The gelation of myosin has a very important role in meat products. We have already shown that myosin in low ionic strength solution containing l ‐histidine forms a transparent gel after heating. To clarify the mechanism of this unique gelation, we investigated the changes in the nature of myosin subfragments during heating in solutions with low and high ionic strengths with and without l ‐histidine. The hydrophobicity of myosin and heavy meromyosin (HMM) in low ionic strength solution containing l ‐histidine was lower than in high ionic strength solution. The SH contents of myosin and HMM in low ionic strength solution containing l ‐histidine did not change during the heating process, whereas in high ionic strength solution they decreased slightly. The heat‐induced globular masses of HMM in low ionic strength solution containing l ‐histidine were smaller than those in high ionic strength solution. These findings suggested that the polymerization of HMM molecules by heating was suppressed in low ionic strength solution containing l ‐histidine, resulting in formation of the unique gel. 相似文献

Dielectric and electrical properties of Permalloy granular composite materials have been studied considering the application to left-handed meta-materials. Surface oxidized Permalloy particles have high surface electrical resistance; the eddy current effect in the composite structure is suppressed. The electrical conductivity of compacted Permalloy particles increases with increasing temperature and indicates the semiconductive layer formation on the particle. The low frequency ac electrical conductivity of Permalloy composite materials shows a drastic increase in the particle content between 50 and 60 vol.%. Electrical permittivity spectra of Permalloy composites show a non-metallic characteristic and the enhancement of permittivity is observed with increase of Permalloy particle content. 相似文献

Phase diagram calculations that were made previously for the ZrO2-MO m/2 (m = 2, 3, 4) systems and for the ZrO2-YO1.5-MO m/2 (M = transition metals) systems have been extended to the ZrO2-YO1.5-CeO2(-CeO1.5) system to make an attempt to explain (1) thermogravimetric (TG) results as a function of oxygen potential, (2) electronic conductivity as a function of oxygen potential, and (3) a miscibility gap observed in air. The interaction parameters for the CeO2-CeO1.5-YO1.5 system were obtained from the reported oxygen nonstoichiometry in CeO2−x and rate earth doped ceria, (Ce,RE)O2−δ . The interaction parameters for the ZrO2-CeO2 subsystem were obtained so as to reproduce the observed miscibility gap at 1273 K. Those thermodynamic properties can reproduce consistently the experimental behaviors of the electronic conductivity and the TG results in the (Zr1−x Ce x )0.8Y0.2O1.9 solid solutions; these indicate the enhancement of reduction of CeO2. 相似文献

A compact horn with low cross polarization component less than -35 dB over 5% frequency bandwidth has been obtained by optimizing the taper configuration. To reduce the gain loss caused by spherical wavefront in a short length horn with a large flare angle, a serpentine-shaped taper successfully generates five higher-order modes. Such a taper configuration is represented by varying lengths of various uniform waveguides in stepwise approximation, while keeping the dimension of each step discontinuity constant. As a result, the computational time for obtaining the proposed horn is greatly reduced because scattering matrices of the step discontinuities are pre-calculated before the optimization. In order to suppress sufficiently the low-frequency components and reduce the occurrence probability of long-run-lengths for the recording data sequence, a new conversion table and bit-rearrangement method have been introduced in this modulation scheme. This conversion table has been particularly structured to reduce run-length using the bit-rearrangement process. Three kinds of typical HDTV images were used to evaluate the performance compared with the scrambled-NRZ method. The run-length distribution and the frequency spectrum were calculated for each image. The results showed that the occurrence probability of long-run-lengths were well reduced and the low-frequency components along with the DC component were sufficiently suppressed. In two-thirds of patients with splenic lymphoma with villous lymphocytes (SLVL) a small amount of M-protein can be detected in association with the presence of plasma cells in the peripheral blood (PB) and/or bone marrow (BM). However, it is not known whether lymphoma cells and plasma cells originate from the same clone. In this report we describe a case of SLVL which was characterized by the presence of marked monoclonal gammopathy (IgG-kappa 90 g/l) and increased plasma cells in the BM. In an attempt to elucidate the origin of lymphoma cells and plasma cells, we performed morphological, cytogenetic and molecular studies on PB mononuclear cells (PBMNC) without plasma cells and BMMNC containing 10% plasma cells from this patient. Immunofluorescence showed that lymphoma cells and plasma cells were positive for cytoplasmic gamma heavy and kappa light chains. Well-developed endoplasmic reticulum was observed in the cytoplasmic organelles of PBMNC using an electron microscope. The mean IgG concentration in the 3 d supernatant cultures of PBMNC was 374 +/- 24 microg/l. More than 50% PBMNC differentiated into plasmacytoid cells in 6 d of liquid culture with IL-3 and IL-6. Analysis by two-colour FISH revealed that karyotypic abnormalities of monosomy X and trisomy 17 existed simultaneously in both lymphoma cells and plasma cells. JH gene rearranged bands from PBMNC and BMMNC by Southern blot hybridization were identical, whereas DNAs from PBMNC failed to hybridize with the Cmu probe. These observations strongly suggest that lymphoma cells and plasma cells originate from the same clone, and that plasma cells, as well as lymphoma cells, which have undergone class switch recombination, could produce IgG type M-protein in this case. 相似文献

The MICs of ofloxacin for 743 strains of Escherichia coli isolated from 1988 to 1994 were determined by testing. The strains were from patients with urinary tract infections complicated by functional or anatomical disorders of the urinary tract. Those determined to be ofloxacin resistant (MIC, > or =12.5 microg/ml) comprised 3 of 395 strains (1.3%) from the 1988 to 1990 group, 2 of 166 strains (1.2%) from the 1991 to 1992 group, and 7 of 182 strains (3.8%) from the 1993 to 1994 group. The incidence of resistant strains increased significantly during this period. The percentage of isolates with moderately decreased susceptibilities to ofloxacin (MIC, 0.39 to 3.13 microg/ml) also rose during the same period. To determine the incidence of gyrA mutations in urinary-tract-derived strains of E. coli, we developed a simple and rapid assay based on PCR amplification of the region of the gyrA gene containing the mutation sites followed by digestion of the PCR product with a restriction enzyme. Using this assay, we examined all 182 strains isolated in 1993 and 1994 for the presence of mutations at Ser-83 and Asp-87 in the gyrA gene. Of these strains, 33 (18.1%) had mutations in the gyrA gene. The incidences of mutations at Ser-83, at Asp-87, and at both codons were 10.4 (19 strains), 4.4 (8 strains), and 3.3% (6 strains), respectively. To determine the correlation of the mutations in the gyrA gene with susceptibilities to quinolones (nalidixic acid, ofloxacin, norfloxacin, and ciprofloxacin), we further examined 116 strains for which the MICs of ofloxacin were > or =0.2 microg/ml that were chosen from the isolates in the 1988 to 1992 group. The MICs of nalidixic acid for the strains without mutations at either Ser-83 or Asp-87 were < or =25 microg/ml, whereas those for the strains with single mutations or double mutations were from 50 to >800 microg/ml. For the fluoroquinolones, significant differences in the distributions of the MICs were observed among the strains without mutations, with single mutations, and with double mutations. The accumulation of mutations in the gyrA gene was associated with an increase in fluoroquinolone resistance. Ofloxacin MICs for the majority of the strains with single and double mutations were 0.39 to 3.13 and 6.25 to 100 microg/ml, respectively. This study demonstrates a chronological increase in the percentage of not only highly fluoroquinolone-resistant strains, corresponding to those with double mutations in the gyrA gene, but also strains with moderately decreased susceptibilities to fluoroquinolones, corresponding to those with single mutations. This increase in the incidence of strains with a single mutation in the gyrA gene portends a further increase in the incidence of strains with clinically significant resistance to fluoroquinolones. 相似文献

New anionic surfactants 2-alkyloyl-1,4,3,6-dianhydrosorbitol-5-sulfates were synthesized by sulfation of 2-alkyloyl-1,4,3,6-dianhydrosorbitol.
Studies on the surface active properties such as surface tension, dispersibility and emulsifiability of these surfactants
