Host/guest complex of Me-β-CD/2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenyl acetophenone for initiation of aqueous photopolymerization: Kinetics and mechanism

Methylated-β-cyclodextrin (Me-β-CD) was used to complex the photoinitiator, 2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenyl acetophenone (DMPA), yielding a water-soluble host/guest complex. The comparative studies demonstrated that the Me-β-CD complexed DMPA exhibited a high photoreactivity identical to the uncomplexed DMPA, while the CD complex obviously influenced the products of primary photolysis of DMPA and the photopolymerization kinetics due to the steric effect of CD on the subsequent initiation reactions. The photopolymerization rate of acrylamide can be described by the equation: R_p=K[2a]^0.62[M]^1.37[I]^0.5[Me-β-CD]⁰. The mechanism of polymerization was also discussed.

岩石龟裂系数法在火山岩裂缝储集层预测中的应用

 本文针对辽河东部凹陷油燕沟中生界火山岩的具体特征，采用纵波波速的比值——“龟裂系数”裂缝分析法［1,2,3］，研究了火山岩裂隙发育程度。综合龟裂系数裂缝分析及其他方法发现，该区中生界火山岩有效储集层的测井相特征主要表现为低密度、低中子、高声波时差和高伽马值等特征。此法的关键在于根据不同火山岩的岩性，选用合适的岩石骨架参数，在此基础上利用测井约束地震反演计算火山岩的层速度，进而计算出龟裂系数，然后根据已钻至火山岩井孔的测井相特征编制出火山岩预测厚度图。     

磁场和库仑场对量子点中强耦合束缚极化子性质的影响

采用线性组合算符和幺正变换方法研究了磁场和库仑场对半导体量子点中强耦合极化子性质的影响.导出了强耦合束缚磁极化子的振动频率和基态能量与量子点的有效受限长度、库仑束缚势、磁场的回旋共振频率和电子-声子耦合强度的变化关系.数值计算结果表明:强耦合束缚磁极化子的振动频率和基态能量随量子点的有效受限长度的减小而迅速增大,随磁场的回旋共振频率的增加而增大.基态能量随电子-声子耦合强度和库仑束缚势的增加而减少.     

Small volume PCR in PDMS biochips with integrated fluid control and vapour barrier

In this paper we demonstrate a new method for microfabricating PDMS devices that controls vapour diffusion, thereby reducing water loss at elevated temperatures and greatly increasing the reliability of the PCR. In the past, the vapour and liquid diffusion properties of the PDMS material in microfluidic devices have impaired performance. We show that this water loss is primarily due to vapour diffusion from the PDMS biochip and by implanting a polyethylene vapour barrier layer in the PDMS, the overall fluid loss was almost eliminated (reduced by a factor of 3). We have also developed a procedure to ensure irreversible bonding between the PDMS and the implant. With this improved microfabrication method we demonstrate the feasibility and advantages of performing small volume PCR genetic amplification (i.e. with less than 2 μl of PCR sample) within a PDMS–glass hybrid biochip. Diaphragm pumps and pinch-off valves were integrated in the system and these enabled fluid retention during the amplification stage and will facilitate higher levels of on-chip automation.     

Ecosystems as evolutionary complex systems: Network analysis of fitness models

Understanding and managing ecosystems as biocomplex wholes is the compelling scientific challenge of our times. Several different system-theoretic approaches have been proposed to study biocomplexity and two in particular, Kauffman's NK networks and Patten's ecological network analysis, have shown promising results. This research investigates the similarities between these two approaches, which to date have developed separately and independently. Kauffman (1993) has demonstrated that networks of non-equilibrium, open thermodynamic systems can exhibit profound order (subcritical complexity) or profound chaos (fundamental complexity). He uses Boolean NK networks to describe system behavior, where N is the number of nodes in the network and K the number of connections at each node. Ecological network analysis uses a different Boolean network approach in that the pair-wise node interactions in an ecosystem food web are scaled by the throughflow (or storage) to determine the probability of flow along each pathway in the web. These flow probabilities are used to determine system-wide properties of ecosystems such as cycling index, indirect-to-direct effects ratio, and synergism. Here we modify the NK model slightly to develop a fitness landscape of interacting species and calculate how the network analysis properties change as the model's species coevolve. We find that, of the parameters considered, network synergism increases modestly during the simulation whereas the other properties generally decrease. Furthermore, we calculate several ecosystem level goal functions and compare their progression during increasing fitness and determine that at least at this stage there is not a good correspondence between the reductionistic and holistic drivers for the system. This research is largely a proof of concept test and will lay the foundation for future integration and model scenario analysis between two important network techniques.     

Effects of EGb 761 on nitric oxide and oxygen free radicals, myocardial damage and arrhythmia in ischemia-reperfusion injury in vivo

The cardioprotective effects of EGb 761 on the release of nitric oxide (NO), the concentration of serum thiobarbituric acid reaction substance (TBARS), the activity of creatine kinase (CK) and the incidence of ventricular arrhythmias were investigated in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in vivo. Using sodium nitrite (NaNO2) as standard source of nitric oxide (NO), we compared the correlation coefficients of the three measuring methods used currently in the determination of NOFe2+(DETC)2 complex with that of the measuring method suggested in this study. The result showed that measuring the whole height of three splitting signals is the best linear correlation to the concentration of NO comparing with other methods in this system. Using this method, we observed the effects of EGb 761 on NOFe2+(DETC)2 complex in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in vivo. The hearts of the Wistar rats were subjected to 30 min of ischemia and 10 min of reperfusion in vivo. Different doses of EGb 761 (25, 50, 100, 200 mg/kg i.p.), superoxide dismutase (SOD, 10(4) U/kg), l-arginine (50 mg/kg i.p.) and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibitor NG-nitro-l-arginine (NNA, 50 mg/kg i.p.) were administered to the ischemia-reperfusion rats. EGb 761 under the dose of 100 mg/kg increased the signal intensity of NOFe2+(DETC)2 complex, while EGb 761 at 200 mg/kg showed an effect of decreasing the signal intensity of NOFe2+(DETC)2 complex. EGb 761 inhibited the formation of TBARS, the release of CK, and mitigated the incidence of ventricular arrhythmias in a dose dependent way. Both l-arginine and SOD increased the signal intensity of NOFe2+(DETC)2 complex and inhibited the formation of TBARS, the leakage of CK and the incidence of ventricular arrhythmia. NNA not only had no protective effects on myocardial injury, but also increased the incidence of reperfusion-induced arrhythmia. In conclusion, EGb 761 has cardiovascular protective effects by means of adjusting the level of NO and inhibiting oxygen free radicals induced lipid peroxidation in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in vivo.     

基于遥感案例推理的海岸带养殖信息提取

目前基于目视解释或光谱分类的养殖信息提取效率低,难以克服由于地物混杂带来的“椒盐”噪声现象且难以融合地学知识。针对养殖信息提取中存在的问题,首先在分析现有养殖信息提取方法和案例推理CBR(Case\|Based Reasoning)用于遥感图像处理的基础上,提出基于遥感案例推理的海岸带养殖信息提取的研究思路;其次,结合养殖区域的空间特征和属性特征,构建案例的表达模型以及CBR相似性推理模型;最后,对不属于案例构建区的粤西沙田镇进行养殖信息提取的CBR实验,精度达到84.56%。对比CBR方法和传统监督分类方法可知,CBR方法是实现海岸带养殖信息快速准确提取的一种有效手段。
