The purpose of this study was to investigate the implications of selected chemopreventive parameters and metabolic conversion of resveratrol in vivo. In two 8-week long feeding experiments with rats, a low-resveratrol diet containing 50 mg resveratrol per kg body weight (bw) and day and a high-resveratrol diet with 300 mg per kg bw and day were administered. For chemopreventive evaluation selected phase I and phase II enzymes of the biotransformation system, the total antioxidant activity, and the vitamin E status of the animals were determined. The level of resveratrol and its metabolites in the feces, urine, plasma, liver, and kidneys was identified and quantitated by high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) using synthesized resveratrol conjugate standards. Feeding of different dosages of resveratrol revealed no effect on the different chemopreventive parameters, except for the total antioxidant activity, which was elevated in plasma by 19% after feeding 50 mg resveratrol per kg bw and day. The formation of trans-resveratrol-3-sulfate, trans-resveratrol-4'-sulfate, trans-resveratrol-3,5-disulfate, trans-resveratrol-3,4'-disulfate, trans-resveratrol-3,4',5-trisulfate, trans-resveratrol-3-O-beta-D-glucuronide, and resveratrol aglycone was detected by HPLC analysis, depending on the biological material. Total resveratrol recovery in urine and feces of rats fed on 50 mg resveratrol per kg bw and day was 15% and 13%, respectively. For rats fed the higher dosage of 300 mg resveratrol per kg bw and day recovery was 54% and 17%, respectively. This is the first study performed with synthesized standards of relevant resveratrol conjugates. The lack of effect on the chemopreventive parameters is probably due to the formation of various resveratrol conjugates reducing its bioavailability in the rat.  相似文献

Production of extrudates from cereals is an often-used technological process in today’s world food industry. Extrudates from corn flour produced using the twin-screw extrusion process and enriched with whey protein concentrate represent high-quality source of proteins and fats. Whey protein concentrate (WPC) as a valuable source of proteins and minerals is one of the highest-quality components for possible extrudate enrichment. In this paper, the influence of various WPC addition and some extrusion process parameters such as feed moisture content ( QtextHtext2 textO Q_{{{text{H}}_{text{2}} {text{O}}}} ) on physicochemical properties of directly expanded corn flour extrudates manufactured in twin-screw co-rotating extruder was investigated. Whey protein concentrate was added in the following ratios 7.5%, 15% and 22.5% and water in 10.08, 12.18 and 14.28 L/h. Final composition of products is determined with measuring of protein, fat and water shares, water absorption index (WAI) and water solubility index (WSI). With added WPC and with increase of water volume flow, there was a significant rise in total protein, fat and water content in final products, as well as lowering of WSI and rising of WAI indexes. The statistical analysis of the obtained data shows that the lowest WSI and the highest WAI had samples with the largest share of WPC (22.5%) and water volume flow of 14.28 L/h. Colour is measured for each sample, and results were represented with hue angle (H), chroma (C) and lightness (L) values. Process parameters, WPC and QtextHtext2 textO Q_{{{text{H}}_{text{2}} {text{O}}}} influence the increase of saturation of C and lightness of L colour value, while H value stays unchanged. Mean value of H was 90.14 ± 1.06, which corresponds to dominance of yellow colour of samples.  相似文献

Whereas in the brain, the activity of the neurons is supported by several types of glial cells such as astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, and ependymal cells, the retina (evolving from the brain during ontogenesis) contains only one type of macroglial cell, the Müller (radial glial) cells, in most vertebrates including the anurans. These cells span the entire thickness of the tissue, and thereby contact and ensheath virtually every type of neuronal cell body and process. This intimate topographical relationship is reflected by a multitude of functional interactions between retinal neurons and Müller glial cells. Müller cells are the principal stores of retinal glycogen, and are thought to fuel retinal neurons with substrate (lactate/pyruvate) for their oxidative metabolism. Furthermore, Müller cells are involved in the control and homeostasis of many constituents of the extracellular space, such as potassium and perhaps other ions, signaling molecules, and of the extracellular pH. They also seem to play important roles in recycling mechanisms of photopigment molecules and neurotransmitter molecules such as glutamate and GABA. By containing the main retinal stores of glutathione, Müller cells may protect retinal neurons against free radicals. Moreover, Müller cells express receptors for many neuroactive substances, and may also release such substances to their neighbouring neurons. Thus, Müller cells exert many functions crucial for signal processing in the normal retina. Moreover, Müller cells change their properties in cases of retinal disease and injury, and may either support the survival of neuronal cells or accelerate the progress of neuronal degeneration.  相似文献

Robotic technologies, whether they are remotely operated vehicles, autonomous agents, assistive devices, or novel control interfaces, offer many promising capabilities for deployment in real‐world environments. Postdisaster scenarios are a particularly relevant target for applying such technologies, due to the challenging conditions faced by rescue workers and the possibility to increase their efficacy while decreasing the risks they face. However, field‐deployable technologies for rescue work have requirements for robustness, speed, versatility, and ease of use that may not be matched by the state of the art in robotics research. This paper aims to survey the current state of the art in ground and aerial robots, marine and amphibious systems, and human–robot control interfaces and assess the readiness of these technologies with respect to the needs of first responders and disaster recovery efforts. We have gathered expert opinions from emergency response stakeholders and researchers who conduct field deployments with them to understand these needs, and we present this assessment as a way to guide future research toward technologies that will make an impact in real‐world disaster response and recovery.  相似文献

A polymerizable-complex method (PCM) was used with automated solution deposition to generate combinatorial libraries of oxide powders that were evaluated for their ability to catalyze the combustion of soot. Chemical compositions were examined for catalytic activity in the soot combustion reaction in parallel using infrared thermography and serially using automated thermogravimetric analysis. Although infrared analysis is much faster, it is not easily suited to analyzing soot combustion in the configuration employed in the present study. Instead, the slower automated thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) was found to be much more reliable and reproducible. The results of characterizing simple oxide systems (Ce–K–O, Cu–K–O, Ce–Na–O and Cu–Na–O) are reported.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to assess whether Her-2/neu expressing tumour cells can be detected in vitro as well as in animal tumour models with magnetic resonance imaging at 1.5?T. Magnetic nanoparticles (with relaxivities R 1, R 2 of 3.7 ± 0.4?(mM?s)(-1), 277 ± 32?(mM?s)(-1) at 21?°C, respectively) coupled to anti-Her-2/neu antibodies or gamma globulin IgG (high or non-affinity probe, respectively) were used. After incubation of Her-2/neu expressing cells (SKBR3) with high or non-affinity probes (20?min), values of R 1 = 0.34 ± 0.02?(mM?s)(-1) and R 2 = 63.02 ± 30?(mM?s)(-1) were obtained. Electron microscopy and atomic absorption spectrometry examinations verified the presence of relatively high iron levels in cells incubated with the high affinity probe compared to controls. For in vivo MRI, high or non-affinity probes (≈1.7?mg Fe/animal) were injected into the tail vein of mice (n = 16) bearing SKBR3 tumours. A distinct decrease in the normalized MR signal ratio between tumour and reference area (approximately -17 ± 2%) after application of the high affinity probe was observed. In conclusion, in vivo detection of Her-2/neu expressing tumours is feasible in a clinical MR scanner by using immunoconjugated magnetic nanoparticles.  相似文献

Terahertz (THz) radiation probes intermolecular interactions through crystal lattice vibrations, allowing the characterization of solid materials. Thus, THz spectroscopy is a promising alternative to mainstream solid-state analytical tools such as X-ray diffraction or thermal analysis. The method provides the benefits of online measurement, remote sampling and three-dimensional imaging, all of which are attractive for quality control and security applications. In the context of pharmaceutical solids, THz spectroscopy can differentiate and quantify different forms of active pharmaceutical ingredients. Here, we apply this technique to monitor a dynamic process involving two molecular crystals. In particular, we follow the mechanochemical construction of a two-component cocrystal by grinding together phenazine (phen) and mesaconic acid (mes). To rationalize the observed changes in the spectra, we conduct lattice dynamics calculations that lead to the tentative assignment of at least one feature in the cocrystal THz spectrum.  相似文献

The human vision system can discriminate regions which differ up to the second-order statistics only. We present an algorithm designed to reveal "hidden" boundaries in gray level images, by computing gradients in higher order statistics of the data. We demonstrate it by applying it to the identification of possible "hidden" boundaries of glioblastomas as manifest themselves in three-dimensional (3-D) MRI scans, using a model driven approach. We also demonstrate the method using a nonmodel driven approach where we have no prior information about the location of possible boundaries. In this case, we use 3-D MRI data concerning schizophrenic patients and normal controls.  相似文献

The goal of the Spincopter project was to design an energy efficient aircraft capable of autorotation glide that could be used for both indoor and outdoor surveillance. This paper demonstrates how to utilize the self-rotating capability of the Spincopter in order to acquire a 3D image of its environment and localize predefined object(s). The omnidirectional capabilities of such an UAV extends the otherwise very limited field of view of conventional cameras usually used for aerial photography and surveillance. The paper presents the theoretical background and the actual implementation of such a system. It presents the resulting images and offers a brief survey of the image quality.  相似文献
