This paper deals with the study of the radiation effects on the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of an incompressible viscous fluid in a porous space. The flow is induced due to a non-linear stretching sheet. Two cases of heat transfer analysis are discussed. These are: (i) the sheet with constant surface temperature (CST case) and (ii) the sheet with prescribed surface temperature (PST case). By means of similarity transformation, the governing partial differential equations are reduced into highly non-linear ordinary differential equations. The resulting non-linear system has been solved analytically using a very efficient technique namely homotopy analysis method (HAM). Expressions for velocity and temperature fields are developed in series form. Convergence of the series solution is shown explicitly. The influence of various pertinent parameters is also seen on the velocity and temperature fields. The tabulated values of the wall shear stress and the Nusselt number show good agreement with the existing results.  相似文献

An exact solution is developed for the problem of diffraction of an E-polarized and an H-polarized spherical waves by a slit in an impedance screen. This consideration is important in the sense that point sources are regarded as better substitutes for real sources than line sources/plane waves. The two independent problems are solved using the Fourier transform, the Wiener-Hopf technique and asymptotic approximations.  相似文献

This study concentrates on the heat transfer characteristics and endoscope effects for peristaltic flow of a third order fluid. Two models of variable viscosity are chosen. Both perturbation and numerical solutions are obtained in each case. A comparative study is also made between the two solutions. Since the discovery of superconductivity at temperatures above the technologically promising liquid nitrogen temperatures, applications based on superconductors have expanded and are being put to commercial use. However, superconductivity at higher temperatures typically occurs in complex materials requiring stringent material and environmental constraints. Such restraints make the realization and integration of these materials with normal materials a nontrivial aspect. In this progress report, unique features of these superconductors in terms of their synthesis, physical properties determining interface electrical transport, and their applications are discussed. A detailed progress report on these applications with remarks on efforts taken to integrate these devices with traditional platforms and semiconducting materials is provided.  相似文献

Ascorbic acid (AA) was encapsulated in glassy low‐dextrose equivalent maltodextrin matrix by extrusion. The effects of formulation parameters, i.e., core/matrix ratio and water content were mainly investigated on Tg of extrudate. The AA yield, AA content and water content of the products together with extrusion parameters were also determined and compared for different formulations. The Tg of extrudates containing water content from 7.860% to 10.430% ranged from 43.17 to 27.48 °C, and the Tg of extrudates which core to matrix from 1:4 to 1:8 ranged from 35.79 to 41.64 °C. AA yield of all extrudates is above 96%, and with increasing water content, there was a slight decrease in the AA yield. The increased water level and core/matrix ratio reduce specific mechanical energy and die head pressure. X‐ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy suggested that AA was most likely molecularly dispersed within the maltodextrin indicating the miscibility of AA and maltodextrin.  相似文献

A new parameter, blank stiffness, with a potential effect on the formability in single point incremental forming (SPIF) has been introduced and investigated. Various plates with a square hole at the center and half-side length of the square ranging from 12–56mm were used as backing plates for blanks. It is shown that with a decrease in the size of hole/work-piece, there is an increase in the blank stiffness. This increase in the stiffness in turn adversely affects the formability in SPIF process.  相似文献

The likelihood of developing cancer during one's lifetime is approximately one in two for men and one in three for women in the United States. Cancer is the second-leading cause of death and accounts for one in every four deaths. Evidence-based policy planning and decision making by cancer researchers and public health administrators are best accomplished with up-to-date age-adjusted site-specific cancer death rates. Because of the 3-year lag in reporting, forecasting methodology is employed here to estimate the current year rates based on complete observed death data up through three years prior to the current year. The authors expand the State Space Model (SSM) statistical methodology currently in use by the American Cancer Society (ACS) to predict age-adjusted cancer death rates for the current year. These predictions are compared with those from the previous Proc Forecast ACS method and results suggest the expanded SSM performs well.  相似文献
