Recognizing a subject given a set of biometrics is a fundamental pattern recognition problem. This paper builds novel statistical models for multibiometric systems using geometric and multinomial distributions. These models are generic as they are only based on the similarity scores produced by a recognition system. They predict the bounds on the range of indices within which a test subject is likely to be present in a sorted set of similarity scores. These bounds are then used in the multibiometric recognition system to predict a smaller subset of subjects from the database as probable candidates for a given test subject. Experimental results show that the proposed models enhance the recognition rate beyond the underlying matching algorithms for multiple face views, fingerprints, palm prints, irises and their combinations.  相似文献

The problem of simultaneous absorption of two gases accompanied by reversible instantaneous chemical reactions is considered. Analytical equations are derived for the rates of absortion of the two gases. The solution is valid when the diffusivities of all species are assumed to be the same. Identification of feasible region of operations in multivariate processes is a problem of interest in several fields. This is particularly challenging when the process model is black-box in nature and/or is computationally expensive, as analytical solutions are not available and the number of possible model evaluations is limited. An efficient methodology is required to identify samples where the model is evaluated for developing a computationally efficient surrogate model. In this work, an artificial neural network based surrogate model is proposed which is integrated with a statistical-based approach (Jack-knifing) to estimate the variance of the surrogate model prediction. This allows implementation of an adaptive sampling approach where new samples are identified close to the feasible region boundary or in regions of high prediction uncertainty. The proposed approach performs better than a previously published kriging based method for different dimensionality case studies.  相似文献

Frequency-resolved communication maps provide a coarse-grained, global mapping of energy transport channels in a protein as a function of frequency of modes that carry energy. We illustrate the approach with a study of the homodimeric hemoglobin of Scapharca inaequivalvis, which exhibits cooperativity during ligand binding. We compare energy transport between the two hemes of the unliganded and oxygenated protein, which is mediated by water as well as residues forming a hydrogen-bonding network at the interface between the globules, and lies along the pathway for allosteric transitions observed in time-resolved X-ray studies. Non-equilibrium molecular simulations on energy transport from the heme corroborate the energy transport pathways identified by the communication maps.  相似文献

Abstract

To demonstrate the Pancharatnam phase as a geometric (Berry's) phase, each polarization state must be obtained by projecting the previous state on it. We describe a simple interferometric arrangement for such a demonstration which only uses a single rotation linear analyser to introduce a continuously variable phase difference between the two beams.  相似文献
