The original generalized linear least squares (GLLS) algorithm was developed for non-uniformly sampled biomedical system parameter estimation using finely sampled instantaneous measurements (D. Feng, S.C. Huang, Z. Wang, D. Ho, An unbiased parametric imaging algorithm for non-uniformly sampled biomedical system parameter estimation, IEEE Trans. Med. Imag. 15 (1996) 512-518). This algorithm is particularly useful for image-wide generation of parametric images with positron emission tomography (PET), as it is computationally efficient and statistically reliable (D. Feng, D. Ho, Chen, K., L.C. Wu, J.K. Wang, R.S. Liu, S.H. Yeh, An evaluation of the algorithms for determining local cerebral metabolic rates of glucose using positron emission tomography dynamic data, IEEE Trans. Med. Imag. 14 (1995) 697-710). However, when dynamic PET image data are sampled according to the optimal image sampling schedule (OISS) to reduce memory and storage space (X. Li, D. Feng, K. Chen, Optimal image sampling schedule: A new effective way to reduce dynamic image storage space and functional image processing time, IEEE Trans. Med. Imag. 15 (1996) 710-718), only a few temporal image frames are recorded (e.g. only four images are recorded for the four parameter fluoro-deoxy-glucose (FDG) model). These image frames are recorded in terms of accumulated radio-activity counts and as a result, the direct application of GLLS is not reliable as instantaneous measurement samples can no longer be approximated by averaging of accumulated measurements over the sampling intervals. In this paper, we extend GLLS to OISS-GLLS which deals with the fewer accumulated measurement samples obtained from OISS dynamic systems. The theory and algorithm of this new technique are formulated and studied extensively. To investigate statistical reliability and computational efficiency of OISS-GLLS, a simulation study using dynamic PET data was performed. OISS-GLLS using 4-measurement samples was compared to the non-linear least squares (NLS) method using 22-measurement samples, GLLS using 22-measurement samples and OISS-NLS using 4-measurement samples. Results demonstrated that OISS-GLLS was able to achieve parameter estimates of equivalent accuracy and reliability in comparison to NLS or GLLS using finely sampled measurements (22-measurement samples), or OISS-NLS using optimally sampled measurements (4-measurement samples). Further more, as fewer measurement samples are used in OISS-GLLS, this algorithm is computationally faster than NLS or GLLS. Therefore, OISS-GLLS is well-suited for image-wide parameter estimation when PET image data are recorded according to the optimal image sampling schedule.  相似文献

The superconducting layers under investigation have been Nb3Sn on a niobium substrate and Nb3Ge on a stainless steel substrate. It has been proved that the layered structure of the tapes is well reflected by the stepwise character of the ac losses dependence on the amplitude of the surface magnetic field. A dynamic event tree method for analyzing the risk associated with dynamic nuclear power plant accident sequences is presented. The method provides a framework for treating stochastic variations in operating crew states (defined by substrates characterizing the accident diagnosis, the planned actions, and the crew quality) as well as stochastic variations in hardware states. Plant process variables are treated deterministically; they are used when determining the likelihood of stochastic branchings. The method is used in an analysis of a steam generator tube rupture (SGTR) accident; it is shown that a number of important operator behavior patterns can be reasonably represented, and that, comparing with conventional event trees, sources of dependencies between failure events can be better defined.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: BCH-4556 ((-)-2'-deoxy-3'-oxacytidine) is an L-nucleoside analogue shown to have broad preclinical anti-cancer activity, particularly against solid neoplasms such as prostate, renal, and hepatoma in vitro and in vivo, in contrast to cytosine arabinoside (ara-C) which is preferentially active against leukemia. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The antitumor activity of BCH-4556 was evaluated using human tumor colony-forming unit (HTCFU) assay, in which fresh tumor specimens were taken directly from patients with and without prior chemotherapy. RESULTS: Overall, in vitro responses (50% or less survival compared to untreated controls) were observed in 11% (two of 18), 29% (five of 17) and 50% (nine of 18) of specimens treated for one hour with BCH-4556 at 1, 10 and 100 micrograms/ml, respectively; and 16% (nine of 55), 32% (24 of 74), 48% (35 of 73) and 65% (11 of 17) of specimens treated continuously with BCH-4556 at 0.1, 1, 10 and 100 micrograms/ml, respectively. With the one-hour schedule, a significant difference in response rates was noted between 100 micrograms/ml and 1 microgram/ml (P = 0.02). With the continuous schedule, significant differences in response rates were observed between 1 microgram/ml and 0.1 microgram/ml (P = 0.02), between 10 micrograms/ml and 0.1 microgram/ml (P = 0.0001), as well as between 10 micrograms/ml and 1 microgram/ml (P = 0.01). A trend suggesting the superiority of continuous exposure was observed in paired specimens (n = 18) at comparable drug concentrations. Activity was noted against ovarian (nine of 16 = 56%), renal (three of four = 75%), and melanoma (two of two = 100%) HTCFU at 10 micrograms/ml using the continuous schedule. Comparisons between BCH-4556 and paclitaxel were made in 32 specimens at 10 micrograms/ml using the continuous exposure. Twenty-three specimens showed similar responses with both drugs; seven showed better responses with BCH-4556; and two showed better responses with paclitaxel (P = 0.18). CONCLUSIONS: Promising activity was observed with BCH-4556 against ovarian, renal, and melanoma HTCFU. There appeared to be a positive relationship between BCH-4556 concentration and response using both one-hour and continuous exposures. Continuous exposure to BCH-4556 provided high response rates especially at concentrations above 10 micrograms/ml. For both one-hour and continuous exposures, BCH-4556 had similar, and at times, greater potency than paclitaxel against the same tumor specimens in the present study.  相似文献

An efficient algorithm for computing radix-3/9 discrete Hartley transforms (DHTs) is presented. It is shown that the radix-3/9 fast Hartley transform (FHT) algorithm reduces the number of multiplications required by a radix-3 FHT algorithm for nearly 50%. For the computation of real-valued discrete Fourier transforms (DFTs) with sequence lengths that are powers of 3, it is shown that the radix-3/9 FHT algorithm reduces the number of multiplications by 16.2% over the fastest real-valued radix-3/9 fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm  相似文献

Spin echo (SE) T1 axial scans are routinely obtained in magnetic resonance imaging of the lumbar spine in many centres. This study directly compared matched SE T1 and fast SE (FSE) proton density (PD) axial scans. Both SE T1 and FSE PD axial scans of the lumbar spine were obtained in 116 consecutive patients. The imaging parameters (field-of-view, slice thickness, interslice gap, number of excitations and matrix size) and scan levels were identical for each pair of sequences. At two selected levels, L4/5 and L5/S1, various structures were independently graded by two observers. In 232 lumbar levels analysed, the bone marrow, epidural fat, disc, extradural nerve root and facet joint were equally well seen on both sequences by both observers (combined mean grades of 2.93-2.99). The thecal sac was marginally better depicted on FSE PD than on SE T1 images, with mean grades of 2.96 and 2.88, respectively. The psoas muscle was adequately visualized for diagnostic purposes on both sequences (mean grades of 2.30-2.32). The cauda equina were better seen on FSE PD (mean grade 1.92) than on SE T1 (mean grade 1.00) images. In conclusion, FSE PD scans are comparable to and may potentially replace SE T1 axial MR scans of the lumbar spine.  相似文献

Only a limited number of methods have been proposed to realize heterogeneous transcoding, for example from MPEG-2 to H.263, or from H.264 to H.263. The major difficulties of transcoding a B-picture to a P-picture are that the incoming discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients of the B-frame are prediction errors arising from both forward and backward predictions, whilst the prediction errors in the DCT domain arising from the prediction using the previous frame alone are not available. The required new prediction errors need to be re-estimated in the pixel domain. This process involves highly complex computation and introduces re-encoding errors. We propose a new approach to convert a B-picture into a P-picture by making use of some properties of motion compensation in the DCT domain and the direct addition of DCT coefficients. We derive a set of equations and formulate the problem of how to obtain the DCT coefficients. One difficulty is that the last P-frame inside a GOP with an IBBP structure, for example, needs to be transcoded to become the last P-frame in the IPPP structure, and it has to be linked to the previous reconstructed P-frame instead of to the I-frame. We increased the speed of the transcoding process by making use of the motion activity which is expressed in terms of the correlation between pictures. The whole transcoding process is done in the transform domain, hence re-encoding errors are completely avoided. Results from our experimental work show that the proposed video transcoder not only achieves a speed-up of two to six times that of the conventional video transcoder, but it also substantially improves the quality of the video.  相似文献

Objective: The University of Rhode Island Change Assessment (URICA) Scale has been widely used to assess the readiness to change with regard to various health-related behaviors. The present study aimed to develop a Chinese version of the URICA (C-URICA) for measuring the readiness to change of Chinese participants with chronic diseases. Participants: A group of participants (N=101; 87 women and 14 men) in a chronic disease self-management program were asked to complete the C-URICA. Method: The C-URICA was conducted at the baseline, middle, and end of the 6-week program. Changes in self-management behaviors were also measured. Results: Factor analyses revealed a moderate item-to-subscale fit, indicating that structural validity was retained. Item analyses suggested a moderate item quality. The C-URICA subscales can differentially and effectively predict participants' gains in self-management behaviors at the completion of the intervention program. Conclusion: The C-URICA is suitable for use among Chinese patients with chronic diseases. Further studies should explore the generalizability of the results to different diagnostic groups and subgroups among Chinese populations. In the past, most design and optimization work on hybrid video codecs relied mainly on experimental evidence. A proper theoretical model is always desirable, since this allows us to explain the phenomena of existing codecs and to design better ones. In this paper, we make use of the first-order Markov model to derive an approximated separable autocorrelation model for the block-based motion compensation frame difference (MCFD) signal. A major assumption of our derivation is that the net deformation of pixels is directional, in general, rather than a uniform error distribution in a block. We have also shown that the imperfect block-based motion compensation is significant to the theoretical study and the behavior of motion-compensated codecs. Results of our experimental work show that the derived model can describe the statistical characteristics of the MCFD signals accurately. The model also shows that the imperfectly formulated block-based motion compensation can result in an incorrect MCFD autocorrelation function while, conversely, it can form a better block-based motion compensation scheme.  相似文献

This paper advocates the use of multi-agent systems in the freight forwarding industry. We propose an intelligent mobile agent system to cope with a dynamic freight forwarding environment where up-to-date information is crucial but time-consuming to obtain. A key component of our system is an agent argumentation mechanism that allows decision support agents to discuss, argue, and come to a compromise in order to derive well-explained freight planning solutions. A number of artificial intelligence mechanisms are implemented, namely: (1) a mobile-agent-based automated information gathering mechanism, where designated mobile agents access various websites automatically to gather information (e.g., weather conditions on a candidate route) critical for cargo consolidation and route planning, (2) a fuzzy logics engine for risk evaluation, and (3) a simulated annealing engine for optimizing cargo consolidation. A system prototype is developed and the feasibility of our approach is demonstrated in a case study. A series of experiments are also conducted to evaluate the system’s performance.  相似文献
