Interaction energy evaluation of soluble microbial products (SMP) on different membrane surfaces: role of the reconstructed membrane topology 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Soluble microbial products (SMP), a majority of organic matter in effluents, play a key role in membrane fouling. A series of filtration experiments were conducted, and demonstrated that the flux decrement rate was in order of cellulose acetate membrane (CA, 65.4%), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF, 47.9%) and polyether sulfones (PES, 29.2%). Results showed that the fouling behavior of membrane should be predicted from the combined knowledge of solution chemistry, surface chemical properties and surface morphology. To better understand the interactions between the SMP and different membranes, a technique for reconstructing the membrane surface topology was developed on the basis of statistical parameters obtained from atomic force microscopy. The interaction energy, represented by extended Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (XDLVO) potential, was calculated by surface element integration, allowing exploring the interaction energy profiles for different surfaces and providing considerable insights into the role of such interactions on the macroscopic fouling behavior. The resulting interaction energy differed considerably from the corresponding interaction between perfectly smooth surfaces. The great influence of protrusion on the membrane surface was to reduce the primary energy barrier height, thus rendering rough surface more favorable for deposition. An attractive energy region was immediately surrounded by each positive asperity as demonstrated in the roughness-engendered interaction energy maps. As the SMP approached closer to the membrane, they had a high probability of getting trapped in the attractive energy region, leading to a more rapid loss of flux than smooth membrane. 相似文献

The properties of thin CdSe films made by the tarnishing reaction of selenium vapour on cadmium are described. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray crystallographic and semiconductor photoelectrochemical data were obtained for these films. Depending on the preparation of the substrate, highly oriented polycrystalline films can be prepared. The unstable cubic form of CdSe exists as a transition layer between hexagonal cadmium and hexagonal CdSe. Impurities in the cadmium and the selenium appear to be rejected from CdSe, as the measured donor densities in the semiconducting films are very low and independent of the cadmium and selenium purities.There is evidence that the donor density is not uniform in these films. This is inferred from the fact that good Mott-Schottky plots can be obtained from impedance measurements of the film-electrolyte junction, whilst the grain size is incompatible with such an observation. It is suggested that the hexagonal phase of the CdSe is intrinsic and that the cubic phase is doped by non-stoichiometry. 相似文献

The Monte Carlo simulation method is employed to determine the Cowley-Warren short range order parameters for the first twelve nearest-neighbor shells on the Ising model relevant to CuAu. The Monte Carlo results are used to determine the free parameter in a mean-field-like class of theories described by Clapp and Moss. The ability of these theories to predict ratios between pair potentials is tested with our results. While the manufacturing industry in Europe is looking at Industry 4.0 approaches and technologies to maintain the current competitive advantage, on the other hand, in the building industry (BI) they may push an improvement of the overall productivity also. This paper presents a research activity, which has aimed at investigating potentials and criticisms of Parametric and Generative Design techniques in mass-production environments of the BI though a pilot-case-study analysis in Glued-Laminated-Timber (GLT) industry. Starting from programming a parametric algorithm for GLT engineering, the research has measured manufacturing effectiveness and manufacturing efficiency through a Value-Stream Map of an ordinary supply-chain system of GLT. Considering all the limits of referring to a single case study, results highlight improvements both in manufacturing effectiveness and manufacturing efficiency; but limitations have to be considered as well, due to the complete absence of Industry 4.0 approaches and technologies in an ordinary supply-chain system of GLT. 相似文献
