Comparison of finite element reliability methods

The spectral stochastic finite element method (SSFEM) aims at constructing a probabilistic representation of the response of a mechanical system, whose material properties are random fields. The response quantities, e.g. the nodal displacements, are represented by a polynomial series expansion in terms of standard normal random variables. This expansion is usually post-processed to obtain the second-order statistical moments of the response quantities. However, in the literature, the SSFEM has also been suggested as a method for reliability analysis. No careful examination of this potential has been made yet. In this paper, the SSFEM is considered in conjunction with the first-order reliability method (FORM) and with importance sampling for finite element reliability analysis. This approach is compared with the direct coupling of a FORM reliability code and a finite element code. The two procedures are applied to the reliability analysis of the settlement of a foundation lying on a randomly heterogeneous soil layer. The results are used to make a comprehensive comparison of the two methods in terms of their relative accuracies and efficiencies.

Effect-Size Indices for Dichotomized Outcomes in Meta-Analysis.

It is very common to find meta-analyses in which some of the studies compare 2 groups on continuous dependent variables and others compare groups on dichotomized variables. Integrating all of them in a meta-analysis requires an effect-size index in the same metric that can be applied to both types of outcomes. In this article, the performance in terms of bias and sampling variance of 7 different effect-size indices for estimating the population standardized mean difference from a 2 × 2 table is examined by Monte Carlo simulation, assuming normal and nonnormal distributions. The results show good performance for 2 indices, one based on the probit transformation and the other based on the logistic distribution. Reliability of structures in high dimensions, part I: algorithms and applications

The present paper is concerned with the estimation of structural reliability when a large number of random variables is present. A sampling technique which uses lines in order to probe the failure domain, is presented. The latter is employed in conjunction with a stepwise procedure which makes use of Markov Chains. The resulting algorithm exhibits accelerated convergence.     

根据过采样和求均值理论提高ADC 测量分辨率

8bit嵌入式单片机系统A／D变换的两个关键指标是有效分辨率和信噪比(SNR)。通过对过采样(Over sample)和求均值(Average)理论的分析，得出“对噪声源的特性为白噪声的信号，每增加一位分辨率可以通过用4倍的过采样频率进行采样来达到。而分辨率每增加一位将使SNR增加6dB”的结论。进而采用8bit徽处理器内嵌12bit ADC成功实现了16bit ADC的精度,即小数点后两位(25．99℃)的温度测量，和小数点后四位(2．4299 V)的直流电压测量．     

一种便于观测的信号抽样及复原方法

利用倍频器，将重复频率与连续信号ｔ（ｔ）的频率相同的方波进行若干次倍频后，对连续信号进行抽样，从而获得离散的抽样信号ｆｓ（ｔ），再利用有源低通滤波器使其复原成连续信号ｆ（ｔ）。避免了一般抽样器不便于观测的缺点。     

陀螺的多变量测试,相关分析和系统辨识

本文通过对陀螺内部的某些状态变量和有关的环境变量与陀螺输出量进行同步测试,然后对采集的数据进行统计性预处理和相关性分析,最后利用相关函数进行误差响应模型辨识,从而找出它们与陀螺漂移的关系,为进一步提高陀螺的精度提供依据。
