This paper investigates the effect of heating or cooling from below on the development of gravitactic bioconvection in a square enclosure with stress free sidewalls. The governing equations are the Navier–Stokes equations with the Boussinesq approximation, the diffusion equation for the motile microorganism and the energy equation for the temperature. The control volume method is used to solve numerically the complete set of governing equations. It was found that the suspension is destabilized by heating from below and stabilized by cooling from below. A transition from a subcritical bifurcation to a supercritical bifurcation was observed in the case of heating from below when the thermal Rayleigh number was increased. 相似文献

The formation of NOX in counterflow n-heptane/air triple flames was investigated by numerical simulation. Detailed chemistry and complex thermal and transport properties were employed. The results indicate that a triple flame produces more NO and NO2 than the corresponding premixed flames due to not only the appearance of the diffusion flame but also the interaction between different flame branches. The relative contributions of different routes to NO formation in the premixed flame branches change with the variation of the equivalence ratio, but the thermal mechanism always dominates in the diffusion flame branch. The interaction between flame branches is enhanced with the decrease of the distance between them. Both heat and radical exchange between flame branches contribute to the interaction. A new feature that does not exist in methane/air triple flame was observed in n-heptane/air triple flames, i.e. when the rich mixture equivalence ratio is higher, there are two peaks of CH concentration on the rich side of the diffusion flame branch, which leads to that some NO is formed beside the diffusion flame branch by the prompt route. 相似文献

An yttria-stabilized zirconia powder, free of monoclinic phase, may be prepared by an oxalate method in an ethanol solution at strong acidity. This study demonstrates that the control of pH in the preparation of precursors has a significant effect on the ability of precursors to crystallize and hence plays an important role in determining the formation and fraction of various crystalline phases in the resulting yttria-stabilized zirconia powder. With the increase of pH, a precursor with a certain crystalline form may be transformed into an amorphous precursor, and a monoclinic phase appers in the phase composition of the resulting powder. The results of XRD analysis and Raman spectroscopy are discussed. 相似文献

The motion equations governing the dynamical behavior of a viscoelasticTimoshenko beam with finite deformation are derived and simplified byGalerkin method. The viscoelastic material is assumed to obey thethree-dimensional fractional derivative constitutive relation. Thedynamical behaviors of the simplified systems with order 1 and order 2are numerically computed and compared by using the computational methodpresented by the authors. The dynamical behaviors of the systems areuniform qualitatively, but there is a little deviation quantitatively.And the truncated system with order 1 is safer than the one of order 2.It is also shown that the lower order system is reasonable. Theinfluences of the load parameter and the fractional derivative parameter(material parameter) on the deflection of the beam are consideredrespectively. The numerical methods in nonlinear dynamics, such as phasediagram, and Poincaré section, are applied to reveal dynamical behaviorsof the nonlinear viscoelastic Timoshenko beam. The electrochemistry of zirconium has been explored in borate buffer solution of pH = 6.94 at 250 °C with and without hydrogen by measuring the current, impedance, and capacitance as a function of potential. Data are interpreted in terms of modified point defect models (PDM) that recognize the existence of a thick oxide outer layer over a thin barrier layer. From thermodynamic analysis, it is postulated that a hydride barrier layer forms under PWR coolant conditions whereas an oxide barrier layer forms under BWR primary coolant conditions. Thus, the introduction of hydrogen into the solution lowers the corrosion potential of zirconium to the extent that the formation of ZrH2 is predicted to be spontaneous rather than the ZrO2. Mott–Schottky analysis shows that the passive film formed on zirconium is n-type, which is consistent with the PDM, corresponding to a preponderance of oxygen/hydrogen vacancies and/or zirconium interstitials in the barrier layer. 相似文献
