A method for the simultaneous determination of calorific value Qr, ash yieldAr and total water content Wrt of soft brown coals is described. The method involves instrumental analysis of brown coal samples using neutron thermalization and gamma back-scattering techniques. Over 80 coal samples (1.1 kg) were analysed, having Qrvalues up to 15.5 MJ kg?1,Ar ranging from 3.6 to 76.1 wt% and Wrt ranging from 11.4 to 61.7 wt%. A comparison of the results from the instrumental method with those of standard laboratory analyses is given, followed by a discussion of the accuracy of the method and of possible ways for improving it. 相似文献

Migraine is a common neurological disease that affects about 11% of the adult population. The disease is divided into two main clinical subtypes: migraine with aura and migraine without aura. According to the neurovascular theory of migraine, the activation of the trigeminovascular system (TGVS) and the release of numerous neuropeptides, including calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) are involved in headache pathogenesis. TGVS can be activated by cortical spreading depression (CSD), a phenomenon responsible for the aura. The mechanism of CSD, stemming in part from aberrant interactions between neurons and glia have been studied in models of familial hemiplegic migraine (FHM), a rare monogenic form of migraine with aura. The present review focuses on those interactions, especially as seen in FHM type 1, a variant of the disease caused by a mutation in CACNA1A, which encodes the α1A subunit of the P/Q-type voltage-gated calcium channel. 相似文献

Two types of polymeric sols, resorcinol‐formaldehyde (RF) and resorcinol‐furfural (RFur), were mixed in a water‐containing medium with aqueous solutions of inorganic salts: NH4ClO4, Mg(ClO4)2, and NH4NO3. After gelation and an ambient pressure drying, hybrid nanocomposites with properties of energetic materials were obtained. It was stated that salt concentration and addition of a second solvent (e.g., methanol or N,N‐dimethylformamide) to the mixture of reagents have crucial meaning for gel formation. In the case when only water was used, the mixture of organic sol/inorganic salt did not transfer from sol to gel, and precipitates were formed. Conventional drying of wet gelled composites leads to rigid material called xerogels. The RF xerogels are red and RFur xerogels are black. Typically, xerogels are transparent at low salt concentration (below 30%). The microstructure, morphology, and some other properties of chosen composites were studied by means of HR SEM, AFM, XRD, DTA/TG, and N2 adsorption isotherm techniques. SEM observation revealed that sizes of the oxidizer particles vary from less than 100 nm to ca. 1000 nm. XRD analyses also confirmed the presence of nanometer‐sized crystals of oxidizers in some formulations. The specific surface area of polymeric matrix/oxidizer composites was found to be in the range from 0.002 to 0.3 m2 g−1. After removing the salt from the composites (by extraction with boiling water), the specific surface area grows even up to 210 m2 g−1. TG/DTA analyses showed that the tested composites decompose as typical energetic materials. If pre‐heated and exposed to flame, some of them (especially RF/Mg(ClO4)2 composites) undergo violent deflagration with loud sound and flash effect. 相似文献

The blends of pectin (PEC) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) at different components ratios were prepared by mixing in water. Thin polymeric films of PEC/PVA blends and pure polymers were obtained by casting method. All samples were then artificially aged using Suntest apparatus (Atlas) up to 780 h. The changes in chemical structure during sample ageing have been monitored by infrared and ultraviolet‐visible absorption spectroscopies. The first stage of weathering (up to ~ 300 h) was very slow and alteration of chemical structure was negligible in all samples. Prolonged ageing (>300 h) caused more significant degradation processes. FTIR spectra exhibited the highest changes in hydroxyl and carbonyl band ranges indicating the efficient photooxidation of macromolecules. The mechanisms of the observed processes have been discussed. It was found that PVA undergoes faster photoxidative degradation than pectin aged at the same conditions. The PEC/PVA blends exhibited the improved resistance to weathering comparing with both polymers aged individually. Modeling of the degradation kinetics of biodegradable scaffolds: The effects of the environmental conditions 下载免费PDF全文
The rate of hydrolytic degradation of tissue‐engineered scaffolds made from bioresorbable polyesters is dependent on several factors. Some are related to the properties of the degrading polymeric material, but others are related to the geometry of the porous structure and the operating environment. It is well known that the rate of hydrolytic degradation of a given object, porous or nonporous, is lower when it is exposed to dynamic conditions, a flowing medium, than when it operates in static conditions. The most likely reason is the more efficient removal of the acidic degradation products from the vicinity of the polymeric material when it is operating in a flowing medium. In this article, we present a new phenomenological reaction–diffusion model of aliphatic polymer degradation. The model can be used to predict the significance of various factors in in vitro degradation tests, with particular reference to the flow of the degradation medium, and the frequency of medium replacement in the case of static conditions. The developed model was used to simulate the degradation of poly(dl ‐lactide‐co‐glycolide) scaffolds with different porosities subjected to static and dynamic testing conditions. The results confirm that the porosity of the scaffold had a significant influence on the degradation rate. It was shown that the combination of dynamic conditions and high porosity effectively reduced the mass loss and molecular weight loss of the degrading polymer. Excess adiposity is associated with chronic inflammation, which takes part in the development of obesity-related complications. The aim of this study was to establish whether subcutaneous (SAT) or visceral (VAT) adipose tissue plays a major role in synthesis of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Concentrations of interleukins (IL): 1β, 6, 8 and 15 were measured at the protein level by an ELISA-based method and on the mRNA level by real-time PCR in VAT and SAT samples obtained from 49 obese (BMI > 40 kg/m2) and 16 normal-weight (BMI 20–24.9 kg/m2) controls. IL-6 and IL-15 protein concentrations were higher in SAT than in VAT for both obese (p = 0.003 and p < 0.0001, respectively) and control individuals (p = 0.004 and p = 0.001, respectively), while for IL-1β this was observed only in obese subjects (p = 0.047). What characterized obese individuals was the higher expression of IL-6 and IL-15 at the protein level in VAT compared to normal-weight controls (p = 0.047 and p = 0.016, respectively). Additionally, obese individuals with metabolic syndrome had higher IL-1β levels in VAT than did obese individuals without this syndrome (p = 0.003). In conclusion, concentrations of some pro-inflammatory cytokines were higher in SAT than in VAT, but it was the increased pro-inflammatory activity of VAT that was associated with obesity and metabolic syndrome. 相似文献

Methods of electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction have been used to investigate structural and phase transformations in the aluminum alloy of grade A2024 (Al–4.5 Cu–1.37 Mg–0.61 Mn–0.07 Si–0.27 Fe–0.02 Zn–0.02 Ti (wt %)) after aging and deformation by shear under high quasi-static pressure. It has been shown that the combination of two-stage aging with megaplastic deformation leads to the refinement of the structure to a nanolevel and to strengthening of the alloy (to an increase in the microhardness to 3000 MPa). Thermal radiative characteristics of packed beds containing a mixture of polydispersed SiO2, ZnO, and C particles are determined numerically by employing the Monte Carlo technique, which is validated with the experimentally measured overall transmittance. A radiative heat transfer model is formulated for a pseudo-continuum multi-component medium of Mie-scattering particles.
