Blind adaptive interference suppression for direct-sequence CDMA   总被引:16,自引:0,他引:16  
Direct sequence (DS) code division multiple access (CDMA) is a promising technology for wireless environments with multiple simultaneous transmissions because of several features: asynchronous multiple access, robustness to frequency selective fading, and multipath combining. The capacity of DS-CDMA systems is interference-limited and can therefore be increased by techniques that suppress interference. In this paper, we present developments in interference suppression using blind adaptive receivers that do not receive knowledge of the signal waveforms and propagation channels of the interference, and that require a minimal amount of information about the desired signal. The framework considered generalizes naturally to include additional capabilities such as receive antenna diversity. The most powerful application of the methods described here is for linearly modulated CDMA systems with short spreading waveforms (i.e., spreading waveforms with period equal to the symbol interval), for which they provide substantial performance gains over conventional reception. Implications for future system design due to the restriction of short spreading waveforms and directions for further investigation are discussed  相似文献

We describe here the results of a screening program conducted to discover inhibitors of the type-I interleukin-1 receptor (IL-1RI) from samples of microbial origin. An innovative approach, based on automated, nonradioactive receptor binding assays has been employed. Specially prepared cell-free systems have allowed the use of high concentrations of microbial metabolites in the reaction mixtures with a low percentage of false positives. More than 30,000 microbial samples from different species of soil isolates have been tested and two interesting activities have been purified and characterized. One of these, isolated from Streptomyces sp. GE48009, was identified as niphimycin, an antifungal agent also known as scopafungin. Preliminary evidence suggests that this molecule and azalomycin F, a structural analogue, inhibit IL-IRI by virtue of their long-chain guanidinium moiety. The other activity, isolated from Aspergillus sp. GE49752, was identified as flavipin, a substituted o-phthalaldehyde.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to assess the prognostic relevance of relatives' interactive behaviour towards the patient, as covered by the Münster Family Interview (MFI), to the further course of the schizophrenic illness. The MFI is a family interview (of the whole family, including the patient) designed to record the emotional family atmosphere based on the concept of expressed emotion (EE). The ratings take place directly after the interview on five scales (criticism, hostility, overinvolvement, resignation and warmth), the resignation scale being added to the 'classic' EE scales. Ninety-nine families of outpatients diagnosed with schizophrenia according to the DSM-III were examined with the MFI during a home visit. The patients were seen 1 and 2 years after the first examination. The target criteria selected for the prognostic significance of the interaction measurements were: rehospitalisation within 2 years; extent of symptoms after 1 year, and psychosocial skills after 1 year. The significance of the interaction dimensions was verified in regression models. The control variable used in the regression models was the Strauss-Carpenter scale. Regression models were produced for the total group and for a subgroup of moderately ill patients. All target criteria yielded serviceable prediction models. The most important variable for prediction was the control variable, the Strauss-Carpenter scale. However the interaction variables made additional contributions to the prognosis, especially in the subgroup of moderately ill patients. The best MFI scale for all the outcome criteria was resignation; criticism predicted only the symptomatology, and emotional overinvolvement the level of social functioning after 1 year. In conclusion, practical work with families of schizophrenic patients should emphasise the protective function of relatives towards patients more strongly.  相似文献

Annuloaortic ectasia due to Shprintzen-Goldberg syndrome (SGS) is reported. A 10-year-old boy was admitted to our hospital for evaluation of chest pain. On admission, he was diagnosed as SGS on the basis of his various anomalies. Two-dimensional echocardiography showed a bicuspid aortic valve and marked annular dilatation, Doppler flow studies revealed severe aortic regurgitation, and retrograde aortography showed severe aortic regurgitation with annular dilatation. Successful aortic root replacement was performed; subsequent histologic examination of the ascending aorta demonstrated cystic medial necrosis. In conclusion, SGS is a generalized connective tissue dysplasia, with clinical manifestations of cardiovascular lesions similar to those in Marfan syndrome. Aortic root replacement was successfully performed; however, recurrence of aortic aneurysms outside of the ascending aorta should be carefully observed. Surgical treatment for cardiovascular disorders may be necessary to save the life of patients with SGS.  相似文献

Automated monitoring of the microbiological quality of heat-processed foods by the resazurin reduction test was applied to microtitration plate incubator-fluorimeter technology. The appearance and disappearance of the fluorescing peak of resorufin was monitored on microtitration trays. Pasteurized or ultra-high temperature-treated starch-based soup was used as the model food system. Bacillus subtilis spores (ultra-high temperature treatment) and vegetative cells of Enterococcus faecalis (pasteurization) were inoculated into the soup before the heat treatment at levels which resulted in some survival. The timing of appearance of maximum fluorescence correlated with the number of bacteria in pre-incubated samples. Automated resazurin-reduction fluorimetry was compared with conventional plating, turbidometry and microcolony count by the direct epifluorescent filter technique. The results of the resazurin test correlated well with those of all the other methods tested. Fluorimetry had the advantage that the results could be read within 1–5h and the reproducibility was superior to the other methods.  相似文献

Microstructure-composition relationships and Ms temperatures have been determined in high purity nitrided Fe-Cr-Mn alloys, as part of a program to develop improved corrosion-abrasion resistant steels with unstable austenitic microstructures. Compositions in the range 8 to 12 pct Cr, 0 to 10 pct Mn, and 0 to 0.6 pct N were investigated by a resistivity technique to determine Ms temperatures and by X-ray diffraction and metallography to determine constitution. Hardness measurements were also made. At the low alloy end of the range, microstructures after annealing and air cooling are fully martensitic while at the high alloy end they are fully austenitic. At intermediate compositions, mixed martensite-austenite microstructures (with epsilon present as a minor phase in some cases) and unstable austenitic microstructures are obtained. The austenitic alloys contain a high density of stacking faults and the unstable austenitic alloys transform to martensite on deformation. At low N contents (up to at least 0.25 pct N) the Ms-composition relationship is linear and described by: Ms = 555 - 9(Cr - 8) - 40Mn - 450N [1] where Ms is in °C and Cr, Mn, and N are the weight percentages of these elements. At higher N contents, the Ms generally falls more rapidly with increasing nitrogen content. Nitrogen solubility at 1050 °C exceeds about 0.3 pct in all alloys and increases with increasing Cr and Mn content. In commercial purity steels, unstable austenitic microstructures are expected to be obtained in compositions around 10 to 14 pct Cr, 8 to 12 pct Mn, and 0.1 to 0.3 pct N when the total level of these elements is selected to ensure the Ms is below room temperature.  相似文献

The galanin-receptor ligand M40 [galanin-(1-12)-Pro3-(Ala-Leu)2-Ala amide] binds with high affinity to [mono[125I]iodo-Tyr26]galanin-binding sites in hippocampal, hypothalamic, and spinal cord membranes and in membranes from Rin m5F rat insulinoma cells (IC50 = 3-15 nM). Receptor autoradiographic studies show that M40 (1 microM) displaces [mono[125I]iodo-Tyr26]galanin from binding sites in the hippocampus, hypothalamus, and spinal cord. In the brain, M40 acts as a potent galanin-receptor antagonist: M40, in doses comparable to that of galanin, antagonizes the stimulatory effects of galanin on feeding, and it blocks the galaninergic inhibition of the scopolamine-induced acetylcholine release in the ventral hippocampus in vivo. In contrast, M40 completely fails to antagonize both the galanin-mediated inhibition of the glucose-induced insulin release in isolated mouse pancreatic islets and the inhibitory effects of galanin on the forskolin-stimulated accumulation of 3',5'-cAMP in Rin m5F cells; instead M40 is a weak agonist at the galanin receptors in these two systems. M40 acts as a weak antagonist of galanin in the spinal flexor reflex model. These results suggest that at least two subtypes of the galanin receptor may exist. Hypothalamic and hippocampal galanin receptors represent a putative central galanin-receptor subtype (GL-1-receptor) that is blocked by M40. The pancreatic galanin receptor may represent another subtype (GL-2-receptor) that recognizes M40, but as a weak agonist. The galanin receptors in the spinal cord occupy an intermediate position between these two putative subtypes.  相似文献

Pulmonary asbestos burdens are usually determined by quantitative pulmonary dust analysis. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) for this purpose. First, the upper limit of normal for asbestos bodies (AB) in BAL fluid was established using a reference group of 371 patients with no evidence of increased exposure to asbestos. 99% of these patients had less than 0.5 AB/ml. In order to see whether BAL fluid AB concentration reflected pulmonary tissue content, BAL fluid and lung tissue from a further 64 patients with diverse histories of asbestos exposure were investigated. There was a positive association between AB concentration in BAL fluid and lung tissue only for the overall group of 64 patients (r = 0.86; P < 0.001). Twelve of 13 patients with more than 1 AB/ml and ten patients with more than 5 AB/ml had more than 1000 AB/cm3 lung tissue, a value that is usually exceeded in asbestosis. When the upper concentration limit was set at 0.5 AB/ml for BAL fluid and 50 AB/cm3 for lung tissue, only two out of 64 patients had a false positive value (specificity 95%), but eleven patients had false negative results (sensitivity 58%). These investigations establish that concentrations of > or = 0.5 AB/ml are a reliable indicator of increased asbestos exposure and concentrations > 1 AB/ml are associated with a higher probability of having more than 1000 AB/cm3 lung tissue. However, exclusion of increased asbestos exposure is not possible on the basis of negative BAL findings, since the sensitivity of the method is too low.  相似文献
