For some years now, the process industry has been meeting the challenges of the markets with modular production and logistics concepts. This article presents this development process in the form of a four-stage transformation model. It is shown that the path towards modular production environments can be taken step by step. The motto is “evolution instead of revolution”. First, an overview of the state of the art of modularized production and logistics systems is given. Based on this, the article describes and classifies the four different stages of modularization. 相似文献
Natural disasters greatly impact the environment of affected societies with often unknown consequences. In this study we examine the impact that the Canterbury Earthquakes of 2010–2011 had on the distribution of alcohol outlets in Christchurch, New Zealand. Specifically, we compare the distribution of both on-site and off-site alcohol outlets pre- (December 2009) and post-earthquake (December 2014) and use spatial regression models to identify whether any neighbourhood-level factors predict the observed redistributions. Overall, the number of alcohol outlets decreased by almost 13% after the Canterbury Earthquakes. However, we found a moderate increase in the clustering of both outlet types of outlets in the post-quake period. Increases in rates of both on-site and off-site alcohol outlets in neighbourhoods were positively associated with the percentage of residents who resided in their neighbourhood < 5 years and with neighbourhood crime rate change, while negative associations were found with percentage population aged between 15 and 29 years. The results suggest that the changing spatial distribution of alcohol outlets in Christchurch was not random but driven, in part, by the emergent demographic composition of neighbourhoods. The significant practical and policy implications of a redistribution of alcohol outlets are outlined providing a tangible link between empirical research and practice in an urban environment plagued with post-disaster spatial and social uncertainties. 相似文献
L-NG-nitroarginine (LNNA), an analog of L-arginine, is a competitive inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase which causes the selective reduction of blood flow to tumor cells. Despite the potential of LNNA to function as an adjuvant in cancer therapies, its poor solubility and stability have hindered the development of an injectable formulation of LNNA that is suitable for human administration. This work, for the first time, details a systematic study on the determination of equilibrium Ka constants and the rate law of LNNA degradation. The four Ka values of LNNA were determined to be 1.03, 1.10?×?10?2, 2.51?×?10?10, and 1.33?×?10?13 M. From the kinetic and equilibrium studies, we have shown that the deprotonated form of LNNA is the main form of LNNA that undergoes degradation in aqueous media at room temperature. The rate law of LNNA degradation was found to be first order with respect to OH? concentration and first order with respect to LNNA? concentration. The rate constant at 25?°C and 1?atm was determined to be 0.04453 M?1min?1. A base catalyzed mechanism of LNNA degradation was proposed based on the kinetic study. The mechanism was found to be very useful in explaining the discrepancies and changes of the rate law at different pH values. It is thus recommended that LNNA should be formulated as a concentrated solution in acidic conditions for maximum chemical stability during storage and be diluted with a basic solution to near physiological pH just before administration. 相似文献
The acute phase protein serum amyloid A (SAA), a marker of inflammation, induces expression of pro-inflammatory and pro-thrombotic mediators including ICAM-1, VCAM-1, IL-6, IL-8, MCP-1 and tissue factor (TF) in both monocytes/macrophages and endothelial cells, and induces endothelial dysfunction—a precursor to atherosclerosis. In this study, we determined the effect of pharmacological inhibition of known SAA receptors on pro-inflammatory and pro-thrombotic activities of SAA in human carotid artery endothelial cells (HCtAEC). HCtAEC were pre-treated with inhibitors of formyl peptide receptor-like-1 (FPRL-1), WRW4; receptor for advanced glycation-endproducts (RAGE), (endogenous secretory RAGE; esRAGE) and toll-like receptors-2/4 (TLR2/4) (OxPapC), before stimulation by added SAA. Inhibitor activity was also compared to high-density lipoprotein (HDL), a known inhibitor of SAA-induced effects on endothelial cells. SAA significantly increased gene expression of TF, NFκB and TNF and protein levels of TF and VEGF in HCtAEC. These effects were inhibited to variable extents by WRW4, esRAGE and OxPapC either alone or in combination, suggesting involvement of endothelial cell SAA receptors in pro-atherogenic gene expression. In contrast, HDL consistently showed the greatest inhibitory action, and often abrogated SAA-mediated responses. Increasing HDL levels relative to circulating free SAA may prevent SAA-mediated endothelial dysfunction and ameliorate atherogenesis. 相似文献
A bulk-optics, polarization-independent phase shifter for photonic quantum information applications is demonstrated. The device is based on a transverse electro-optic modulator in a Sagnac-type loop containing Faraday rotators. This direction-dependent polarization rotation in the loop is combined with a Mach-Zehnder interferometer to form an optical switch with an on/off contrast of 96% and a switching time of 1.6 ns. We demonstrate that the device's operation maintains any arbitrary polarization state. 相似文献
To determine T1 and T2 relaxation times of healthy pancreas parenchyma at 7 T using a multi-transmit system.
Materials and methods
Twenty-six healthy subjects were scanned with a 7 T MR system using eight parallel transceiver antennas, each with two additional receive loops. A Look-Locker sequence was used to obtain images for T1 determination, while T2 was obtained from spin-echo images and magnetic resonance spectroscopy measurements with different echo times. T1 and T2 times were calculated using a mono-exponential fit of the average magnitude signal from a region of interest in the pancreas and were tested for correlation with age.
Results
The age range of the included subjects was 21–72 years. Average T1 and T2 relaxation times in healthy pancreas were 896 ± 149 ms, and 26.7 ± 5.3 ms, respectively. No correlation with age was found.
Conclusion
T1 and T2 relaxation times of the healthy pancreas were reported for 7 T, which can be used for image acquisition optimization. No significant correlations were found between age and T1 or T2 relaxation times of the pancreas. Considering their low standard deviation and no observable age dependence, these values may be used as a baseline to study potentially pancreatic tissue affected by disease.
The wedge-drawing test is re-evaluated in the light of improved methods of lubrication. The test is used to study the radial drawing of anisotropic sheet materials and the experimental results correlate well with theoretical predictions based on the orthotropic theory of plasticity. In the theoretical analysis planar anisotropy is considered as well as normal anisotropy. The materials tested were soft and half-hard aluminium, soft 70/30 brass, killed steel and titanium. It is clearly demonstrated that the wedge-drawing test does not simulate the instability conditions existing in deep-drawing. While in deep-drawing increasing R-values can lead to large increases in limiting drawing ratio, this is not the case in wedge-drawing. 相似文献
Acoustic velocity inhomogeneities in tissue result in aberration of ultrasound images. These aberrations can be modeled as a near field thin phase screen or as a distributed aberrator. The effect of a near field thin phase screen is to time shift the received echo at each element, while distributed aberrators result in both pulse distortions and time shifts from element to element. Most current techniques for the correction of distributed aberrators are limited to application on point targets. A new technique is proposed which uses multiple transmits from spatially shifted transmit apertures (the translating transmit aperture algorithm), in conjunction with phase conjugate filters, to correct for distributed aberrations in the presence of speckle targets. The performance of the translating transmit aperture algorithm in improving the correlation between signals received by elements of different spatial separations is measured, and factors affecting the performance of this technique are investigated in simulation and experiment. 相似文献
