This study considers a two-class production system that is subject to operational and quality failures. A generalized example for such systems is the remanufacturing processes where new and used parts are handled by the same machines. Here the impurities of used parts bring additional load to machines that are shared by new and used parts. In order to analyze the process first the single machine operation is modeled as a Continuous Time Markov Chain. Then based on the single machine model, a model for a two-machine-one-buffer-system is constructed. Here in order to attain computational tractability for systems with larger buffers state aggregation and randomized part type sequencing is considered for both machines. Then using this model the impact of the remanufacturing ratio on the effective throughput rate of the system is numerically analyzed.  相似文献

This essay questions the nature of intra-urban borders from a politico-ethical point of view. Namely: to what extent are intra-urban borders acceptable at a time of proliferating discourses about a borderless world, and open cities? We discuss this through a case study of Sulukule – a historic neighborhood home to a millennium old Roma community located within the historic city center of Istanbul – in the context of the urban renewal project launched by the local municipality. The often cited “humanitarian” pretext for the renewal project is “incorporating” the Sulukule’s poor Roma community into the city and tearing down the borders demarcating their ghetto. Eventually, this discourse of incorporation served to instigate a rapid episode of gentrification in the area. Offering a critical perspective on the municipality’s renewal project, and through a discussion of the often conflicting premises of the discourses of the “right to the city” and the “group right to difference,” this essay argues that intra-urban borders are “undecided” separators and calls for policy tools that are responsive to the enabling aspects of bordering processes.  相似文献

The characteristic lubricity and non-fouling behavior of polymer brushes is critically dependent on the solvation of the polymer chains, as well as the chain-chain interactions. Dextran brushes have shown promise as non-toxic aqueous lubricant films, and are similar in composition to natural lubricating systems, while their comparative simplicity allows for controlled preparation and fine characterization. This project entails measuring the solvation and lubricity of dextran brushes in the presence of additives which modify the inter-chain hydrogen bonding. The thickness and refractive index of the film were measured during adsorption of the brush layer onto a silica substrate and the subsequent immersion in solutions of potassium sulfate and α, α-trehalose. We also studied the lubricity of the system as a function of normal loading using colloidal-probe AFM. Both solutes are shown to have a minimal effect on the hydration of the brush while significantly reducing the brush lubricity, indicating that inter-chain hydrogen bonding supports the load-bearing capacity of polysaccharide brushes.  相似文献

The aim of the research was to determine the productivity of the URUS MIII cable system during transporting of Spruce timbers from the Turkey mountainous selective forests of Spruce, Scotch pine and Beech. This research was conducted in Artvin General Directorate of Forestry. Cable system productivity was determined by the time study method. The research shows the results of some working characteristics of the URUS MIII cable system, such as; transporting speed of carriage (loaded and unloaded), load volume, time consumptions of felling area, fuel consumptions, productivity of cable system and transporting distance.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a novel technique for the problem of designing a Content Distribution Network (CDN), which is a technology used to efficiently distribute electronic content throughout an existing IP network. Our design proposal consists of jointly deciding on (i) the number and placement of proxy servers on a given set of potential nodes, (ii) replicating content on the proxy servers, and (iii) routing the requests for the content to a suitable proxy server such that the total cost of distribution is minimized. We model the problem using a nonlinear integer programming formulation. The novelty of the proposed formulation lies in simultaneously addressing three interdependent problems in this context as well as explicitly representing the distribution structure of a CDN through the objective function. We offer a linearization for the model, develop an exact solution procedure based on Benders’ decomposition and also utilize a variant of this procedure to accelerate the algorithm. In addition, we provide a fast and efficient heuristic that can be used to obtain near-optimal solutions to the problem. Finally, the paper concludes with computational results showing the performance of the decomposition procedure and the heuristic algorithm on randomly generated Internet topologies.  相似文献

In this study, two approaches are compared to develop nanostructured membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) using layer‐by‐layer (lbl) technique. The first is based on the direct deposition of polyallylamine hydrochloride (PAH) and sulfonated polyaniline (sPAni) on Nafion support to prepare lbl composite membrane. In the second approach, sPAni is coated on the support in the presence of platinum (Pt) salt, Nafion solution and Vulcan for obtaining catalyst containing membranes (CCMs). SEM and UV–vis analysis show that the multilayers are deposited on both sides of Nafion successfully. Although H2/O2 single cell performances of acid doped lbl composite membrane based MEA are found to be at the range of 126 and 160 mW cm?2 depending on the number of deposited layers, the cell performance of MEA obtained from catalyst containing lbl self‐assembled thin membrane (PAH/sPAni‐H+)10‐Pt is found to be 360 mW cm?2 with a Pt utilization of 720 mW mgPt?1. This performance is 82% higher as compared to original Nafion®117 based MEA (198 mW cm?2). From the cell performance evaluations for different structured MEAs, it is mainly found out that the use of lbl CCMs instead of composite membranes and fabrication of thinner electrolytes result in a higher H2/O2 cell activity due to significant reduction in ohmic resistivity. Also, it is observed that the use of sPAni slightly improves the cell performance due to an increased probability of the triple phase contact and it can lead to superior physicochemical properties such as conductivity and thermal stability. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. Italica) florets were packaged in low‐density polyethylene (LDPE) bags with or without ethylene adsorber under passive modified atmosphere and then stored at 4°C for 20 days. LDPE films with (8% Tazetut® masterbatch, M2) or without ethylene adsorber (M1) were tested. The effects of modified atmosphere packaging treatments on gas concentrations (O2, CO2 and ethylene) in the headspace, the mass loss, colour, texture, pH, total soluble solids, chlorophyll content, total phenolic content and sensory quality of packaged broccoli were determined by comparing with unpackaged (control) florets. Results revealed that deterioration occurred quickly in control broccoli, manifested mainly by mass loss, chlorophyll degradation and stem hardening. Also, it was found unacceptable by sensory panel after 5 days. Conversely, in those florets packaged under modified atmosphere packaging, especially for LDPE with ethylene adsorber (M2), all changes related with loss of quality were significantly reduced and delayed with time. Additionally, total soluble solids and total phenolic content remained almost unchanged during the whole period. Ethylene concentration was determined as 61.8 ppm in M1 and 0.33 ppm in M2, respectively, at the end of the storage. Thus, broccoli packaged with M2 films had prolonged storability up to 20 days with high quality attributes, this period being only 5 days in unpackaged control broccoli. Oxygen concentration decreased below 1% after 5 days of storage in M1, and the shelf life of broccoli in these bags was limited to 5 days because of risk for anaerobic fermentation. This paper presents the architectural details of an evolving open source/open architecture software framework for developing organ-level surgical simulations. Our goal is to facilitate shared development of reusable models, to accommodate heterogeneous models of computation, and to provide a framework for interfacing multiple heterogeneous models. The framework provides an application programming interface for interfacing dynamic models defined over spatial domains. It is specifically designed to be independent of the specifics of the modeling methods used, and therefore facilitates seamless integration of heterogeneous models and processes. Furthermore, each model has separate geometries for visualization, simulation, and interfacing, allowing the model developer to choose the most natural geometric representation for each case. Input/output interfaces for visualization and haptics for real-time interactive applications have also been provided.  相似文献
