The performance of a storage policy in a warehouse is usually evaluated on the basis of the average one-way travel distance/time needed to store/retrieve a load. Dividing the storage space into zones based on item turnover frequency can reduce the travel distance. However, for a given number of stored items, a larger number of storage zones also requires more storage space, because of reduced space sharing between the items, which increases travel time. This study considers the required space consumption by storage zoning in comparing the performance of random, full turnover-based and class-based storage policies for a unit-load warehouse operated by a forklift in single-command mode. A generalised travel distance model that considers the required space consumption is developed to compare the performance of these policies. Results show that the one-way travel distance of a random policy decreases with the increase in skewness of the demand curve. By considering the required space consumption, a class-based storage policy performs generally better than a full turnover-based policy. In addition, the optimal warehouse shape factor (ratio of warehouse width to depth) appears to decrease with the skewness of the demand curve. Warehouse managers are advised to adopt a wide-shallow warehouse layout when the item demands are approximately equal, whereas a narrow-deep layout is preferred when the demand curves are steep. 相似文献

Gas-sensing performances can often be enhanced significantly once the size of sensing nanomaterials approaches a critical value of 15 nm. Here, we synthesize, by a simple hydrothermal method accompanied by the calcination process, ultrathin ZnO nanosheets with a thickness as thin as 10–13 nm. We find that the prepared zinc hydroxide carbonate precursor is largely agglomerated, yet transformed to the ultrathin ZnO nanosheets in a dispersive fashion after the calcination process. The as-prepared ultrathin nanosheets exhibit excellent gas-sensing functions to ethanol gas at the optimal temperature as low as 300 °C under the concentration of 50 ppm, rendering them a promising sensing material for the on-site detection of ethanol. 相似文献

In this study, we developed a simple approach for the controllable growth of whitlockite(WH) on a β-tricalcium phosphate surface and investigated its cell viability via CCK-8, its live-dead staining and its alkaline phosphatase activity. Herein, WH with controllable morphologies was prepared by regulating the hydrothermal reaction conditions. The results of scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Xray photoelectron spectroscopy indicated that pure hexagonal plates of WH were prepared successfully.In vitro cell experiments showed that WH possessed excellent biocompatibility and effectively promoted the adhesion and proliferation of mouse bone mesenchymal stem cells. A new method to directly grow graphene on quartz glass substrate by atmospheric-pressure chemical vapor deposition (CVD) without using any catalyst was developed. The prime feature of this method is to build a vertical-glass model in the quartz tube to significantly increase the collision probability of the carbon precursors and reactive fragments between each other with the glass surface. The growth rate of high-quality graphene on glass remarkably increases compared with the conventional gas flow CVD technique. The optical transmittance and sheet resistance of the graphene glass can be readily adjusted by regulating growth time. When growth time is 35?min, the graphene glass presents an intriguing sheet resistance of about 1.48 kΩ sq?1 at a transmittance of 93.08% and exhibits an excellent hydrophobic performance. The method is simple and scalable, and might stimulate various potential applications of transparent and conductive graphene glass in practical fields. 相似文献
