Monolithically integrated CoP nanowire array: An on/off switch for effective on-demand hydrogen generation via hydrolysis of NaBH<Subscript>4</Subscript> and NH<Subscript>3</Subscript>BH<Subscript>3</Subscript>

The issues of hydrogen generation and storage have hindered the widespread use and commercialization of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.It is thus highly attractive,but the design and development of highly active non-noble-metal catalysts for on-demand hydrogen release from alkaline NaBH4 solution under mild conditions remains a key challenge.Herein,we describe the use of CoP nanowire array integrated on a Ti mesh (CoP NA/Ti) as a three-dimensional (3D) monolithic catalyst for efficient hydrolytic dehydrogenation of NaBH4 in basic solutions.The CoP NA/Ti works as an on/off switch for on-demand hydrogen generation at a rate of 6,500 mL/(min.g) and a low activation energy of 41 kJ/mol.It is highly robust for repeated usage after recycling,without sacrificing catalytic performance.Remarkably,this catalyst also performs efficiently for the hydrolysis of NH3BH3.     

Molecular dynamics simulation on flow behavior of nanofluids between flat plates under shear flow condition

Molecular dynamic model of nanofluid between flat plates under shear flow conditions was built. The nanofluid model consisted of 12 spherical copper nanoparticles with each particle diameter of 4 nm and argon atoms as base liquid. The Lennard–Jones (LJ) potential function was adopted to deal with the interactions between atoms. Thus, the motion states of nanoparticles during the process of flowing were obtained and the flow behaviors of nanofluid between flat plates at different moments could be analyzed. The simulation results showed that an absorption layer of argon atoms existed surrounding each nanoparticle and would accompany with the particle to move. The absorption layer contributed little to the flow of nanoparticles but much to the heat transferring in nanofluids. Another phenomenon observed during shear flowing process was that the nanoparticles would vibrate and rotate besides main flowing with liquid argon and these micro-motions could strengthen partial flowing in nanofluids.     

Action categorization with modified hidden conditional random field

In this paper, we present a method for action categorization with a modified hidden conditional random field (HCRF). Specifically, effective silhouette-based action features are extracted using motion moments and spectrum of chain code. We formulate a modified HCRF (mHCRF) to have a guaranteed global optimum in the modelling of the temporal action dependencies after the HMM pathing stage. Experimental results on action categorization using this model are compared favorably against several existing model-based methods including GMM, SVM, Logistic Regression, HMM, CRF and HCRF.
