Herein, the assessment of commercial beef and chicken bouillons in terms of heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs) and some of their precursors was evaluated. Creatine and creatinine levels were ranged between 0.57–0.80 and 0.28–0.94 mg g−1, respectively. Glutamic acid was found to be the most abundant amino acid in both bouillons. 2-amino-3,7,8-trimethylimidazo[4,5-ƒ]quinoxaline (7,8-DiMeIQx, up to 0.03 ng g−1) was the only quantified analyte in beef bouillons, whereas it (up to 0.08 ng g−1) was determined in addition to 2-amino-3-methylimidazo[4,5-ƒ]quinoxaline (IQx, up to 0.08 ng g−1) in chicken bouillons. Creatine, creatinine and free amino acid composition did not have the capacity to initiate the formation of HAAs. Therefore, bouillons do not pose risk in terms of HAAs. However, it should be noted that multiple factors, such as the substrate amount and production conditions, may affect the results. Both dark and photo-fermentation can be used for biological hydrogen production; either performed separately, in two-stage systems, or in co-culture. A single stage process is less laborious and costly; however, the two types of microorganisms have different nutritional requirements requiring optimization of culture conditions. Here a response surface methodology (RSM) with a Box-Behnken design was used to optimize microorganism ratio and substrate and buffer concentrations, and to evaluate their interactive effects for maximization of hydrogen yield. Clostridium butyricum and Rhodopseudomonas palustris were grown on a potato starch/glucose base medium at 30 °C under continuous illumination (40 W m?2 light intensity). The highest hydrogen yield, 6.4 ± 1.3 mol H2/mol glucose, was obtained with a substrate concentration of 15 g/L, buffer concentration of 50 mM, and microorganism ratio of 3. The observed strong interaction between buffer and substrate concentration is most likely due to the need to optimize the pH for co-cultures. 相似文献

The thermal resistances of the Lactococcus lactis phages P008 (a heat-sensitive wide-spread phage) and P680 (a heat-resistant phage) suspended in milk and in solutions supplemented with milk components were studied to elucidate the protective role of milk on phage inactivation. For both phages a decrease of inactivation was observed in casein solution. Furthermore, the inactivation kinetics of the phages in whey, in whey cream (3.5%, 20%, 30% fat) and in whey protein concentrate (0.7%, 5%, 10% protein) were tested. The inactivation experiments in whey cream and in whey protein concentrate having different concentrations of fat and protein revealed that fat had no influence on the inactivation, while, in contrast, the presence of protein had a protective effect. 相似文献

Potential modulated attenuated total reflectance (PM-ATR) spectroscopy has been employed to study charge transfer processes in Prussian blue (PB) films deposited on indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes. PM-ATR is a planar waveguide-based spectroelectrochemical technique in which the optical response of an electroactive film is measured as a function of applied potential and modulation frequency. The multiple internal reflection geometry of PM-ATR provides a significant sensitivity advantage over the single external reflectance geometry that has been employed in most prior electroreflectance studies. The apparent electron transfer rate of PB on ITO obtained using PM-ATR was compared to that obtained with conventional cyclic voltammetry; the respective rates, 0.33 ± 0.15 s−1 (n = 3) and 0.71 ± 0.37 s−1 (n = 10), are in good agreement. 相似文献

Batch adsorption studies were carried out for the sorption of C.I. Reactive Black 5, a reactive dye, onto high lime fly ash, obtained from Soma Thermal Power Plant (Turkey), to be low cost adsorbent. The effect of various experimental parameters such as contact time, adsorbent dose and initial dye concentration were investigated. Determination of the adsorption equilibrium concentrations was determined by UV-vis spectrophotometry analytical method. Equilibrium data were fitted to the Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm equations and the equilibrium data were found to be well represented by the Freundlich isotherm equation. The adsorption kinetics of C.I. Reactive Black 5 onto high lime fly ash were also studied to characterize of the surface complexation reaction. A pseudo-second-order mechanism has been developed to predict the rate constant of the adsorption, the equilibrium capacity and initial adsorption rate with the effect of initial concentration. A single-stage batch adsorber design of the adsorption of C.I. Reactive Black 5 onto high lime fly ash has been studied based on the Freundlich isotherm equation. 相似文献
