Traditional flood forecasting and operation of reservoirs in China are based on manual calculations by hydrologists or through standalone computer programs. The main drawbacks of these methods are long forecasting time due to time-consuming nature, individual knowledge, lack of communication, absence of experts, etc. A Web-based flood forecasting system (WFFS), which includes five main modules: real-time rainfall data conversion, model-driven hydrologic forecasting, model calibration, precipitation forecasting, and flood analysis, is presented in this paper. The WFFS brings significant convenience to personnel engaged in flood forecasting and control and allows real-time contribution of a wide range of experts at other spatial locations in times of emergency. The conceptual framework and detailed components of the proposed WFFS, which employs a multi-tiered architecture, are illustrated. Multi-tiered architecture offers great flexibility, portability, reusability and reliability. The prototype WFFS has been developed in Java programming language and applied in Shuangpai region with a satisfactory result.  相似文献

In this paper we demonstrate a new method for microfabricating PDMS devices that controls vapour diffusion, thereby reducing water loss at elevated temperatures and greatly increasing the reliability of the PCR. In the past, the vapour and liquid diffusion properties of the PDMS material in microfluidic devices have impaired performance. We show that this water loss is primarily due to vapour diffusion from the PDMS biochip and by implanting a polyethylene vapour barrier layer in the PDMS, the overall fluid loss was almost eliminated (reduced by a factor of 3). We have also developed a procedure to ensure irreversible bonding between the PDMS and the implant. With this improved microfabrication method we demonstrate the feasibility and advantages of performing small volume PCR genetic amplification (i.e. with less than 2 μl of PCR sample) within a PDMS–glass hybrid biochip. Diaphragm pumps and pinch-off valves were integrated in the system and these enabled fluid retention during the amplification stage and will facilitate higher levels of on-chip automation.  相似文献

An anti-windup augmentation technique for active vibration isolation systems is considered in this paper and shown to lead to high-performance vibration isolation through simulations and experiments. First, the anti-windup construction is described and desirable properties of the augmented closed-loop system are illustrated. Then, the anti-windup technique is tested on a simulation example and finally shown to perform excellently on a commercial vibration isolation device: Newport Corporation's Elite 3TM active vibration isolation system which has been patented and is now commercialized with this architecture. Both simulation and experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the anti-windup scheme.  相似文献

The filtration method for the evaluation of the RBC deformability has been further refined to simulate the deformations encountered in the recticuloendothelial system (in particular the spleen), a recognized site of aged and sickled cells removal. The core of the developed measuring system is a very thin (0.4 micron thick) filter that consists of single micropore (diameters down to 1 micron) on a Si3N4 film which has been constructed using silicon microfabrication techniques. Individual RBC's deformability is quantified measuring the cell pore passage time. From one blood sample 200 passage times are analyzed by a computer, displaying mean and median values as deformability indexes, and class and cumulative histograms for studying the passage times distribution. In this paper the effectiveness of the developed system as a routine clinical evaluation tool is demonstrated by studying several factors that are known to affect the RBC deformability, such as temperature, addition of diamide and glutaraldehyde, and blood storage conditions. In addition, it is experimentally demonstrated that the human RBC can traverse a pore with a diameter as small as 1 micron when the pore length is very short, thus broadening the experimental conditions under which the RBC deformability (fluidity) can be studied.  相似文献

We have performed the first principles full-potential linearized augmented plane wave calculations (FP-LAPW) with density functional theory in local density approximations (LDA), in aim to determine and to predict the pressure dependence of structural and optical properties of zinc-blende BeS, BeSe and BeTe compounds. Previous work has considered the use of sliding mode observers for fault detection and isolation (FDI) in uncertain linear systems whereby the unknown faults are reconstructed by appropriate processing of the so-called equivalent output error injection. The paper builds on this work and considers such a scheme within the broader context of fault tolerant control. Specifically, by correcting the faulty measurement by an estimate of the fault obtained from the sliding mode FDI scheme, good closed-loop performance is still maintained. An example of such a scheme, which has been implemented in real-time on a laboratory dc motor rig, is described.  相似文献

A significant aspect in applying the Reflexion Method is the mapping of components found in the source code onto the conceptual components defined in the hypothesized architecture. To date, this mapping is established manually, which requires a lot of work for large software systems. In this paper, we present a new approach, in which clustering techniques are applied to support the user in the mapping activity. The result is a semi-automated mapping technique that accommodates the automatic clustering of the source model with the user’s hypothesized knowledge about the system’s architecture.This paper describes three case studies in which the semi-automated mapping technique, called HuGMe, has been applied successfully to extend a partial map of real-world software applications. In addition, the results of another case study from an earlier publication are summarized, which lead to comparable results. We evaluated the extended versions of two automatic software clustering techniques, namely, MQAttract and CountAttract, with oracle mappings. We closely study the influence of the degree of completeness of the existing mapping and other controlling variables of the technique to make reliable suggestions.Both clustering techniques were able to achieve a mapping quality where more than 90% of the automatic mapping decisions turned out to be correct. Moreover, the experiments indicate that the attraction function (CountAttract′) based on local coupling and cohesion is more suitable for semi-automated mapping than the approach MQAttract′ based on a global assessment of coupling and cohesion.  相似文献

We consider in this paper a WCDMA system with two types of calls: real time (RT) calls that have dedicated resources, and data non-real time (NRT) calls that are treated using a time-shared channel (such as the HDR or the HSDPA). We consider reservation of some resources for the NRT traffic and assume that this traffic is further assigned the resources left over from the RT traffic. The grade of service (GoS) of RT traffic is also controlled in order to allow for handling more RT calls during congestion periods, at the cost of degraded transmission rates. We consider both the downlink (with and without macrodiversity) as well as the uplink and study the blocking probabilities of RT traffic as well as the expected sojourn time of NRT traffic. We further study the conditional expected sojourn time of a data connection given its size and the state of the system. Finally, we extend our framework to handle handover calls.  相似文献
