文献

A study of in-cylinder fuel-air mixing distributions in a firing gasoline-direct-injection engine is reported using planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) imaging. A multi-component fuel synthesised from three pairs of components chosen to simulate light, medium and heavy fractions was seeded with one of three tracers, each chosen to co-evaporate with and thus follow one of the fractions, in order to account for differential volatility of such components in typical gasoline fuels. In order to make quantitative measurements of fuel-air ratio from PLIF images, initial calibration was by recording PLIF images of homogeneous fuel-air mixtures under similar conditions of in-cylinder temperature and pressure using a re-circulation loop and a motored engine. This calibration method was found to be affected by two significant factors. Firstly, calibration was affected by variation of signal collection efficiency arising from build-up of absorbing deposits on the windows during firing cycles, which are not present under motored conditions. Secondly, the effects of residual exhaust gas present in the firing engine were not accounted for using a calibration loop with a motored engine.In order to account for these factors a novel method of PLIF calibration is presented whereby ‘bookend’ calibration measurements for each tracer separately are performed under firing conditions, utilising injection into a large upstream heated plenum to promote the formation of homogeneous in-cylinder mixtures. These calibration datasets contain sufficient information to not only characterise the quantum efficiency of each tracer during a typical engine cycle, but also monitor imaging efficiency, and, importantly, account for the impact of exhaust gas residuals (EGR). By use of this method EGR is identified as a significant factor in quantitative PLIF for fuel mixing diagnostics in firing engines.The effects of cyclic variation in fuel concentration on burn rate are analysed for different fuel injection strategies. Finally, mixture distributions for late injection obtained using quantitative PLIF are compared to predictions of computational fluid dynamics calculations.  相似文献

Whole green bell peppers (Capsicum annuum L.) were obtained through a local fresh‐cut company. They were washed in a 100 ppm chlorine solution, dried and then sliced into 0.5‐cm wide strips. A bulk sample of slices was divided into four treatments: (1) no wash, (2) one wash in fresh distilled water, (3) two sequential washes in fresh distilled water, and (4) three sequential washes in fresh distilled water. Retention of firmness of the pepper slices during storage at 7 °C improved with the number of washes after cutting. The modification of package atmosphere was less in all wash treatments than in the ‘no wash’ control. The sliced tissues of ‘no wash’ controls had higher levels of acetaldehyde and ethyl acetate. Analysis of the wash water revealed that sequential washes with water removed incremental amounts of acetaldehyde and soluble phenols from the cut surfaces of the tissue. These results show that washing has a dramatic effect on physicochemical measures of quality in green pepper slices, and it is likely that this effect is mediated by the removal of stress‐related compounds produced during the cutting operation. While acetaldehyde and total phenolics were the two stress‐related compounds measured in the wash water, it may be that other compounds removed in the wash water could have contributed to the beneficial effects on quality reported in this study.  相似文献
