Two phase natural convection: CFD simulations and PIV measurement   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Buoyancy induced flow and heat transfer are important phenomena in a wide range of engineering systems e.g. electronics and photovoltaics cooling, thermosiphon heat exchangers, solar-thermal heat absorbers, passive decay heat removal systems, etc. Such systems are subject to thermal stratification. The objective of the present work is to study the single phase and two phase (boiling) natural convection accompanied by thermal stratification. We carried out velocity and temperature measurements in a rectangular tank (0.8×0.6×0.6 m3) fitted with (a) a central tube, and (b) a 10 tube assembly; which form the heat transfer surface. Flows were measured using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). Additionally, computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulations of these systems were performed: first with an assumption of no-boiling (i.e. no phase change) near the heat transfer surfaces; for which we used the open source CFD code OpenFOAM-1.6. For two phase simulations, we used the boiling model of Ganguli et al. (2010) and carried out simulations using the commercial software FLUENT 6.3. The extent of stratification and mixing has been investigated for a range of Rayleigh numbers from 4.34×1011 to 2.59×1014. The flow information obtained from PIV was analyzed for insights into the dynamics of turbulent flow structures. We used the signal processing technique of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for this purpose. From the analysis, we were able to estimate the size, velocity and energy distribution of turbulent structures in our flows. This information was used to estimate wall heat transfer coefficients. A good agreement was observed between the predicted and the experimental values of heat transfer coefficients.  相似文献

Homogenous oil in water dispersion has been investigated in a horizontal pipe. The mean droplet size is 25 μm. Experiments were carried out in a 7.5‐m‐long transparent pipe of 50‐mm internal diameter. The wall friction has been measured and modeled for a wide range of flow parameters, mixture velocities ranging from 0.28 to 1.2 m/s, and dispersed phase volume fractions up to 0.6, including turbulent, intermediate, and laminar regimes. Flow regimes have been identified from velocity profiles measured by particle image velocimetry in a matched refractive index medium. It is shown that the concept of effective viscosity is relevant to scale the friction at the wall of the dispersed flow. Based on mixture properties, the friction factor follows the Hagen‐Poiseuille and the Blasius' law in laminar and turbulent regimes, respectively. Interestingly, the transition toward turbulence is delayed as the dispersed phase fraction is increased. © 2010 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 2011  相似文献

基于上海交通大学高超创新实验室现有技术,为发展高速PIV技术而改进开发了高速PIV粒子布撒系统。针对原有系统经常无法有效布撒粒子的缺陷,从系统中的管道、高压气体、喷嘴等几个方向下手进行改造,设计了新的高速PIV粒子布撒系统。对管道进行了软管化设计,高压气体采用干燥的氮气,喷嘴则设计成能在罐体中产生旋流的结构。对于这些改造进行了分析和实验测试,证明了这些改造能加强布撒粒子的效果。最后提出了这套系统可以继续改进的一些方向。  相似文献

We investigate the fluid mechanics of cleaning viscous drops attached to a flat inclined surface using thin gravity-driven film flows. We focus on the case where the drop cannot be detached either partially or completely from the surface by the mechanical forces exerted by the cleaning fluid on the drop surface. Instead a convective mass transfer establishes across the drop–film interface and the fluid in the drop dissolves into the cleaning film flow, which then transports it away. The characteristic time scale of dissolution is much longer than the advection time scale in the film flow. Thus, the shape and size of the drop can be considered as quasi-steady. To assess the impact of the shape and size of the drop on the velocity of the cleaning fluid, we have developed a novel experimental technique based on particle image velocimetry. We show the velocity distribution at the film surface in the situations both where the film is flowing over a smooth surface, and where it is perturbed by a solid obstacle representing a very viscous drop. We find that at intermediate Reynolds numbers the acceleration of the starting film is overestimated by a plane model using the lubrication approximation. In the perturbed case, the streamwise velocity is strongly affected by the presence of the obstacle. The upstream propagation of the disturbance is limited, but the disturbance extends downstream for distances larger than 10 obstacle diameters. Laterally, we observe small disturbances in both the streamwise and lateral velocities, owing to stationary capillary waves. The flow also exhibits a complex three-dimensional converging pattern immediately below the obstacle.  相似文献

在自建的冷态横流-旋流喷雾两相掺混系统实验台上,采用PIV测量了掺混通道内气液两相掺混过程中液滴群的运动特性,获得了掺混流场中不同位置的液滴分布图像与流场结构特性。实验段结构为方腔(横截面尺寸为95 mm×95 mm),喷嘴采用空心锥形雾化喷嘴。对影响掺混效果的主要参数(横流速度、喷嘴雾化压力、喷嘴雾化粒径)进行了详细研究,绘出了最佳掺混效果下各参数关系曲线。掺混过程主要受不同尺度的旋涡结构影响,液滴多富集于旋涡边缘,稳定的大尺度涡不利于掺混。提高掺混效果的途径即是避免流场中出现稳定的大尺度旋涡结构,采用喷嘴前倾布置、增加喷嘴个数、确定合适的横流速度均是提高掺混效果的有效途径。分析方法与研究结果为工程实际应用中掺混室结构的设计及掺混性能的改进提供了依据和参考。  相似文献

介绍了FJC系列煤用喷射式浮选机核心部件充气搅拌装置的结构特点及工作原理;利用射流理论分析了充气搅拌装置内流体状态,并通过粒子图像测速(PIV)试验,分析了喉管内流体的速度矢量分布和涡量分布情况,证明充气搅拌装置内流体运动符合有限空间射流运动,同时还存在回流区,致使喉管内能量损失严重。  相似文献

搅拌釜内的物料混合是一个有限空间中的复杂非定常湍流问题,且常伴有强烈的传质、传热乃至反应过程。搅拌混合过程中影响因素多,理论分析难度大,实验获取搅拌釜内整场流动信息是其机理研究和搅拌混合设备优化设计的重要手段。本文归纳了在搅拌混合研究中传统流动测量技术的应用,分析其各自优缺点,着重探讨了新一代全场光学测速技术——粒子图像速度场仪(PIV)在搅拌混合实验中的应用,指出PIV在搅拌混合研究中具有广泛应用前景。PIV具有很高的空间分辨率和时间解析度,可以得到搅拌釜中混合流体的瞬时2D或3D速度场以及浓度场和温度场等信息,进行非定常湍流特性研究,有助于建立搅拌釜内多相流动模型,验证数值模拟结果,实现搅拌釜的优化设计,从而促进化工搅拌技术的进一步发展。  相似文献

Paraffinic crude oils in pipelines may form waxy gels during flow shutdowns. These gels can be dislodged by applying pressure if the wall shear stress, proportional to the local pressure gradient, exceeds the gel yield stress. The simplest models assume that the axial pressure profile becomes linear immediately after a jump in upstream pressure, but this fails to account for gel time‐dependent rheology or the effect of gel voids on pressure wave propagation. To investigate the former factor, pressure profile and particle imaging velocimetry (PIV) measurements were performed on a model oil gelled under pressure to reduce void formation. After a jump in upstream pressure to a value insufficient to restart flow, the axial pressure profile becomes linear in a two‐step process, with an immediate small rise in downstream pressure followed by a time‐delayed jump. The local downstream gel deformation measured by PIV exhibits similar two‐step time dependence. © 2011 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 2012  相似文献

通过粒子图像测速流场实验与传热实验相结合,研究了内插螺旋立式上行管的螺旋节距、丝径、中径比等结构参数在不同Re下对流场、阻力及传热性能的影响。结果表明,内插螺旋能够有效扰动和混合管内流体,使管内形成多个纵向旋涡的流体结构、增大管壁附近液体涡量,有利于强化传热。当Re相同时,管内平均流速v、Nu和综合换热性能PEC均随丝径增大而增大,随中径比减小而增大;随节距增大,3种参数均出现增大的趋势,节距大于20 mm后开始减小。管内流体的阻力f随丝径和节距增大而减小,随中径比增大而增大。综合比较,在较低Re时,节距p=20 mm、丝径e=1.6 mm、中径比D/d=0.75时综合传热效果最好。  相似文献

采用VOF模型对正弦波纹式入口挡板的重力非均相沉降器内流场进行数值模拟研究。对比了正弦波纹挡板与平挡板的平均流场分布情况,分析了沉降器的轴向流速均一程度(λ1)随时间演化特性,探究了λ1和面积加权平均湍流强度(Ia)在沉降器内空间分布特性;引入流场均稳指标USC,研究了冲击间距(Lb/D)对USC的影响。结果表明:正弦波纹挡板作为入口构件可以有效降低返混。在0.84b/D减小,平挡板沉降器内流场的λ1基本不变,但正弦波纹挡板沉降器内流场的λ1降低,且对Ia的影响不明显。对比平挡板,正弦波纹挡板可以有效降低轴向速度的梯度,使返混区面积减小,流场稳定性提高。随着Lb/D增加,USC值呈现多峰值趋势,Lb/D=2.17时正弦波纹板沉降器的USC取得极大值为14.68,较平挡板提高了...  相似文献
