Race as a moderator in a model of sexual harassment: An empirical test.

L. F. Fitzgerald, C. L. Hulin. and F. Drasgow (1995) proposed that victim characteristics, such as race, might moderate the relationships between sexual harassment and its job, psychological, and health status outcomes. This study describes 2 theoretical positions, tokenism and double jeopardy, that could account for this possible moderation by race, as well as the alternative view that no moderating effects exist. The effects of race are empirically examined through simultaneous path analysis. Results indicate that whereas, mean levels of harassment differ across race, the phenomenon of sexual harassment unfolds similarly across races; race is not a moderator of the relationships between sexual harassment and the variables proposed as its antecedents and outcomes. Generalized null space uncorrelated Fisher discriminant analysis for linear dimensionality reduction

We propose a generalized null space uncorrelated Fisher discriminant analysis (GNUFDA) technique integrating the uncorrelated discriminant analysis and weighted pairwise Fisher criterion. The GNUFDA can effectively deal with the small sample-size problem and perform satisfactorily when the dimensionality of the null space decreases with increase in the number of training samples per class and/or classes, C. The proposed GNUFDA can extract at most C-1 optimal uncorrelated discriminative vectors without being influenced by the null-space dimensionality.

Careful combination of a metal compound,a ligand and an inorganic support material leads to supramolecular catalysts that mimic the structural, organizational and functional aspects of enzyme activity.After discussing essential features of metalloenzyme-catalyzed reactions and coordination chemistry in inorganic hosts, we present examples of supramolecular materials selected from our own work that eventually resulted in useful catalysts for organic transformations in the liquid phase.

Conductor design with high-Tc superconducting Bi(Pb)—2223/Ag multifilamentary tapes

With high upper critical fields, high temperature superconductors (HTSC) have been recognised as candidate materials for coil and magnet applications. High field devices, at one time or another, when operated close to their rated limits are often faced with instability problems which normally are electrical, magnetic or mechanical in nature. The determination of stability parameters, therefore, is of interest to the conductor designer which very much assists in the processing aspect of long length production of wires and tapes. Due to the morphology of the superconductor most HTSC devices made with Bi(Pb)—2223 precursor exist in tape form. Here the determination of stability parameters (for flux-jump and cryogenic stability) for multifilamentary Bi(Pb)—2223/Ag tapes are presented. Processing parameters such as intermediate deformation and filling factors have been found to play a crucial role, not only on the critical current density of the tapes but on the stability aspect in conductor design as well.
