Three‐dimensional fluorinated pentablock poly(l ‐lactide‐co‐ε‐caprolactone)‐based scaffolds were successfully produced by the incorporation of thermally exfoliated graphene oxide (TEGO) as an antimicrobial agent with an electrospinning technique. In a ring‐opening polymerization, the fluorinated groups in the middle of polymer backbone were attached with a perfluorinated reactive stabilizer having oxygen‐carrying ability. The fiber diameter and its morphologies were optimized through changes in TEGO amount, voltage, polymer concentration, and solvent type to obtain an ideal scaffold structure. Instead of the widely used graphene oxide synthesized by Hummer's method, TEGO sheets having a low amount of oxygen produced by thermal expansion were integrated into the fiber structure to investigate the effect of the oxygen functional groups of TEGO sheets on the degradation and antimicrobial activity of the scaffolds. There was no antimicrobial activity in TEGO‐reinforced scaffolds in the in vitro tests in contrast to the literature. This study confirmed that a low number of oxygen functional groups on the surface of TEGO restricted the antimicrobial activity of the fabricated composite scaffolds. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Comb‐type grafted hydrogels composed of polyacrylamide (PAAm) and chitosan (CT) were prepared and used for DNA adsorption. Instead of direct grafting of the acrylamide monomer onto the CT chain, semitelechelic PAAm with carboxylic acid end groups (PAAm–COOH) was synthesized by free‐radical polymerization with mercaptoacetic acid as the chain‐transfer agent, and it was grafted onto CT with amino groups. The synthesis of telechelic PAAm–COOH and the formation of comb‐type grafted hydrogels were confirmed by attenuated total reflectance/Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy measurements. The prepared comb‐type grafted hydrogels were used as sorbents in DNA adsorption experiments conducted at +4°C in a tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane/ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid solution of pH 7.4. DNA adsorption capacities as high as 2.0 × 103 μg of DNA/g of dry gel could be achieved by the comb‐type hydrogels with higher PAAm contents. This value was approximately 6 times higher than that of CT alone. In addition, the comb‐type hydrogels showed a high adsorption/desorption rate depending on the PAAm content in the hydrogel. As a result, these comb‐type hydrogels carrying higher amounts of DNA may be considered good candidates for achieving higher removal rates for anti‐DNA antibodies and for effective gene therapy systems. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The oxidative polycondensation reaction conditions of 2‐(2‐hydroxybenzylideneamino)‐6‐phenyl‐4,5,6,7‐tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene‐3‐carbonitrile were examined. The magnitude of the reflectance of the polymer decreases sharply with increasing of wavelength up to 524 nm, then reflectance of the polymer increases slowly with increasing of wavelength. The refractive index values of the polymer vary from 1.474 to 2.350. The Ep and Ed values of the polymer were found to be 4.56 and 7.068 eV, respectively. Absorption coefficient K of the polymer is of the order 817.062–1434.77 m?1. Angle values of incidence and refraction of the polymer vary from 57.36 to 66.95° and from 23.05 to 32.65°, respectively. The film‐phase thickness of the polymer increases with increasing photon energy. The thickness, d, of the polymer was of the order 439.3–4184.7 Å for 190 and 1100 nm, respectively. The real part of dielectric constant of the polymer decreases slowly with increasing of frequency up to about 600 THz, then the real part of dielectric constant of the polymer increases sharply with increasing of frequency. The real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant of the polymer vary from 2.17 to 5.52 and from 5.81 × 10?5 to 3.58 × 10?4, respectively. The adsorption capacity of UO in the presence of Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions was investigated with amidoximated poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) microbeads with an average size of 135 μm packed in a glass column (0.5‐cm i.d. and 20‐cm length, flow rate = 3 mL/min) under competitive conditions. A differential pulse polarography technique was used for the determination of trace quantities of uptaken elements by the measurement of the reduction peak currents at ?200/?950, ?400, and ?600 mV (vs a saturated calomel electrode) for UO, Pb(II), and Cd(II) ions, respectively. When only UO was found in the eluate, its adsorption was 85.3% from a 50 μM initial solution. However, when there was UO with binary systems of Pb(II) or Cd(II), it was 78.2 and 76.3%, respectively. On the other hand, in a ternary mixture of UO with Pb(II) and Cd(II), the adsorption was found to be 75.2% with the same initial concentration. According to the results, the competitive adsorption studies showed that these amidoximated PGMA microbeads had good adsorption selectivity for UO with the coexistence of Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions. Machining of hard materials has become a great challenge for several decades. One of the problems in this machining process is early tool wear, and this affects the machinability of hard materials. In order to increase machinability, cutting tools are widely coated with nanostructured physical vapor deposition hard coatings. The main characteristics of such advanced hard coatings are high microhardness and toughness as well as good adhesion to the substrate. In this paper, the influence of hard coatings (nanolayer AlTiN/TiN, multilayer nanocomposite TiAlSiN/TiSiN/TiAlN, and commercially available TiN/TiAlN) and cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut) on cutting forces and surface roughness were investigated during face milling of AISI O2 cold work tool steel (~61 HRC). The experiments were conducted based on 313 factorial design by response surface methodology, and response surface equations of cutting forces and surface roughness were obtained. In addition, the cutting forces obtained with the coated and uncoated tools were compared. The results showed that the interaction of coating type and depth of cut affects surface roughness. The hard coating type has no significant effect on cutting forces, while the cutting force F z is approximately two times higher in the case of uncoated tool.  相似文献

This paper investigates the effect of environmental features on house values while focusing on the interactions between landscaping attributes and home buyers' profile. The originality of this study rests on the assumption that, while neighbourhood characteristics translate into distinct sub-markets and primarily set the structure of house prices, individual home buyers' preferences, under specific market conditions, also affect values. The study benefits from two distinct, although related data sets on the single-family segment of Quebec City's housing market: while landscaping features were obtained via an extensive field survey of houses sold between 1993 and 2000, a detailed phone survey of related homeowners' family status, age and income profiles is being conducted since 2000. Findings suggest that household profile and structure do shape landscaping preferences and that utility patterns of homeowners may be best understood by looking at interactions between the two sets of variables. Considering that population aging is a major issue for economic and social planners, such a conclusion should be accounted for in housing policy design.  相似文献

Although sound AA6061-T6 joints can be produced by friction stir welding, a loss in strength takes place in the weld region. In this study, it was demonstrated that the strength of the nugget could be increased by the use of a higher strength interlayer during friction stir welding. This strength recovery cannot, however, be attainable in the heat affected zone. Although an external cooling was applied during welding in order to increase strength in the heat affected zone, it was not sufficient for achieving the required cooling condition for improved strength.  相似文献

The soluble degradation products were generated in a linear perfluoropolyalkylether (PFPAE) fluid in boundary lubrication. Perfluoropolyalkylether carboxylic acid species were found in the residual fluids from the sliding tests by vibration spectroscopy. Surface-bound organic and inorganic reaction products were identified by vibration microspectroscopy with a grazing angle objective attachment and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), respectively. Inorganic surface films were found to be composed primarily of FeF3. A monodentate perfluorocarboxylate surface species was found on the sliding surfaces in 50° and 100°C tests but not found in 150°C tests. The higher friction and wear in 150°C tests as compared to 50° and 100°C tests were attributed to the absence of the perfluorocarboxylate species over the sliding surfaces at high temperatures.  相似文献
