The humidity sensor characteristics of Woodceramics were investigated. The Woodceramics used in this experiment were prepared at 650–900°C. The size of specimens selected was 1 × 1 × 10 mm . One was used as-cut and the other was polished. Above 700°C, the resistance of the specimen was below 50 and the decrease of resistance with increasing relative humidity was small. The specimen prepared at 650°C had a resistance of about 1 k. The resistance of as-cut specimens decreased with increase in relative humidity, but that of the polished specimen did not change significantly. The difference between as-cut and polished samples was explained by the differences in surface micro-structure. 相似文献

The time-resolved reduction process of copper cations in/on ZSM-5 during temperature-programmed reduction (300–700 K) was studied by energy-dispersive X-ray absorption fine structure (DXAFS) as well as transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Two Cu-ZSM-5 samples with different Cu loadings were prepared by an ion-exchange method. The Cu K-edge DXAFS spectra for isolated Cu2+ species in the channels of ZSM-5 and CuO particles on the outer surfaces of ZSM-5 were recorded at an interval of 1 s during the reduction. The curve fitting analysis of the EXAFS data and the XANES analysis revealed that the isolated Cu2+ species in the channels were reduced stepwise. They were reduced to isolated Cu+ species at 400–450 K and the Cu+ species to Cu0 metallic clusters at 550–650 K. Small clusters like Cu4 were initially formed, followed by particle growth. A small part of them went out to the outer surfaces of ZSM-5 during the reduction. In contrast, CuO particles on the outer surfaces were reduced directly to Cu0 metallic particles around 450 K. 相似文献

Tuberculosis of the breast is a rare disease. Tubercular abscesses predominantly affecting the soft tissues are also very infrequent. A case of chest wall tuberculosis secondarily involving the breast presenting as a hard, fixed lump simulating mammary carcinoma is presented here. Pervaporation of ethanol/water mixtures through symmetric dense aromatic polyamide membranes was investigated. The membrane structure was controlled by varying the solvent evaporation time before gelation. The membranes were water-selective and the selectivity increased with an increase in the solvent evaporation time. On the other hand, the water flux as well as the ethanol flux decreased with an increase in the evaporation time. These results were consistent with the morphology change of the membrane which takes place with solvent evaporation: the decrease in the channel size. The effects of the downstream pressure on the pervaporation performances were also studied for membranes with different solvent evaporation times. the ethanol concentration in the permeate side increased with an increase in the downstream pressure to certain point, showed a maximum there, then decreased thereafter. The water flux decreased with an increase in the downstream pressure for all membranes studied; the dependence was expressed by a parabolic curve in the lower pressure range. The ethanol flux also decreased with an increase in the downstream pressure for the membrane with shorter evaporation time, while this flux was slightly affected by the downstream pressure for the membrane with longer evaporation time. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber membranes were prepared using the solvent spinning method. N,N-dimethylacetamide was the solvent and ethylene glycol was employed as non-solvent additive. The effect of the concentration of ethylene glycol in the PVDF spinning solution as well as the effect of ethanol either in the internal or the external coagulant on the morphology of the hollow fibers was investigated. The prepared membranes were characterized in terms of the liquid entry pressure of water measurements, the gas permeation tests, the scanning electron microscopy, the atomic force microscopy, and the solute transport experiments. Ultrafiltration experiments were conducted using polyethylene glycol and polyethylene oxides of different molecular weights cut-off as solutes. Consecutive rounds of diversification and selection of the fittest is believed to be the main driving force for the evolution of life. For the evolution of life to proceed, all living cells are surrounded by a lipid bilayer that separates their own genes from the external environment and from those of other organisms. In this way, the genetic information of an individual is replicated on the basis of their phenotype; thus the enrichment of the fittest will occur. Hence, evolution is based on linkage between genotype and phenotype owing to the surrounding of the genetic material with a barrier. The linkage between genotype and phenotype is also known to be essential for the directed evolution of proteins. Indeed, systems for molecular evolution, including phage display, ribosome display, and in vitro compartmentalization, all satisfy this requirement in different ways. These systems have been shown to be powerful tools for high-throughput screening for the functions of proteins, screening as many as <10(12) molecules in 1 d. These selection systems in combination with various gene libraries yield proteins with improved or altered biophysical properties, and may even allow the generation of proteins with novel functions. 相似文献

There is a great deal of interest in proteins that can bind covalently to target molecules, as they allow unambiguous experiments by tight binding to molecules of interest. Here, we report the generation of proteins that undergo covalent labeling with small molecules through in vitro selection by using ribosome display. Selection was performed from a mutant library of the WW domain with a biotinylated peptide as its binding target, in which the biotin and the peptide are connected by a disulfide bond. After five rounds of selection, we identified mutants carrying a particular cysteine mutation. The binding target reacted specifically with the selected mutant, even in the presence of other proteins, and resulted in the generation of biotin- or peptide-labeled WW domains by thiol-disulfide exchange. When the mutant was fused to a protein of interest, the fusion protein was also labeled with biotin. Thus, the characteristics of the selected mutant should be suitable as a tag sequence that can be covalently labeled with small synthetic molecules. These results indicate that the rapid and efficient generation of such proteins is possible by ribosome display. 相似文献

In this study, polysulfone (PSF) hollow fiber membranes with enhanced performance for humic acid removal were prepared from a dope solution containing PSF/DMAc/PVP/TiO2. The main reason for adding titanium oxide during dope solution preparation was to enhance the antifouling properties of membranes prepared. In the spinning process, air gap distance was varied in order to produce different properties of the hollow fiber membranes. Characterizations were conducted to determine membrane properties such as pure water flux, molecular weight cut off (MWCO), humic acid (HA) rejection and resistance to fouling tendency. The results indicated that the pure water flux and MWCO of membranes increased with an increase in air gap distance while HA retention decreased significantly with increasing air gap. Due to this, it is found that the PSF/TiO2 membrane spun at zero air gap was the best amongst the membranes produced and demonstrated > 90% HA rejection. Analytical results from FESEM and AFM also provided supporting evidence to the experimental results obtained. Based on the anti-fouling performance investigation, it was found that membranes with the addition of TiO2 were excellent in mitigating fouling particularly in reducing the fouling resistances due to concentration polarization, cake layer formation and absorption. 相似文献

Woodceramics are new porous carbon materials, which are made by impregnating woody materials with phenol resin and then thermoformed in a vacuum furnace and these have been shown to have electromagnetic shielding properties. In the recycling of wastepaper, ways of using the wastepaper other than for paper pulp are needed to be developed. In this study, we made Woodceramics from handbill advertisement paper and telephone directory paper, and measured their electromagnetic shielding properties in order to find new uses for wastepaper. The results showed that the Woodceramics made from wastepaper had an electric shielding effectiveness of 30 dB for 100 MHz and 40 to 43 dB for 300 MHz or higher, and had a magnetic shielding effectiveness of 30 dB for 100 MHz and 37 dB for about 400 MHz. An electric equivalent circuit of the pore model in the Woodceramics is introduced. In addition, it is proposed that the excellent electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of the Woodceramics is caused by dielectric loss. 相似文献
