Dynamic pattern analysis and motion extraction can be efficiently addressed using optical flow techniques. This article presents a generalization of these questions to non-flat surfaces, where optical flow is tackled through the problem of evolution processes on non-Euclidian domains. The classical equations of optical flow in the Euclidian case are transposed to the theoretical framework of differential geometry. We adopt this formulation for the regularized optical flow problem, prove its mathematical well-posedness and combine it with the advection equation. The optical flow and advection problems are dual: a motion field may be retrieved from some scalar evolution using optical flow; conversely, a scalar field may be deduced from a velocity field using advection. These principles are illustrated with qualitative and quantitative evaluations from numerical simulations bridging both approaches. The proof-of-concept is further demonstrated with preliminary results from time-resolved functional brain imaging data, where organized propagations of cortical activation patterns are evidenced using our approach.  相似文献

We introduce a new class VPSPACE of families of polynomials. Roughly speaking, a family of polynomials is in VPSPACE if its coefficients can be computed in polynomial space. Our main theorem is that if (uniform, constant-free) VPSPACE families can be evaluated efficiently then the class \sf PAR\mathbb R\sf {PAR}_{\mathbb {R}} of decision problems that can be solved in parallel polynomial time over the real numbers collapses to \sfP\mathbb R\sf{P}_{\mathbb {R}}. As a result, one must first be able to show that there are VPSPACE families which are hard to evaluate in order to separate \sfP\mathbb R\sf{P}_{\mathbb {R}} from \sfNP\mathbb R\sf{NP}_{\mathbb {R}}, or even from \sfPAR\mathbb R\sf{PAR}_{\mathbb {R}}.  相似文献

Abstract— The primary goal of this study was to find a measurement method for motion blur which is easy to carry out and gives results that can be reproduced from one lab to another. This method should be able to also take into account methods for reduction of motion blur such as backlight flashing. Two methods have been compared. The first method uses a high‐speed camera that permits us to directly picture the blurred‐edge profile. The second one exploits the mathematical analysis of the motion‐blur formation to construct the blurred‐edge profile from the temporal step response. We show how energy-filtered convergent-beam electron diffraction (EFCBED) patterns can be used to determine the chemical composition of buried semiconductor strained quantum wells. Our method is based on a quantitative analysis of the intensities of high-order Bragg lines in the transmitted disc of EFCBED patterns taken from plan-view samples. This analysis makes it possible to determine the displacement vector R introduced between the top and bottom parts of the matrix by the deformation of the quantum well and consequently to determine its composition. This is illustrated in the case of an In(x)Ga(1-)(x)As quantum well buried in a GaAs matrix. A detailed analysis of the effect of experimental parameters on Bragg lines intensity is performed. In particular, the importance of the choice of the diffraction vector is pointed out. The relative uncertainty on the measurement of the indium content x is found to be lower than 5% and a possible occurrence of slight compositional fluctuations in the (001) growth plane is pointed out.  相似文献

Lean ground beef was exposed to three dose levels of gamma radiations (Cobalt-60) (1·0, 2·5 and 5·0 kGy). Chemical indices monitored throughout the storage period (16 days, 4°C) included pH, free fatty acids and peroxides. Irradiation clearly contributed to a diminution of the pH and an increase of the peroxides. Free fatty acids were not affected. The 10 non-expert panellists indicated a noticeable effect of irradiation on the odour and colour of the raw product. The odour and flavour of the irradiated cooked ground beef was slightly disliked while no difference was perceived in the colour and texture of the cooked irradiated ground beef. Following these considerations, it is recommended that ground beef be treated with a low dose (such as 1 kGy).  相似文献

Using the consumer-oriented approach of social and commercial marketers, this article presents a process for crafting messages designed to improve people's health behaviors. The process, termed consumer-based health communications (CHC), transforms scientific recommendations into message strategies that are relevant to the consumer. The core of CHC is consumer research conducted to understand the consumer's reality, and thereby allowing six strategic questions to be answered. The immediate result of the CHC process is a strategy statement--a few pages that lay out who the target consumer is, what action should be taken, what to promise and how to make the promise credible, how and when to reach him or her, and what image to convey. The strategy statement then guides the execution of all communication efforts, be they public relations, mass media, direct marketing, media advocacy, or interpersonal influence. It identifies the most important "levers" for contact with the consumer. Everyone from creative specialists through management and program personnel can use the strategy statement as a touchstone to guide and judge the effectiveness of their efforts. The article provides a step by step illustration of the CHC process using the 5 A Day campaign as an example.  相似文献

This paper discusses the effect of porosity and hydrostatic pressure on diffusion kinetics and equilibrium water uptake in a semicrystalline fluoropolymer. Water sorption experiments at atmospheric pressure and under water pressures up to 250 MPa were carried out during 18 months at 40 °C on reference and porous samples. Porosity of samples was induced due to a cavitation process occurring at the highest triaxiality area of waisted and notched specimens during tensile tests. Water uptake was found to be very sensitive to porosity, showing an increase in samples with a high void fraction. On the other hand, water content decreased with increasing pressure suggesting a compaction of the porous space in which water can be stored. Two models describing this water uptake behaviour were considered. The first is a classical model which assumes that sorption occurs only by diffusion following Fick’s law. Fick’s model was found to be in agreement with the experimental results. A “Langmuir-type” sorption model was also proposed to describe water uptake in porous samples, considering a two-phase water transport mechanism: one portion of the absorbed water diffuses through the polymer matrix and the other portion is stored in voids. This model was implemented in a user subroutine using ABAQUS? software and simulations were confronted to experimental sorption curves showing satisfactory agreements. The potential of the Langmuir-type sorption model resides on its availability to be coupled to a poro-mechanical model, in order to improve the understanding of coupling between the mechanical behaviour and water sorption mechanism in a porous polymer.  相似文献

The basic principles of the discrete duality and nonlinear monotone finite volume methods are combined in order to obtain a new monotone nonlinear finite volume method for the approximation of diffusion operators on general meshes. Numerical results highlight both the second‐order accuracy of this method on general meshes and its capability to deal with challenging anisotropic diffusion problems on various computational domains.
