The goal of this experiment was to investigate the effect of yeast culture (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on rumen fermentation, nutrient utilization, and ammonia and methane emission from manure in dairy cows. Eight ruminally cannulated Holstein cows were allocated to 2 dietary treatments in a crossover design. Treatments were control (no yeast culture) and XP (yeast culture, fed at 56 g/head per day; XP, Diamond V Mills Inc., Cedar Rapids, IA). Dry matter intake, milk yield, milk composition, and body weight were similar between treatments. Milk urea nitrogen concentration was also not affected by treatment. Rumen pH was similar between the control and XP treatments, but rumen ammonia concentration tended to be lower with XP than with the control. Treatment had no effect on concentrations of total or individual volatile fatty acids, protozoal counts, polysaccharide-degrading activities (except amylase activity that tended to be increased by XP), or methane production in the rumen. Urinary N losses did not differ significantly between treatments, but allantoin and total purine derivative excretions and the estimated microbial N outflow from the rumen tended to be increased by XP compared with the control treatment. Total-tract apparent digestibility of dietary nutrients was not affected by XP. Milk fatty acid composition was also not altered by XP supplementation. Cumulative (253 h) ammonia and methane emissions from manure, measured in a steady-state gas emission system, were slightly decreased by XP. Overall, the yeast culture tested had little effect on ruminal fermentation, digestibility, or N losses, but tended to reduce rumen ammonia concentration and increase microbial protein synthesis in the rumen, and decreased ammonia and methane emissions from manure.  相似文献

A solution to the problem of plane electromagnetic waves focused by an ellipsoidal or a hyperboloidal lens is derived from the Stratton-Chu integral by solving a boundary-value problem. The current method is more rigorous than those hitherto published in the literature. Results show that for linearly polarized incident illumination and in the vicinity of the focus, the distribution of the time-averaged electric energy density is almost fully transverse electric.  相似文献

We present results of numerical computations obtained from a theory described in Part 1 of our current investigations [J. Opt. Soc. Am. A 17, 2081 (2000)]. We show that a segment of a paraboloid mirror produces an intensity distribution identical to that of a high-aperture lens. It is shown that when the convergence angle of the paraboloid is increased beyond the pi/2 limit, the lateral resolution in the direction orthogonal to the incident polarization improves, whereas in the other direction the resolution worsens. Numerical results show that paraboloid mirrors of high convergence angle exhibit dispersion; that is, when the focal length is altered by a quarter of the wavelength the intensity in the focus changes from its maximum to its minimum value. A focal shift is observed that, in the case of a paraboloid of low convergence angle is identical to the Fresnel shift. However, a focal shift is also observed at large convergence angles.  相似文献

Quite exhaustive theoretical studies exist in DAI, but it seems that there is not enough feedback from practice. In this paper we present practical investigations for applying and justifying the theoretical DAI results in a real industrial controls environment, and, conversely, we discuss the theoretical aspects of practical findings in these applied investigations made for accelerator control and operation. The results presented here are partly based on the research carried out at CERN during the ESPRIT-II Project ARCHON™. A generalized hypothesis is introduced, based on a unified view of control, monitoring, diagnosis, maintenance and repair tasks leading to a general method of cooperation for expert systems by exchanging hypotheses and leads to a mapping of different tasks in accelerator control to cooperating agents. This has been tested for task and result-sharing cooperation scenarios and we also report on studies carried out in relation to accelerator timings and their diagnosis as well as the transformation of these systems into a multi-agent community. Generalized hypotheses also allow us to treat the repetitive diagnosis-recovery cycle as a task-sharing cooperation. Problems with such a loop or even recursive calls between the different agents are discussed.  相似文献

The effects of glutathione, glutathione sulfonate and S-alkyl derivatives of glutathione on the binding of glutamate and selective ligands of ionotropic N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) and non-NMDA receptors were studied with mouse synaptic membranes. The effects of glutathione and its analogues on 45Ca2+ influx were also estimated in cultured rat cerebellar granule cells. Reduced and oxidized glutathione, glutathione sulfonate, S-methyl-, -ethyl-, -propyl-, -butyl- and -pentylglutathione inhibited the Na+-independent binding of L-[3H]glutamate. They strongly inhibited also the binding of (S)-2-amino-3-hydroxy-5-[3H]methyl-4-isoxazolepropionate [3H]AMPA (IC50 values: 0.8-15.9 microM). S-Alkylation of glutathione rendered the derivatives unable to inhibit [3H]kainate binding. The NMDA-sensitive binding of L-[3H]glutamate and the binding of 3-[(R)-2-carboxypiperazin-4-yl][1,2-(3)H]propyl-1-phosphonate ([3H]CPP, a competitive antagonist at NMDA sites) were inhibited by the peptides at micromolar concentrations. The strychnine-insensitive binding of the NMDA coagonist [3H]glycine was attenuated only by oxidized glutathione and glutathione sulfonate. All peptides slightly enhanced the use-dependent binding of [3H]dizocilpine (MK-801) to the NMDA-gated ionophores. This effect was additive with the effect of glycine but not with that of saturating concentrations of glutamate or glutamate plus glycine. The glutamate- and NMDA-evoked influx of 45Ca2+ into cerebellar granule cells was inhibited by the S-alkyl derivatives of glutathione. We conclude that besides glutathione the endogenous S-methylglutathione and glutathione sulfonate and the synthetic S-alkyl derivatives of glutathione act as ligands of the AMPA and NMDA receptors. In the NMDA receptor-ionophore these glutathione analogues bind preferably to the glutamate recognition site via their gamma-glutamyl moieties.  相似文献

Multiparous Holstein cows in late gestation were used in a completely randomized design to test the effects of prepartum protein supply on prepartum N balance, blood metabolite and hormone concentrations, and postpartum intake and milk production. Cows were assigned to one of three isocaloric diets that differed in amount of total dietary crude protein (CP) (10.6, 12.7, or 14.5% of dry matter) but not in CP degradability or solubility. All diets contained the following ingredients: corn silage, chopped grass hay, ground corn, soybean meal, expeller soybean meal, minerals, and vitamins. Following parturition, all cows were offered a similar diet. Nitrogen balance was measured on d 12 to 7 prior to the expected calving date. Cows were bled on d 5 prior to the expected calving date from just prior to feeding to 8 h postfeeding. As dietary CP increased, plasma glucose concentrations increased linearly, but no change was detected in plasma nonesterified fatty acids or serum insulin concentrations. Nitrogen intake, apparent and true digestibilities, fecal and urinary concentration of and N balance increased as the concentration of dietary protein increased. The efficiency of absorbed protein utilization decreased as protein intake increased. No change in postpartum intake or milk production was observed. An increase in N retention in late gestation cows that were in positive N balance did not increase postpartum milk production.  相似文献

A continuous culture system was used to investigate ruminal digestion in response to increased pasture intake and three different substitution rates (SR) in a 4 x 4 Latin square design. The treatments were 1) low pasture (55 g dry matter (DM)/d, 2) medium pasture (MP, 65 g DM/d), 3) high pasture (75 g DM/d), and 4) pasture (45 g DM/d) plus concentrate (PC, 30 g DM/d). Treatments were designed to produce a low (0.33), medium (0.67), and high (1.00) SR (g of pasture/g of concentrate) by contrasting the low, medium, and high pasture intake treatments with the pasture plus concentrate treatment, respectively. Pasture was fed at 0630, 1000, 1730, and 2100 h, and concentrate at 0600 and 1700 h. Digestibility of DM and neutral detergent fiber were not affected by the amount of pasture. As the amount of pasture increased, pH decreased linearly, and total volatile fatty acid and NH3-N concentrations, and nonammonia N and bacterial N flows increased linearly. Concentrate supplementation did not affect DM digestibility at high SR but increased DM digestibility at low SR. Concentrate supplementation reduced pH and NH3-N concentrations at the three SR. Concentrate supplementation reduced the ratio of rumen degradable N to rumen degradable organic matter; however, the mechanism depended on the SR. High SR, concentrate supplementation reduced rumen degradable N, which reduced NIH-N concentration without affecting bacterial N flow. At low SR, concentrate supplementation increased rumen degradable organic matter, which reduced NH3-N concentration and increased bacterial N flow. Based on these results, at low SR, concentrate supplementation may enhance animal performance because of higher total DM intake and synthesis of microbial protein.  相似文献

The paper proposes a hierarchical control design of an electro-hydraulic actuator, which is used to improve the roll stability of vehicles. The purpose of the control system is to generate a reference torque, which is required by the vehicle dynamic control. The control-oriented model of the actuator is formulated in two subsystems. The high-level hydromotor is described in a linear form, while the low-level spool valve is a polynomial system. These subsystems require different control strategies. At the high level, a linear parameter-varying control is used to guarantee performance specifications. At the low level, a control Lyapunov-function-based algorithm, which creates discrete control input values of the valve, is proposed. The interaction between the two subsystems is guaranteed by the spool displacement, which is control input at the high level and must be tracked at the low-level control. The spool displacement has physical constraints, which must also be incorporated into the control design. The robust design of the high-level control incorporates the imprecision of the low-level control as an uncertainty of the system.  相似文献
