Slags used in steelmaking and continuous casting that contain SiO2, Na2O, and CaF2 tend to be unstable and gaseous. Species, such as NaF and SiF4, evolve simultaneously from these slags at steelmaking temperatures. In addition, the reaction between NaF and SiF4 can occur to produce Na2SiF6 (sodium hexafluorosilicate). In a previous study on the vaporization of NaF into an inert gas stream, the diffusivity of NaF in argon, nitrogen, and helium was measured. In this study, the rate of NaF vaporization in a SiF4 atmosphere was measured. Ternary diffusion coefficients were then evaluated from the binary diffusion coefficients obtained in a previous study, and a kinetic analysis was carried out. The rate calculations were found to be in accord with the measured results, indicating that the experiments were carried out in a regime where diffusion of NaF from the surface of the sample was rate controlling.  相似文献

Spontaneous fluoride emissions from high-temperature processes can result in an increased atmospheric fluorine content and environmental contamination. Thermotropic liquid-crystalline compounds were applied as membrane materials (membrane solvent and neutral carrier) for neutral carrier-type ion sensors to investigate how the ordered arrangement of neutral carriers affects the property of the resulting ion sensors. Nematic, smectic, and cholesteric liquid-crystalline compounds were used as the membrane solvents and crown ether derivatives with a molecular structure similar to the liquid-crystalline solvent as the K+ neutral carriers. Polarized IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction experiments confirmed that the highly ordered arrangement of membrane components was retained in the liquid-crystal-based ion-sensing membranes containing a neutral carrier and a lipophilic salt. The ordered arrangement of neutral carriers in the liquid-crystalline membranes enhanced the ion selectivity significantly, probably due to the efficient cooperation of two adjacent crown ether moieties in the highly ordered and aggregated state.  相似文献

Anodically pretreated diamond electrodes have been used for the detection of chlorophenols (CPs) in environmental water samples after high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) separation. The anodization of as-deposited boron-doped polycrystalline diamond thin-film electrodes has enabled the stable determination of phenols over a wide concentration range. Prior to the HPLC analysis, a comparative study with ordinary glassy carbon, as-deposited diamond, and anodized diamond was made to examine the oxidative behavior of phenols by cyclic voltammety and flow injection analysis with amperometric detection. At anodized diamond electrodes, reproducible, well-defined cyclic voltammograms were obtained even at high CP concentration (5 mM), due to a low proclivity for adsorption of the oxidation products on the surface. In addition, after prolonged use, the partially deactivated diamond could be reactivated on line by applying a highly anodic potential (2.64 Vvs SCE) for 4 min, which enabled the destruction of the electrodeposited polymer deposits. Hydroxyl radicals produced by the high applied potential, in which oxygen evolution occurs, are believed to be responsible for the oxidation of the passivating layer on the surface. When coupled with flow injection analysis (FIA), anodized diamond exhibited excellent stability, with a response variability of 2.3% (n = 100), for the oxidation of a high concentration (5 mM) of chlorophenol. In contrast, glassy carbon exhibited a response variability of 39.1%. After 100 injections, the relative peak intensity, for diamond decreased by 10%, while a drastic decrease of 70% was observed for glassy carbon. The detection limit obtained in the FIA mode for 2,4-dichlorophenol was found to be 20 nM (S/N = 3), with a linear dynamic range up to 100 microM. By coupling with the column-switching technique, which enabled on-line preconcentration (50 times), the detection limit was lowered to 0.4 nM (S/N = 3). By use of this technique, anodized diamond electrodes were demonstrated for the analysis of CPs in drainwater that was condensed from the flue gas of waste incinerators.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new, efficient algorithm for extracting similar sections between two time sequence data sets. The algorithm, called Relay Continuous Dynamic Programming (Relay CDP), realizes fast matching between arbitrary sections in the reference pattern and the input pattern and enables the extraction of similar sections in a frame synchronous manner. In addition, Relay CDP is extended to two types of applications that handle spoken documents. The first application is the extraction of repeated utterances in a presentation or a news speech because repeated utterances are assumed to be important parts of the speech. These repeated utterances can be regarded as labels for information retrieval. The second application is flexible spoken document retrieval. A phonetic model is introduced to cope with the speech of different speakers. The new algorithm allows a user to query by natural utterance and searches spoken documents for any partial matches to the query utterance. We present herein a detailed explanation of Relay CDP and the experimental results for the extraction of similar sections and report results for two applications using Relay CDP. Yoshiaki Itoh has been an associate professor in the Faculty of Software and Information Science at Iwate Prefectural University, Iwate, Japan, since 2001. He received the B.E. degree, M.E. degree, and Dr. Eng. from Tokyo University, Tokyo, in 1987, 1989, and 1999, respectively. From 1989 to 2001 he was a researcher and a staff member of Kawasaki Steel Corporation, Tokyo and Okayama. From 1992 to 1994 he transferred as a researcher to Real World Computing Partnership, Tsukuba, Japan. Dr. Itoh's research interests include spoken document processing without recognition, audio and video retrieval, and real-time human communication systems. He is a member of ISCA, Acoustical Society of Japan, Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, Information Processing Society of Japan, and Japan Society of Artificial Intelligence. Kazuyo Tanaka has been a professor at the University of Tsukuba, Tsukuba, Japan, since 2002. He received the B.E. degree from Yokohama National University, Yokohama, Japan, in 1970, and the Dr. Eng. degree from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1984. From 1971 to 2002 he was research officer of Electrotechnical Laboratory (ETL), Tsukuba, Japan, and the National Institute of Advanced Science and Technology (AIST), Tsukuba, Japan, where he was working on speech analysis, synthesis, recognition, and understanding, and also served as chief of the speech processing section. His current interests include digital signal processing, spoken document processing, and human information processing. He is a member of IEEE, ISCA, Acoustical Society of Japan, Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, and Japan Society of Artificial Intelligence. Shi-Wook Lee received the B.E. degree and M.E. degree from Yeungnam University, Korea and Ph.D. degree from the University of Tokyo in 1995, 1997, and 2001, respectively. Since 2001 he has been working in the Research Group of Speech and Auditory Signal Processing, the National Institute of Advanced Science and Technology (AIST), Tsukuba, Japan, as a postdoctoral fellow. We examine two-spin (2S) and cyclic four-spin (4S) magnetic interactions in insulating ladder and two-dimensional (2D) cuprates. By a comparison of eigenstates between d-p and Heisenberg models, we evaluate magnitudes of these interactions. We find that the 4S interaction is 10 % of nearest neighboring 2S interaction, and a diagonal 2S interaction is considerably small. The 4S interaction for a ladder cuprate is larger than that for 2D one, and plays an important role in the low-energy excitation. The Heisenberg ladder with the obtained 2S and 4S interactions reproduces very well the experimental result of the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility.  相似文献

IS1203v is an insertion sequence (IS) which is identical to the most abundant IS elements in the genome of Escherichia coli O157:H7. However, there is no sequence homologous to IS1203v in the genome of E. coli K-12. We constructed a system to analyze the excision frequency of IS1203v, and demonstrated that the frequency in E. coli O157:H7 was approximately 10(5) times higher than that in E. coli K-12. We also investigated the excision frequencies of IS1203v in various E. coli isolates, and showed that the excision frequencies of IS1203v-possessing strains were approximately 10(3) times higher than those of IS1203v-nonpossessing strains. The results suggest that the IS1203v-possessing strains use a common system to enhance IS1203v excision.  相似文献

Hiding image data with a material such as a light-scattering medium is useful as an initial stage of data protection, because the hidden image can be detected only by observation with a specific technique. A light-scattering medium is used to hide the image data, and a low-temporal-coherence interferometer performs the readout processing. A new readout method for detecting pixel values of the image is proposed to overcome spatial variation of the light intensity and distortion of the interference fringes. The introduction of spatial coding further improves the performance by overcoming spatial variations of the light-scattering medium and variations in the reflectance of given pixels.  相似文献
