Summary: Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) particles with micro‐size ranges (0.15–2 μm) were prepared by emulsion and dispersion polymerizationa and in supercritical carbon dioxide media. The PAN particles were blended with Nylon 6 (PA6) at 220 °C by using a miniature mixer; it was found that melt‐mixing was possible for PAN‐rich compositions as high as 70 wt.‐%. Blends were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, IR, viscosity measurements, differential scanning calorimetry, and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA). The size and shape of original PAN particles were retained in PAN/PA6 blends. The useful range to blend PAN particles size was less than 1 μm in terms of shape retention of the PAN particles in blends. Blends with 40 wt.‐% PAN content were found to be melt‐processable. The elastic modulus was higher for PAN/PA6 blends than pure PA6.

Summary Since the long-chain fatty acid sucrose diesters inevitably produced in the synthesis of monoesters are only slightly soluble in water, no important use can be found for them at the present time except as oilsoluble emulsifying agents. In order to exploit new uses we have attempted to improve their solubility in water by introducing oxyethylene radicals into the molecule. The addition reaction of ethylene oxide with the sucrose diesters was carried out in an autoclave in the presence of alkaline catalysts. With the reaction temperature maintained between 100–130° the pressure decreased as the reaction proceeded, and one to two hours were required to consume the ethylene oxide used. The addition products are yellow or orange oily materials soluble in water. Aqueous solutions showed good surface-active properties.  相似文献

The change in morphology and interface quantities have been analyzed for an immiscible polymer blend during reactive processing. A model polymer/polymer combination, hydroxy-terminated poly(ε-caprolactone)/liquid rubber with α, ω-carboxy groups, was employed. The blend was subjected to light scattering measurements, ellipsometry, and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Size reduction of the dispersed phase during processing was followed by a systematic decrease in the correlation distance ζ and an increase in the specific interfacial area Ssp, both by the Debye-Bueche plot of light scattering profiles. Also observed was the time variation of the volume fraction of interface Vλ estimated as a product of the Ssp and the interfacial thickness by ellipsometry. The changes in ζ, Ssp, and Vλ with processing were accelerated when a coupling agent,γ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS), was added. The amount of block copolymer formed in-situ in the APS-loaded system was estimated by GPC with RI and UV detectors. For the size reduction kinetics in both APS-loaded and -unloaded systems, Rittinger's law was found to be applicable.  相似文献

Poly(butylene succinate) and organically modified montmorillonite nanocomposites with there different compositions were prepared via melt blending in a twin‐screw extruder. The structure of the nanocomposites was studied with X‐ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy, which revealed the formation of intercalated nanocomposites, regardless of the silicate loading. Dynamic mechanical analysis revealed a substantial increase in the storage modulus of the nanocomposites over the entire temperature range investigated. The tensile property measurements showed a relative increase in the stiffness with a simultaneous decrease in the yield strength in comparison with that of neat poly(butylene succinate). The oxygen gas barrier property of neat poly(butylene succinate) improved after nanocomposite preparation with organically modified montmorillonite. The effect of the layered‐silicate loading on the melt‐state linear viscoelastic behavior of the intercalated nanocomposites was also investigated. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 2-Dibutylamino-1,3,5-triazine-4,6-dithiol (DB) and a mixture of DB and triallylisocyanurate (TAIC) were used as a lubricant during steel wire drawing due to a dry process. DB gave a polymer film with 180 nm in thickness to wire surfaces during the wire drawing. The polymer film had a disulfide structure on the backbone and contained a small amount of DB monomer and olygomer. Molecular weight and polymer weight increased with the drawing rate. The mixture of DB and TAIC gave mainly a three-dimensional polymer film with 225 nm in thickness to wire surfaces during drawing. The polymer film insoluble in THF had mono and disulfide structures and contained a small amount of linear polymer, DB, and TAIC. Such tribological polymerizations are estimated as follows: DB produces dithiyl radicals on a nascent surface formed during drawing and in the presence of oxygen and heat. The dithiyl radicals were polymerized by coupling with each other to give disulfide bonds or added to allyl groups in TAIC to give monosulfide bonds. It is concluded that this technique should be possible to use for unifying metal processing and surface treatment. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A new non-heating technique was developed for the sterilization of food stuff. Applying a roller compactor, ultra-high pressure sterilization has experimentally demonstrated its ability to sterilize dry powders, such as corn flour and Chinese herbs, with little quality deterioration. Also, the degree of food sterilization was found correlated well with the linear press forces between the rollers, roller gaps, and number of compaction passes. In comparison to the conventional high pressure sterilization technique, the new dry continuous processing method has the advantage of lower investment cost and is more versatile for sterilizing various food powders.  相似文献

Both silicon carbide and aluminum silicon carbide have simultaneously been obtained directly from naturally occurring aluminosilicate by carbothermal reduction for the first time. A precursor of a montmorillonite–polyacrylonitrile (PAN) intercalation compound was heated at 1700°C in Ar. For comparison, montmorillonite–carbon mixtures were similarly heated. α-SiC, β-SiC, and Al4Si2C5 formed from the montmorillonite–PAN intercalation compound. Mainly α-Al4SiC4 was obtained with ternary carbides from the montmorillonite–carbon mixtures in addition to a large amount of β-SiC. Hence, aluminum silicon carbide formation was affected by the mixing condition of the starting materials.  相似文献

Three-dimensional simulation using particle-thermal-fluid coupling scheme with a mixed Lagrangian-Eulerian approach is presented and the scheme is described by extending author's previous research [Y. Shimizu, 2004. “Fluid Coupling in PFC2D and PFC3D”, numerical modeling in micromechanics via particle methods—2004, Proceeding of 2nd International PFC Conference, Balkema, 2004, pp. 281-287]. The scheme solves the continuity, Navier-Stokes (N-S) and thermal energy equations numerically in Eulerian Cartesian coordinates, then derives pressure, velocity vectors and temperature for each fixed cell by considering particle existence. On the other hand, driving forces and thermal energy from fluid are applied to the particles as external body forces and a source term in the force-displacement law and the heat transfer calculations, respectively. This paper describes the thermal scheme for both fluid and particles. Results of two- and three-dimensional simulations involving forced convective heat transfer by fluid and conduction heat transfer within particles are presented.  相似文献

Three kinds of aramid fabrics, Technora (modified p-aramid), Conex (m-aramid) and Kevlar (p-aramid), were subjected to sputter etching and argon low-temperature plasma treatments after dyeing in black with disperse dyes. The depth of shade increased considerably on Technora and Kevlar with the sputter etching treatment, but not on Conex fabrics. Argon low-temperature plasma treatment had virtually no effect on the depth of shade on the aramid fabrics.  相似文献

The structure-activity relationship of eclosion hormone from the silkworm, Bombyx mori, was analyzed. First, the probable active residues in silkworm eclosion hormone and also tobacco hornworm eclosion hormone were predicted by the average distance map method. To examine the contributions of those residues to the activity of silkworm eclosion hormone, Gly-substituted mutants for those predicted residues were produced by site-directed mutagenesis and their activities were evaluated by a bioassay. Finally, Glu12, Met24 and Phe25 were estimated to be the crucial residues for the eclosion hormone activity. The possibility of the development of a blocker of an eclosion hormone receptor on the basis of the present work is also discussed.   相似文献
