We introduce a novel algorithm for online estimation of Acoustic Impulse Responses (AIRs) which allows for fast convergence by exploiting prior knowledge about the fundamental structure of AIRs. The proposed method assumes that the variability of AIRs of an acoustic scene is confined to a low-dimensional manifold which is embedded in a high-dimensional space of possible AIR estimates. We discuss various approaches which exploit a training data set of AIRs, e.g., high-accuracy AIR estimates from the acoustic scene, to learn a local affine subspace approximation of the AIR manifold. The model is motivated by the idea of describing the generally nonlinear AIR manifold locally by tangential hyperplanes and its validity is verified for simulated data. Subsequently, we describe how the manifold assumption can be used to enhance online AIR estimates by projecting them onto an adaptively estimated subspace. Motivated by the assumption of manifolds being locally Euclidean, the parameters determining the adaptive subspace are learned from the nearest neighbor AIR training samples to the current AIR estimate. To assess the proximity of training data AIRs to the current AIR estimate, we introduce a probabilistic extension of the Euclidean distance which improves the performance for applications with non-white excitation signals. Furthermore, we describe how model imperfections can be tackled by a soft projection of the AIR estimates. The proposed algorithm exhibits significantly faster convergence properties in comparison to a high-performance state-of-the-art algorithm. Furthermore, we show an improved steady-state performance for speech-excited system identification scenarios suffering from high-level interfering noise and nonunique solutions.

Extrusions of hollow profiles with weld seams were conducted using the magnesium alloy ME21 applying various extrusion ratios. Subsequent analysis of the profiles’ microstructure was performed comparing weld free with weld seam containing material using (polarized) light optical microscopy (LOM). Additionally, the local texture and microstructure in the weld-free material as well as in the weld seam region has been examined with a scanning electron microscope coupled with electron backscatter diffraction technique (SEM-EBSD). The weld-free material and the weld seam are characterized by recrystallized microstructures, whereas few residual cast grains were identified. The local texture distinctively changes from the weld-free material to the weld seam. The texture of the weld-free material is comparable with the typical ME21 sheet texture. In the weld seam area, a pole density is found, which is distributed towards the transverse direction (TD) combined with a split and broadening of the pole density in the extrusion direction (ED). This texture influences the mechanical anisotropy due to the dependence of the activation of basal 〈a〉-slip and \( \{ 10\bar{1}2\} \;\langle 10\bar{1}1\rangle \)-extension twinning on the loading direction in favorably oriented grains.  相似文献

In order to clarify the influence of intrauterine growth restriction on systemic hemodynamics, catecholamine response, and regional distribution of brain energy metabolites per se and during mild hypoxic episodes a study was performed in thirty newborns with a well-characterized state of intrauterine and intra-natal development. Thirty animals were divided into fifteen normal weight piglets (NW) and fifteen intrauterine growth restricted (IUGR) piglets according to their birth weight. Category "NW" covered animals with a birth weight of > 40th percentile; IUGR category covered animals with a birth weight of > 5th and < 10th percentiles. Animals were anesthetized with halothane in 70% nitrous oxide and 30% oxygen and after immobilization artificially ventilated. The acid-base balance and blood gas values at baseline conditions were similar within the different groups investigated and consistent with other data obtained from anesthetized and artificially ventilated newborn piglets. Mild hypoxic hypoxia which was induced by lowering the FiO2 from 0.35 to 0.15 resulted in reduced arterial pO2 (NW: from 115 +/- 37 mmHg to 39 +/- 7 mmHg; IUGR: from 117 +/- 23 mmHg to 39 +/- 3 mmHg; p < 0.05), but arterial pH and pCO2 remained unchanged. Under baseline conditions arterial blood pressure, cardiac output, and myocardial contractility, expressed as dp/dt(max) and plasma catecholamine values were similar in all groups studied. Heart rate was slightly increased in IUGR (p < 0.05). Mild hypoxia led to a strong increase of myocardial contractility in NW as well as IUGR piglets to 2.4 and 2.7 fold and remained increased during recovery (p < 0.05). Moreover, total peripheral resistance was enhanced at the end of recovery period in IUGR animals (p < 0.05). There was a significant increase of epinephrine (E) in NW animals in comparison to sham-operated animals (p < 0.05). Interestingly, during reoxygenation the further increase in E and norepinephrine (NE) levels were enhanced in the animals which suffered from mild hypoxia (p < 0.05). Regional distribution of brain tissue metabolites was partly affected by intrauterine growth restriction. In particular, brain tissue glucose content was strongly reduced by 65 to 72 per cent in all brain regions investigated. Mild hypoxia led to an increase of about 30 percent in NW animals (p < 0.05). In IUGR piglets the percentage increase of brain glucose content was on an average more pronounced but with considerably higher variance. Also, a strong increase of brain lactate content appeared here (p < 0.05). In contrast, brain tissue ATP was quite similar in all groups studied, but brain creatine phosphate was significantly reduced in some forebrain structures of IUGR piglets after mild hypoxia (figure 2, p < 0.05). In summary, this investigation provides information on cardiovascular functions and brain metabolites of normal weight and naturally occurring growth restricted newborn piglets. Mild hypoxemia was well-tolerated from both animal groups. It is suggested that lactate may play a significant role as a source for brain energy production in the newborn IUGR piglets.  相似文献

Summary Using a bead spring model of flexible polymer chains, the density profiles and chain configurational properties of polymer solutions confined between parallel plates were studied. A wide range of density , chain length N, and strength of a short-range attractive wall potential was investigated. Both a temperature T in the good solvent regime (T > , being the Theta temperature where a chain in unconfined bulk three-dimensional solution would behave ideally) and a temperature in the bad solvent regime (T < ) were considered. It is shown that phase separation in a polymer-rich and polymer-poor solution in the slit competes with polymer adsorption at the walls. A qualitative connection to the wetting behavior of semi-infinite polymer solutions is drawn. The acceptance rate for monomer motions was studied for various conditions, and profiles of monomer mobility across the slit were recorded. Also, average chain relaxation times were extracted from the time dependence of mean-square displacements. Although with increasing density the chain radii (at T > ) show a crossover from two-dimensional excluded volume behavior (Rg N2 with = 3/4) to ideal random walk behavior ( = 1/2), the relaxation times show effective exponents Zeff ( NZ eff) that clearly deviate from the Rouse prediction in concentrated confined solutions.  相似文献

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) have been consistently detected in a subgroup of patients with Crohn's disease (CD). This study was designed to determine whether serum ANCA expression in patients with CD characterizes an identifiable clinical subgroup. METHODS: The study population consisted of 69 consecutive patients with an established diagnosis of CD as determined by a combination of characteristic clinical, radiographic, endoscopic, and histopathologic criteria. Sera from the patients were analyzed for the presence of ANCAs using the fixed neutrophil enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) assay. Perinuclear ANCA (pANCA)-positive and cytoplasmic ANCA (cANCA)-positive results by ELISA were confirmed by indirect immunofluorescence staining. Clinical profiles of the ANCA-positive patients with CD were compared with those of patients with CD not expressing ANCA (ANCA-negative). RESULTS: pANCA-positive patients with CD have endoscopically and/or histopathologically documented left-sided colitis and symptoms of left-sided colonic inflammation, clinically reflected by rectal bleeding and mucus discharge, urgency, and treatment with topical agents. One hundred percent of patients with CD expressing pANCA had "UC-like" features. CONCLUSIONS: In patients with CD, serum pANCA expression characterizes a UC-like clinical phenotype. Stratification of CD by serum pANCA provides evidence of heterogeneity within CD and suggests a common intestinal mucosal inflammatory process among a definable subgroup of patients with CD and UC expressing this marker.  相似文献

Embedded wireless sensors are important components of mobile distributed computing networks, and one of the target applications areas is health care. The preservation of mobility for senior citizens is one of the key issues in maintaining an independent lifestyle. Thus health technologies inside a car can contribute both to safety issues (supervision of driver fitness) as well as healthcare issues by monitoring vitals signs imperceptibly. In this paper, three embedded measurement techniques for non-contact monitoring of vital signals have been investigated. Specifically, capacitive electrocardiogram (cECG) monitoring, mechanical movement analysis (ballistocardiogram, BCG) using piezo-foils and inductive impedance monitoring were examined regarding their potential for integration into car seats. All three sensing techniques omit the need for electroconductive contact to the human body, but require defined mechanical boundary conditions (stable distances or, in the case of BCG, frictional connection). The physical principles of operation, the specific boundary conditions regarding automotive integration and the results during wireless operation in a running car are presented. All three sensors were equipped with local intelligence by incorporating a microcontroller. To eliminate the need for additional cabling, a wireless Bluetooth communication module was added and used to transmit data to a measurement PC. Finally, preliminary results obtained during test drives on German city roads and highways are discussed.  相似文献

IntroductionAll hospitals in the province of Styria (Austria) are well equipped with sophisticated Information Technology, which provides all-encompassing on-screen patient information. Previous research made on the theoretical properties, advantages and disadvantages, of reading from paper vs. reading from a screen has resulted in the assumption that reading from a screen is slower, less accurate and more tiring. However, recent flat screen technology, especially on the basis of LCD, is of such high quality that obviously this assumption should now be challenged. As the electronic storage and presentation of information has many advantages in addition to a faster transfer and processing of the information, the usage of electronic screens in clinics should outperform the traditional hardcopy in both execution and preference ratings.This study took part in a County hospital Styria, Austria, with 111 medical professionals, working in a real-life setting. They were each asked to read original and authentic diagnosis reports, a gynecological report and an internal medical document, on both screen and paper in a randomly assigned order. Reading comprehension was measured by the Chunked Reading Test, and speed and accuracy of reading performance was quantified. In order to get a full understanding of the clinicians' preferences, subjective ratings were also collected.ResultsWilcoxon Signed Rank Tests showed no significant differences on reading performance between paper vs. screen. However, medical professionals showed a significant (90%) preference for reading from paper. Despite the high quality and the benefits of electronic media, paper still has some qualities which cannot provided electronically do date.  相似文献

Ubiquitous computing is about to become part of our everyday lives by integrating hundreds of “invisible” to us computing devices in our environment, so that they can unobtrusively and constantly assist us. This will imply more and smaller “invisible” sensors, homogeneously distributed and at the same time densely packed in host materials, responding to various stimuli and immediately delivering information. In order to reach this aim, the embedded sensors should be integrated within the host material, heading towards sensorial materials. The first step is to omit all parts that are not needed for the sensorial task and to find new solutions for a gentle integration. This is what we call function scale integration. The paper discusses sensor embedding in the human hand as an example of integration in nature, new technological applications and main challenges associated with this approach.  相似文献

The research on materials and systems for tunable microwave devices has gained attraction within the last years. The radio frequency characterization and the component design of tunable microwave components based on dielectric ceramics especially barium-strontium-titanate (BST) are presented in this second part, whereas the basic material properties are discussed in detail in the first part. After a short introduction to the processing technology used for the fabrication of tunable components based on a BST thick film, the relations between microwave properties and material properties as well as the microstructure are presented in detail. The design process for tunable microwave components based on BST thick films is described. Especially the considerations related to micro- and macrostructure and their connection are highlighted. The paper closes with two different application examples: a reconfigurable array antenna for satellite communication and varactors for high power applications.  相似文献
