Assumptions and Consequences of Treating Providers in Therapy Studies as Fixed Versus Random Effects: Reply to Crits-Christoph, Tu, and Gallop (2003) and Serlin, Wampold, and Levin (2003).

In their comments on the authors' article (see record 2003-10163-009), R. C. Serlin, B. E. Wampold, and J. R. Levin (see record 2003-10163-011) and P. Crits-Christoph, X. Tu, and R. Gallop (see record 2003-10163-010) took issue with the authors' suggestion to evaluate therapy studies with nested providers with a fixed model approach. In this rejoinder, the authors' comment on Serlin et al's critique by showing that their arguments do not apply, are based on misconceptions about the purpose and nature of statistical inference, or are based on flawed reasoning. The authors also comment on Crits-Christoph et al's critique by showing that the proposed approach is very similar to, but less inclusive than, their own suggestion. 非洲不同类型的沉积盆地主要可归纳为：古、中生代挠曲盆地，中、新生代大陆边缘断陷盆地，板内裂谷盆地和大陆边缘进积三角洲盆地。通过盆地油气成藏条件地质综合评价、不同勘探阶段的类比和最终勘探潜力分析，对非洲的沉积盆地进行了划分，在此基础上，总结出非洲油气勘探区选择应遵循的原则。对于油气勘探长期战略选区，原则上，优选低成本油气远景区，即使存在高风险，但亦可获得高回报；对于油气勘探中期发展策略选区，应该寻找地质条件好的油气资源区，投资中短期高利润项目；对于油气勘探中短期发展策略选区，一般应优选中低成本、低风险、低利润且短期能获得油气发现和勘探突破的有利油气勘探区。图1表3参5

Multi-heuristic scheduling: three approaches to tune compromises

Most of the available industrial schedulers are based on a simulation approach using dispatching rules. These rules are often dedicated to the satisfaction of a single performance criterion, and are used whatever the characteristics of the workshop or of the set of jobs. An approach which allows one to bring in compromises between rules is set out in this paper. These compromises can be parametered in accordance with the objectives of the workshop and the characteristics of the jobs in order to introduce some reactivity in the decision system. Three ways to set up the parameters are compared: experimental design, fuzzy expert system and neural network. The method allowing one to define compromises can be implemented on each scheduler that uses a simulation approach. Tests have been made with an industrial scheduler called SIPAPLUS, the results of which are developed in this paper.

An empirical investigation of competency factors affecting e-business success in European SMEs

In the last decade there was growing interest in strategic management literature about factors that influence a company's ability to use IT. There is general consensus that knowledge and competency are necessary in developing an IT capability, but there is very little understanding of what the necessary competencies are, and how they influence IS usage in different contexts. The small and medium-sized enterprise context is particularly interesting for two reasons: it constitutes a major part of the economy and it has been relatively unsuccessful in exploiting e-business.
