By using structural equations, we investigated the effect of chronic stress on salivary cortisol rhythm and proposed a causal model of chronic stress by using psychosocial and physiological data. First, 111 healthy workers (48 males, 63 females) completed questionnaires on chronic stress and lifestyle habits. Then, they provided saliva samples and answered questionnaires that were prepared to assess their psychological states 5 times (on waking up and at 10:00, 11:40, 14:00, and 16:00) on workdays. Structural equation modeling (SEM) revealed that chronic stress and longer commuting time resulted in sleep irregularities and this disrupted the cortisol circadian rhythm. This suggests that chronic stress disrupts the cortisol circadian rhythm even in healthy individuals, and sleep regularity mediates the effect of chronic stress on the cortisol rhythm.
A numerical evaluation is conducted of electric field distributions, phase constants, and attenuation constants of the lowest eigenmode in the general class of uniformly bent circular hollow waveguides. The analysis is based on a scalar equation, and numerical results are compared with those of existing approximate theories. Normalized forms of attenuation constants are presented for the parallel and perpendicular polarizations to the bending plane by using structural and material parameters. For sharply bent waveguides, useful and simple expressions are derived for the attenuation constants of the TE and TM modes in the corresponding slab geometry with suitable weighting parameters 相似文献
Cytogenin, 8-hydroxy-3-hydroxymethyl-6-methoxyisocoumarin, has low cytotoxicity on murine and human tumour cells in vitro. It augments or suppresses phagocytosis of macrophages and lymphocyte proliferation. It has been reported that cytogenin has a potent inhibitory effect clinically on adjuvant arthritis in Lewis rats and on type II collagen-induced arthritis in DBA/1J mice. Our experimental findings provide evidence that cytogenin has beneficial effects on spontaneous polyarthritis in MRL/1 mice and pristane-induced arthritis in DBA/1J mice. The results suggest that the mode of the anti-arthritic action of cytogenin is different from those of NSAIDs; although the precise mode of action remains unclear, cytogenin may become an excellent therapeutic agent for rheumatoid arthritis. 相似文献
The presence of nitric oxide (NO) in the kidney has been implicated in the pathogenesis of human glomerulonephritis. However, the exact type of glomerular cells that express NO synthase (NOS) and the NOS isoform involved in the local production of NO has not been identified in the human diseased kidney. We examined the expression of three isoforms of NOS, inducible NOS (iNOS), endothelial NOS (eNOS) and brain NOS (bNOS) in the renal tissue of patients with IgA nephropathy (IgAN, N = 10), lupus nephritis (LN, N = 5), membranous nephropathy (MN, N = 5) and minimal change nephrotic syndrome (MCNS, N = 5). Sections were immunostained and the correlation between the expression of each NOS and the degree of glomerular injury in that section was also examined. Normal portions of surgically resected kidneys served as controls. eNOS was present in glomerular endothelial cells and endothelium of cortical vessels in the control and diseased kidneys. iNOS was localized in mesangial cells, glomerular epithelial cells and infiltrating cells in the diseased glomeruli, whereas immunostaining for iNOS was hardly detected in control kidneys. In addition, the expression pattern of eNOS in each glomerulus was the reverse of that of iNOS. In IgAN and LN, the extent of staining for eNOS correlated negatively with the degree of glomerular injury, while the extent of staining for iNOS correlated positively with the degree of glomerular injury in the same tissues. bNOS was not detected in normal or nephritic glomeruli. Our results indicate the presence of a NO pathway in human diseased kidney, and suggest that NO derived from eNOS and iNOS may be involved in the progression of renal diseases and that NO derived from each NOS may play an important role in different way in human inflamed glomeruli. 相似文献
A 57-year-old man underwent Bentall's procedure (Piehler's modification) and partial aortic arch replacement for Stanford type A chronic aortic dissection. Circumferential detachment of intima with intimal intussusception into the aortic arch was found at the time of operation. Preoperative findings did not show the intimal tear involving entire circumference of the ascending aorta. He was asymptomatic but coughing before consulting our hospital. He was discharged from the hospital 26 days after operation. 相似文献
The liver and spleen both have important phagocytic functions and contain monocytes/macrophages which clear immune complexes. We describe here three patients who presented proteinuria and hematuria 7 to 13 years after portosystemic shunt surgery, which diverted portal venous blood to the systemic circulation. They had hematemesis and/or melena and underwent mesocaval shunt surgery and splenectomy in childhood because of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension with esophageal varices. Renal biopsy specimens revealed findings characteristic of membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN) type I. Immunohistologically, these three cases were accompanied by a distinct IgA deposition along with a marked C3 deposition. The IgA observed in these three cases contained not only IgA1 but also IgA2, which is the predominant form of mucosal IgA. On the other hand, of 20 patients with idiopathic MPGN type I with IgA deposition (n = 20), only two were positive for IgA2, and the distribution was focal and segmental. Our study shows that MPGN type I may have developed secondary to portosystemic shunt. This secondary form of MPGN type I may be caused by a reduced clearance of immune complexes in the liver and their deposition in the glomerulus, since a portosystemic shunt routes portal venous blood from the intestinal tract directly to the systemic circulation. 相似文献
Flexural test specimens were injection-molded from six homoisotactic polypropylenes with MFI = 0.49-25.1 dg/min under cylinder temperatures of 200-320°C. Distributions in the flow direction of higher-order structures such as crystallinity Xc, thickness of skin layer, a*-axis-oriented component fraction [A*], and crystalline orientation functions and distributions in the thickness direction of higher-order structures such as Xc, β-crystal contents, [A*], and crystalline orientation functions were studied. These higher-order structures are inhomogeneous in the flow and thickness directions, which strongly influences the product properties such as mechanical and thermal properties. Molecular orientation process in injection molding was theoretically analyzed from a viewpoint of growth of recoverable shear strain at the gate and its relaxation in the cavity, which could considerably well explain the variations in the flow and thickness directions of the quantities such as thickness of the skin layer and crystalline orientation functions which express the degree of molecular orientation. 相似文献
ABSTRACT Thin-layer re-wetting experiments were conducted with medium grain rough rice in the temperature range of 17.8 to 45°C and for relative humidities between 56 and 89.3%, with initial moisture contents in the range of 10.26 to 12.71% dry-basis to determine the diffusion coefficient of rough rice. Recent efforts to characterize the re-wetting characteristics of rough rice are summarized. New equation for temperature dependent liquid diffusion coefficients for medium grain rough rice are presented. The diffusion coefficient in re-wetting was lower than the drying. The results presented here, over typically five day re-wetting, will be useful in studying the longer term moisture transfer process occurring during ventilated storage. 相似文献
