Width-restricted layering of acyclic digraphs with consideration of dummy nodes

This paper deals with the problem of finding graph layerings restricted to a given maximal width. However, other than previous approaches for width-restricted layering, we take into account the space for dummy nodes, which are introduced by edges crossing a layer. The main result is that the problem of finding a width-restricted layering under consideration of dummy nodes is NP-complete even when all regular nodes have the same constant width and all dummy nodes have the same constant width.

Microstructural and textural characterization of a hot-rolled IF steel

The present paper reports the experimental results on the microstructural and textural characterization of a hot-rolled IF steel. The IF steel was hot-rolled in multiple passes in the austenitic field (1,070 °C) followed by air-cooling. SEM, TEM, and LOM were used to image the microstructure of the material. The global texture was determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. The mesotexture of selected regions was investigated by electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Results show the presence of a diffuse (nearly random) and weak texture in the hot-band that consists of recrystallized polygonal grains and subgrains. The fraction of boundaries with misorientations comprised in the interval 2° ≤ ψ < 15° was found to be lower than 5%. It can be concluded that these low angle boundaries and the presence of subgrains can be associated to the existence of a few areas softened by recovery during or after hot rolling in austenitic field.

Summary Potential polymeric herbicides have been synthesized by reacting poly(acrylic acid)s with 3-aniino-1,2,4-triazole and 1-acetyl-5-amino-1,2,4-triazole, respectively. The produced copolymers contained the active moieties as pendant groups in the range of 3 to 27 per cent of weight and with a content of carboxyl groups up to 95 mol-%. Method for Measuring Short-Crack R-Curves without Calibration Parameters: Case Studies on Alumina and Alumina/Aluminum Composites

A method to measure short-crack R -curves is introduced which does not require an independent determination of calibration factors and which utilizes an equilibrium crack shape condition to compute the shape factor of a surface crack, R -curves of an alumina with two different grain sizes and of an aluminum/alumina composite were measured in the crack length regime of below 100 μm up to almost 1000 μm. Calculated and experimentally obtained crack depth profiles were in good agreement with deviations being between −22% and +26% for the crack ellipticity and confirmed the reliability of the method.
