The output error identification method is studied in various respects. The stationary points of the associated loss function are investigated. Sufficient conditions for a unique local minimum are given. The loss functions can be minimized using a quasilinearization algorithm. Such an algorithm will give good local convergence. It is, however, shown that global convergence does not always occur. The output error method is also compared with some other estimation methods from the accuracy point of view. It is proved that a prediction error method will give better accuracy. An instrumental variable technique may give better or worse accuracy depending on the actual noise correlation.  相似文献

The estimation of signal covariance matrices is a crucial part of many signal processing algorithms. In some applications, the structure of the problem suggests that the underlying, true covariance matrix is the Kronecker product of two valid covariance matrices. Examples of such problems are channel modeling for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications and signal modeling of EEG data. In applications, it may also be that the Kronecker factors in turn can be assumed to possess additional, linear structure. The maximum-likelihood (ML) method for the associated estimation problem has been proposed previously. It is asymptotically efficient but has the drawback of requiring an iterative search for the maximum of the likelihood function. Two methods that are fast and noniterative are proposed in this paper. Both methods are shown to be asymptotically efficient. The first method is a noniterative variant of a well-known alternating maximization technique for the likelihood function. It performs on par with ML in simulations but has the drawback of not allowing for extra structure in addition to the Kronecker structure. The second method is based on covariance matching principles and does not suffer from this drawback. However, while the large sample performance is the same, it performs somewhat worse than the first estimator in small samples. In addition, the Cramer-Rao lower bound for the problem is derived in a compact form. The problem of estimating the Kronecker factors and the problem of detecting if the Kronecker structure is a good model for the covariance matrix of a set of samples are related. Therefore, the problem of detecting the dimensions of the Kronecker factors based on the minimum values of the criterion functions corresponding to the two proposed estimation methods is also treated in this work.  相似文献

Four poly(oxadiazole-imide)s containing naphthalene rings, with different flexibility and molecular weight, are investigated with respect to their rheological properties to establish the optimal processing conditions from solution phase to film state for liquid crystal orientation purposes. The film uniformity and strength are determined by monitoring the flow behavior and chain entanglements. The solution rheological data are in agreement with film tensile testing, revealing that higher molecular weight favors chain entanglements and implicitly the film mechanical resistance. In order to analyze the suitability of these films as alignment layers their surface is patterned by rubbing with two types of velvet. Liquid crystal alignment of 4′-pentyl-4-biphenylcarbonitrile nematic is tested by polarized light microscopy. The resulting behavior is correlated with the polyimide malleability and characteristics of the textile fibers, namely their polarity, size, and mechanical features. The competitive effects between chain flexibility and entanglements, together with the interactions occurring between the polymer and velvet are analyzed in order to explain the surface regularity, which influences the uniformity of the liquid crystal alignment. The contrast between dark and bright states recorded on the liquid crystal cell indicates that some of these polynaphthalimides are promising candidates for liquid crystal display devices.  相似文献

Titanium alloys are commonly used as biomaterials in musculoskeletal applications, but their long-term efficacy can be limited by wear and corrosion, stress shielding, and bacterial colonization. As a promising alternative, bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) offer superior strength and corrosion resistance, but the influence of their chemical composition on their bioactivity remains largely unexplored. This study, therefore, aims to examine how the surface chemistry of palladium (Pd)-, platinum (Pt)-, and titanium (Ti)-based BMGs can steer their response to biological systems. The chemical composition of BMGs governs their thermophysical and mechanical properties, with Pd-based BMGs showing exceptional glass-forming ability suitable for larger implants, and all BMGs exhibiting a significantly lower Young's modulus than Ti-6Al-4 V (Ti64), suggesting a potential to reduce stress shielding. Although BMGs feature copper depletion at the near surface, their surface chemistry remains more stable than that of Ti64 and supports blood biocompatibility. Fibrin network formation is heavily dependent on BMGs’ chemical composition and Ti-based BMGs support thicker fibrin network formation than Ti64. Furthermore, BMGs outperform Ti64 in promoting mineralization of human bone progenitor cells and demonstrate antimicrobial properties against Staphylococcus aureus in a surface chemistry-dependent manner, thereby indicating their great potential as biomaterials for musculoskeletal applications.  相似文献

This paper considers the estimation of the parameters of a linear discrete-time system from noise-perturbed input and output measurements. The conditions imposed on the system are fairly general. In particular, the input and output noises are allowed to be auto-correlated and they may be cross-correlated as well. The proposed method makes use of an instrumental variable (IV)-vector to produce a covariance matrix that is pre- and postmultiplied by some prechosen weights. The singular vectors of the so-obtained matrix possess complete information on the system parameters. A weighted subspace fitting (WSF) method is then applied to the aforementioned singular vectors to consistently estimate the parameters of the system. The IV-WSF technique suggested herein is noniterative and easy to implement, and has a small computational burden. The asymptotic distribution of its estimation errors is derived and the result is used to motivate the choice of the weighting matrix in the WSF step and also to predict the estimation accuracy. In this article an iterative method to compute the maximal solution and the stabilising solution, respectively, of a wide class of discrete-time nonlinear equations on the linear space of symmetric matrices is proposed. The class of discrete-time nonlinear equations under consideration contains, as special cases, different types of discrete-time Riccati equations involved in various control problems for discrete-time stochastic systems. This article may be viewed as an addendum of the work of Dragan and Morozan (Dragan, V. and Morozan, T. (2009), ‘A Class of Discrete Time Generalized Riccati Equations’, Journal of Difference Equations and Applications, first published on 11 December 2009 (iFirst), doi: 10.1080/10236190802389381) where necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the maximal solution and stabilising solution of this kind of discrete-time nonlinear equations are given. The aim of this article is to provide a procedure for numerical computation of the maximal solution and the stabilising solution, respectively, simpler than the method based on the Newton–Kantorovich algorithm.  相似文献

The effect of fungal suspensions on the disinfectant solution (Actisept with sodium dichloroisocyanurate as active substance, which releases 140 ppm active chlorine) and the corrosion behavior of type AISI 304 stainless steel (SS) were evaluated through linear polarization. The work presents a study of biocide Actisept solution as reference solution and the mixed solutions: reference biocide Actisept solution with three fungal suspensions (10 vol%), Aspergillus niger, Candida mycoderma, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The fungal suspension has an important influence on the synergistic effect of the SS corrosion in the following order: Saccharomyces cerevisiae > Candida mycoderma > Aspergillus niger. The Ecorr values from the mixed solutions decreased with immersion time of the samples. In the case of Aspergillus niger, the corrosion rate was lower than that of any other type of fungal suspension tested, because the arrangement in solutions, the size and composition of Aspergillus niger spores were more favorable to protect the spores of the chemical and the electrical stressing. The results showed that there is a synergistic effect between the active substances from the disinfectant, fungal suspensions and applied potential, thus this effect can be taken into consideration for the hygienic and safety food industry.  相似文献

The principal aim of this study was to compare the sliding wear performance of as-sprayed and Hot Isostatically Pressed (HIPed) thermal spray cermet (WC-12Co) coatings. Results indicate that HIPing technique can be successfully applied to post-treat thermal spray cermet coatings for improved sliding wear performance, not only in terms of coating wear, but also in terms of the total volume loss for test couples. WC-12Co coatings sprayed by a HVOF system were deposited on SUJ-2 bearing steel substrate and then encapsulated and HIPed at 850 °C for one hour. A high frequency reciprocating ball on plate rig was used to measure the sliding wear resistance of these coatings in dry conditions under steel and ceramic contact configurations at two different loads. Results are discussed in terms of coating microstructure, microhardness, fracture toughness and residual stress evaluations. Microstructural investigations indicate fundamental changes in grain morphology, whereas x-ray diffraction revealed beneficial transformations in phase composition of these coatings during the HIPing post treatment. The effects of these microstructural changes on the physical properties and wear resistance are discussed.  相似文献
