This paper presents symbiotic organisms search (SOS) algorithm to solve economic emission load dispatch (EELD) problem for thermal generators in power systems. The basic objective of the EELD is to minimize both minimum operating costs and emission levels, while satisfying the load demand and all equality–inequality constraints. In other research direction, this multi-objective problem is converted into single-objective function by using price penalty factor approach in order to solve it with SOS. The proposed algorithm has been implemented on various test cases, with different constraints and various cost curve nature. In order to see the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, its results are compared to those reported in the recent literature. The results of the algorithms indicate that SOS gives good results in both systems and very competitive with the state of the art for the solution of the EELD problems.

In this paper, we conduct energy and exergy analyses of the magnesium-chlorine (Mg-Cl) thermochemical cycle for hydrogen production and examine the respective cycle energy and exergy efficiencies. We also undertake a parametric study to investigate how the overall cycle performance is affected by changing the reference environment temperature and operating conditions. The results show that Mg-Cl cycle offers a good potential due to its high energy and exergy efficiencies as 63.63% and 34.86%, respectively, based upon the conditions and parameters considered. In this regard, Mg-Cl cycle appears to be a promising low temperature thermochemical cycle. It may, therefore, compete with other low temperature thermochemical and hybrid cycles such as the copper–chlorine cycle.  相似文献

Liquid hydrogen (LH2) storage has the advantage of high volumetric energy density, while boil-off losses constitute a major disadvantage. To minimize the losses, complicated insulation techniques are necessary. In general, Multi Layer Insulation (MLI) and a Vapor-Cooled Shield (VCS) are used together in LH2 tanks. In the design of an LH2 tank with VCS, the main goal is to find the optimum location for the VCS in order to minimize heat leakage. In this study, a 2D thermal model is developed by considering the temperature dependencies of the thermal conductivity and heat capacity of hydrogen gas. The developed model is used to analyze the effects of model considerations on heat leakage predictions. Furthermore, heat leakage in insulation of LH2 tanks with single and double VCS is analyzed for an automobile application, and the optimum locations of the VCS for minimization of heat leakage are determined for both cases.  相似文献

Afyon geothermal district heating system (AFJET) provides heating to 4519 residences, covering an area of 513,683 m2. Due to limitations in reinjection capacity, geothermal waters are released to the Akarcay Stream, detrimentally affecting the environment. Optimum heating load of the system was determined for a given ambient conditions with respect to different outdoor temperatures. Usage of AFJET was found to be higher than the optimum consumption rates. Optimizing the usage of geothermal water will decrease operational cost, increase equipment life-span, and reduce environmental pollution.  相似文献

Probabilistic Models for Cyclic Straining of Saturated Clean Sands   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A maximum likelihood framework for the probabilistic assessment of postcyclic straining of saturated clean sands is described. Databases consisting of cyclic laboratory test results including maximum shear and postcyclic volumetric strains in conjunction with relative density, number of stress (strain) cycles, and “index” test results were used for the development of probabilistically based postcyclic strain correlations. For this purpose, in addition to the compilation of existing data from literature, a series of stress-controlled cyclic triaxial and simple shear tests were performed on laboratory-constituted saturated clean sand specimens. The variabilities in testing conditions (i.e., type of test, consolidation procedure, confining pressure, rate of loading, etc.) were corrected through a series of correction schemes, the effectiveness of which were later confirmed by the discriminant analyses results. Volumetric and shear strain boundary curves were developed in the cyclic stress ratio versus N1,60,CS or qc,1 domain. In addition to being based on significantly extended and higher quality databases, contrary to the existing judgmentally derived deterministic ones, proposed correlations have formal probabilistic bases, and so provide insight regarding uncertainty of strain predictions or probability of exceeding a target strain value. Probabilistic uses of the proposed correlations were illustrated by three sets of examples. A companion paper applied and calibrated the proposed volumetric strain correlation to semiempirically evaluate postearthquake settlement of level, free-field sites. For the calibration, case history soil profiles, composed of a broad range of sand types and depositional characteristics, shaken by a number of earthquakes, were used. Superior predictions of field settlements by this laboratory data-based cyclic strain assessment approach were concluded to be strongly mutually supportive.  相似文献

Nanoengineered fluorescent response is reported from semiconductor core-shell (CdSe/ZnS) quantum dots in proximity to the surface plasmon polariton field of periodic Ag nanoparticle arrays. Tuning the surface plasmon polariton resonance to the quantum dot exciton emission band results in an enhancement of up to approximately 50-fold in the overall fluorescence efficiency, in a design where each Ag nanoparticle is interconnected by a continuous Ag thin film. Propagating modes of surface plasmon resonances have a direct impact on the fluorescence enhancement.  相似文献

Complex virtual human representation provides more natural interaction and communication among participants in networked virtual environments, hence it is expected to increase the sense of being together within the same virtual world. We present a flexible framework for the integration of virtual humans in networked collaborative virtual environments. A modular architecture allows flexible representation and control of the virtual humans, whether they are controlled by a physical user using all sorts of tracking and other devices, or by an intelligent control program turning them into autonomous actors. The modularity of the system allows for fairly easy extensions and integration with new techniques making it interesting also as a testbed for various domains from “classic” VR to psychological experiments. We present results in terms of functionalities, example applications and measurements of performance and network traffic with an increasing number of participants in the simulation.  相似文献

Sea-surface targets are automatically detected and tracked using the bag-of-features (BOF) technique with the scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) in infrared (IR) and visual (VIS) band videos. Features corresponding to the sea-surface targets and background are first clustered using a training set offline, and these features are then used for online target detection using the BOF technique. The features corresponding to the targets are matched to those in the subsequent frame for target tracking purposes with a set of heuristic rules. Tracking performance is compared with an optical-flow-based method with respect to the ground truth target positions for different real IR and VIS band videos and synthetic IR videos. Scenarios are composed of videos recorded/generated at different times of day, containing single and multiple targets located at different ranges and orientations. The experimental results show that sea-surface targets can be detected and tracked with plausible accuracies by using the BOF technique with the SIFT in both IR and VIS band videos.  相似文献

Magnetization-prepared acquisitions offer a trade-off between image contrast and scan efficiency for magnetic resonance imaging. Because the prepared signals gradually decay, the contrast can be improved by frequently repeating the preparation, which in turn significantly increases the scan time. A common solution is to perform the data collection progressing from low- to high-spatial-frequency samples following each preparation. Unfortunately, this leads to loss of spatial resolution, and thereby image blurring. In this work, a new technique is proposed that first corrects the signal decay in high-frequency data to mitigate the resolution loss and improve the image contrast without reducing the scan efficiency. The proposed technique then employs a sparsity-based nonlinear reconstruction to further improve the image quality. In addition to reducing the amplified high-frequency noise, this reconstruction extrapolates missing k-space samples in the case of undersampled compressed-sensing acquisitions. The technique is successfully demonstrated for noncontrast-enhanced flow-independent angiography of the lower extremities, an application that substantially benefits from both the signal compensation and the nonlinear reconstruction.  相似文献
