Scale formation on different types of steel under the conditions of high pressure water/steam circulation in power stations The protective layer formed on steel in hot water and steam has predominantly spinel structure and consists of two strata. One of them is below the original steel surface and is formed by topotactic growth, while the other is above the original metal surface and is formed by epitactic growth. Their composition depends from the diffusivity of the heavy metal ions present. The mobility of the individual ions is different and is considerably higher in ferritic than in austenitic steels. The epitactic layer is more porous and less resistant than the topotactic layer. The topography of the spinel surface plays an important role with respect to flow resistance; crater type pits may be formed in the surface according to a mechanism yet unknown.  相似文献

Simultaneous observation of the same solar sources with different instruments is one way to test prelaunch radiometric calibrations and to detect changes in responsivity with time of extreme-ultraviolet instruments in space. Here we present the results of intercalibration of the SUMER (Solar Ultraviolet Measurements of Emitted Radiation) spectrometer (detectors A and B) and the GIS (Grazing Incidence Spectrometer), one of two spectrometers that compose the CDS (Coronal Diagnostic Spectrometer) on the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). The two instruments observed simultaneously radiances of emission lines at or near the center of the solar disk. The emission line chosen for intercomparison was Ne VIII at 770 A. However, such an intercomparison of the SUMER and CDS-GIS measurements means comparing two data sets with large differences in resolution and field of view. The latter difference, especially, introduces differences in the measured intensities caused by the solar variability that is relatively strong in the 770-A line. Using a statistical approach to overcome this problem, we found that the ratio of the GIS to the SUMER average radiances amounted to 2.6 +/- 0.9 before the SOHO's loss of attitude and to 2.1 +/- 0.7 afterward. These findings confirm earlier estimates of the GIS's responsivity being too low, and an update of the GIS calibration is recommended. Despite the large differences in resolution and field of view of the two instruments, the shapes of their normalized and rescaled histograms of the radiances agree well and therefore represent characteristic features of the Ne VIII line.  相似文献

A numerical solution concept is presented for simulating the transport and deposition to surfaces of discrete, small (nano-)particles. The motion of single particles is calculated from the Langevin equation by Lagrangian integration under consideration of different forces such as drag force, van der Waals forces, electrical Coulomb forces and not negligible for small particles, under stochastic diffusion (Brownian diffusion). This so-called particle Monte Carlo method enables the computation of macroscopic filter properties as well the detailed resolution of the structure of the deposited particles. The flow force and the external forces depend on solutions of continuum equations, as the Navier-Stokes equations for viscous, incompressible flows or a Laplace equation of the electrical potential. Solutions of the flow and potential fields are computed here using lattice-Boltzmann methods. Essential advantage of these methods are the easy and efficient treatment of three-dimensional complex geometries, given by filter geometries or particle covered surfaces. A number of numerical improvements, as grid refinement or boundary fitting, were developed for lattice-Boltzmann methods in previous studies and applied to the present problem. The interaction between the deposited particle layer and the fluid field or the external forces is included by recomputing of these fields with changed boundaries. A number of simulation results show the influence of different effects on the particle motion and deposition.  相似文献

College students with no prior experience of hypnosis were assessed for fantasy proneness and dissociation. In a totally separate context, they were subsequently tested for their interpretations of hypnotic suggestions, hypnotic response expectancies, and hypnotizability. Contrary to N. P. Spanos and D. R. Gorassini's (1984) hypothesis, strategic enactment of suggested responses was rarely reported, and its endorsement was not correlated with hypnotic responsiveness. Suggestibility was significantly predicted by fantasy proneness and response expectancy, but not by dissociation. Electrochemical dressing of fine-grained metal-bonded diamond grinding wheels enables to grind hard and brittle materials in the ductile mode. Optical surfaces can be manufactured by grinding, which reduces the need for subsequent, time-consuming polishing work. When using metal-bonded grinding wheels, the emerging oxides regulate the electrochemical dissolution. Bronze-bonded grinding wheels are more suitable for grinding cemented carbides and ceramics than iron-bonded grinding wheels, as it is easier to modify their chemical composition to suit a specific grinding task. They can also be sintered at lower temperatures, which reduces the risk of thermal damage to the diamond. In this paper, the dissolution and the oxidation of different bronze alloys are characterized for the electrochemical dressing process. The relevant evaluation criteria are the oxide layer thickness, the electrical behavior and the different emerging bronze alloy oxides. A high-throughput approach based on magnetron co-sputtering of alloy libraries is employed to inves-tigate mechanical properties of crystalline and amorphous alloys in a ternary palladium(Pd)-tungsten(W)-silicon(Si)system with the aim to reveal the difference in plastic deformation response and extract the relevant structure-property relationships of the alloys in the system.It was found that in contrast to crystalline alloys,the amorphous ones,i.e.,metallic glasses,exhibited a much smaller fluctuation range in the plasticity parameters(Er2/H and Wp/Wt),indicating a significant difference in the plastic deformation mechanism controlling the mechanical properties for the respective alloys.We propose that the inho-mogeneous deformation of amorphous alloys localized in thin shear bands is responsible for the weaker compositional dependence of both plasticity parameters,while dislocation gliding in crystalline materials is significantly more dependent on the exact structure,thus resulting in a larger scattering range.Based on the representative efficient cluster packing model,a set of composition-dependent atomic structural models is proposed to figure out the structure-property relationships of amorphous alloys in Pd-W-Si alloy system.  相似文献

We conducted a series of parallel DNA-hybridization experiments on a small group of bats (species of Pteropus, Rhinolophus, Noctilio and Pteronotus) and outgroups (Lemur, Cynocephalus, Didelphis), using whole-genome labels and tracers made from extracts enriched with AT and two levels of GC content. FITCH (additive phylogenetic trees) topologies were constructed from the four sets of comparisons, indexed as both delta Tmode and delta NPHs (normalized percentage of hybridization). Based on our previous work showing that the shared AT bias of pteropodids and some microchiropterans may affect the rank-ordering of taxa based on either AT- or GC-rich labels, our expectation was that the resulting trees would show differing topologies when generated from tracers made with the variously enriched DNA extracts. Whereas there was some variation among the trees, most of them grouped the bats together, and almost all paired the representative megachiropteran and rhinolophoid microchiropteran as sister-taxa in contrast to the other microchiropterans. As the pteropodid-rhinolophoid relationship is an unexpected and unlikely one, we attribute this association to an AT bias that was not obviated even by our most GC-rich labels, and suggest that such a bias may compromise the truth of some molecular trees. Accordingly, we believe the broader issue of bat monophyly remains unresolved by DNA-hybridization and probably also by gene-sequencing studies.  相似文献

The rapidly increasing population and associated quest for food and feed in China has led to increased soil cultivation and nitrogen (N) fertilizer use, and as a consequence to increased wind erosion and unbalanced crop nutrition. In the study presented here, we explored the long-term effects of various combinations of maize stover, cattle manure and nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) fertilizer applications on maize (Zea mays L.) yield and nutrient and water use efficiencies under reduced tillage practices. In a companion paper, we present the effects on nutrient balances and soil fertility characteristics. The ongoing factorial field trial was conducted at Shouyang Dryland Farming Experimental Station in northern China from 1993 onwards. The incomplete, determinant-optimal design comprised 12 treatments, including a control treatment, in duplicate. Grain yields and N, P, and potassium (K) uptakes and N, P and K use efficiencies were greatly influenced by the amount of rain during the growing season (GSR), and by soil water at sowing (SWS). There were highly significant interactions between GSR and added stover and manure, expressed in complex annual variations in grain yield and N, P and K use efficiencies. Annual mean grain yields ranged from 3,000 kg ha−1 to 10,000 kg ha−1 and treatment mean yields from 4,500 kg ha−1 to 7,000 kg ha−1. Balanced combination of stover (3,000–6,000 kg), manure (1,500–6,000 kg) and N fertilizer (105 kg) gave the highest yield. Stover and manure were important for supplying K, but the effects differed greatly between years. Overall mean N recovery efficiency (NRE) ranged from 28% to 54%, depending on N source. NRE in wet years ranged from 50% to 90%. In conclusion, balanced combinations of stover, manure and NP fertilizer gave the highest yield and NRE. Reduced tillage with adding stover and manure in autumn prior to ploughing is effective in minimizing labor requirement and wind erosion. The potentials of split applications of N fertilizer, targeted to the need of the growing crop (response farming), should be explored to further increase the N use efficiency.  相似文献

Epigenetics play a vital role in early embryo development. Offspring conceived via assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs) have a three times higher risk of epigenetic diseases than naturally conceived children. However, investigations into ART-associated placental histone modifications or sex-stratified analyses of ART-associated histone modifications remain limited. In the current study, we carried out immunohistochemistry, chip-sequence analysis, and a series of in vitro experiments. Our results demonstrated that placentas from intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), but not in vitro fertilization (IVF), showed global tri-methylated-histone-H3-lysine-4 (H3K4me3) alteration compared to those from natural conception. However, for acetylated-histone-H3-lysine-9 (H3K9ac) and acetylated-histone-H3-lysine-27 (H3K27ac), no significant differences between groups could be found. Further, sex -stratified analysis found that, compared with the same-gender newborn cord blood mononuclear cell (CBMC) from natural conceptions, CBMC from ICSI-boys presented more genes with differentially enriched H3K4me3 (n = 198) than those from ICSI-girls (n = 79), IVF-girls (n = 5), and IVF-boys (n = 2). We also found that varying oxygen conditions, RNA polymerase II subunit A (Polr2A), and lysine demethylase 5A (KDM5A) regulated H3K4me3. These findings revealed a difference between IVF and ICSI and a difference between boys and girls in H3K4me3 modification, providing greater insight into ART-associated epigenetic alteration.  相似文献

Epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a process involved in embryonic development, but it also plays a role in remote metastasis formation in tumor diseases. During this process cells lose their epithelial features and adopt characteristics of mesenchymal cells. Thereby single tumor cells, which dissolve from the primary tumor, are enabled to invade the blood vessels and travel throughout the body as so called “circulating tumor cells” (CTCs). After leaving the blood stream the reverse process of EMT, the mesenchymal to epithelial transition (MET) helps the cells to seed in different tissues, thereby generating the bud of metastasis formation. As metastasis is the main reason for tumor-associated death, CTCs and the EMT process are in the focus of research in recent years. This review summarizes what was already found out about the molecular mechanisms driving EMT, the consequences of EMT for tumor cell detection, and suitable markers for the detection of CTCs which underwent EMT. The research work done in this field could open new roads towards combating cancer.  相似文献
