An Exploration Of The Relationship Between Changing Inequality Of Individual,Household And Regional Inequality In Australian Cities

The changes in neighbourhood income inequality noted in Gregory and Hunter (1995) indicate that significant changes in the nature of Australian cities have occurred since the mid-1970s. This paper seeks to establish that the regional dimension of income inequality is becoming a more important component of overall inequality. Furthermore, low status and high status areas are becoming increasingly homogenous with more low income households living together in low status neighbourhoods and higher income households living elsewhere. The inadequacies of the regional income data currently available means that it is difficult to explore changes in social welfare in any detail.

Self-Conditional Probabilities and Probabilistic Interpretations of Belief Functions

We present an interpretation of belief functions within a pure probabilistic framework, namely as normalized self-conditional expected probabilities, and study their mathematical properties. Interpretations of belief functions appeal to partial knowledge. The self-conditional interpretation does this within the traditional probabilistic framework by considering surplus belief in an event emerging from a future observation, conditional on the event occurring. Dempster's original interpretation, in contrast, involves partial knowledge of a belief state. The modal interpretation, currently gaining popularity, models the probability of a proposition being believed (or proved, or known). The versatility of the belief function formalism is demonstrated by the fact that it accommodates very different intuitions.

Reports errors in the original article by D. Pingitore et al (Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, 2001, Vol 32[6], 597-606). In the first paragraph on page 601, lines 5-10 should read: "Net income for psychologists aged 40-54 years was significantly greater than for psychologists 39 years and younger (pt test for income differences by age group should be pp>.05). (The following abstract of this article originally appeared in record 2001-05464-006.) Data from the 2000 California Survey of Psychological Practice (D. Pingitore, R. Scheffler, M. Haley, T. Sentell, & D. Schwalm, 2001) were used to measure psychologists' income variation associated with demographic characteristics, managed care participation rate, and mental health workforce supply concentrations. A 10% increase in the supply of psychologists in a psychologists' market of practice resulted in a $1,749 reduction in income compared with a $1,330 income reduction due to a 10% increase in managed care participation... Impacts on Children of a Policy to Promote Employment and Reduce Poverty for Low-Income Parents: New Hope After 5 Years.

The impacts of New Hope, a program to increase parent employment and reduce poverty, were measured 5 years after parents were randomly assigned to program or control groups. New Hope had positive effects on children's school achievement, motivation, and social behavior, primarily for boys, across the age range 6-16. In comparison to impacts measured 2 years after program onset, effects on achievement were robust, but effects on social behavior were reduced. The program produced improvements in family income and use of organized child care and activity settings, suggesting possible pathways by which the New Hope package of policies influenced children's behavior. 太原市城市居民水价的经济学分析及应用

从经济学的角度论证了水价作为主要的经济杠杆对水资源的优化配置可以起到的重要作用，并且结合太原市的实际情况，综合需求价格弹性、收入、平均用水量等指标，对太原市水价提出了一个递增式计量水价收费模型，旨在提高人们节约用水的意识，进而缓解太原市水资源短缺的问题。     

石油企业内部储量产量一体化收益分配方法初探

尽管我国多次要求石油企业加大矿权流转力度,但是在企业内部储量产量一体化管理、储量内部流转时,仍缺乏配套的收益分配机制。为加强石油企业储量内部流转,激励流转双方勘探开发全过程降本,完善储量流转制度,本文分析了国际储量交易形式及收益分配方法,明确了储量价值内涵及测算方法,并初步探索了收益分配的"流转价格法""绩效考核法""利润分成法"三种方法。利用这三种方法对某试点Z区块进行收益分配实例测算,其中,"流转价格法"最为公允但需承担储量价值不确定风险,"绩效考核法"容易被接受但激励作用不足,"利润分成法"最为准确但周期长、操作复杂,在实际操作中,企业可以根据自身特点选择其一或结合使用。
