Critical, or national, information infrastructure protection, referred to as either CIIP or NIIP, has been highlighted as a critical factor in overall national security by the United States, the United Kingdom, India and the European Community. As nations move inexorably towards so-called ‘digital economies’, critical infrastructure depends on information systems to process, transfer, store and exchange information through the Internet. Electronic attacks such as denial of service attacks on critical information infrastructures challenge the law and raise concerns. A myriad of issues potentially plague the protection of critical information infrastructures owing to the lack of legal regulation aimed at ensuring the protection of critical information infrastructures. This paper will highlight the legal concerns that relate to the denial of service attacks on critical information infrastructures and provide an introductory overview of the law as it relates to CIIP in Australia. 相似文献

Determination of deformation modulus and coefficient of subgrade reaction of soils have major importance, whether the projects are in design, and construction or compaction assessment stage of earth filling structures. Plate load test is one of the frequently used method to directly determine the parameters but the method is both costly and time consuming. For this reason, this paper is concerned with the applications of artificial neural networks (ANN) and simple-multiple regression analysis to predict deformation modulus and coefficient of subgrade reaction of compacted soils from compaction parameters (such as maximum dry density (MDD) and optimum moisture content (OMC), field dry density (FDD), and field moisture content (FMC)). Regression analysis and artificial neural network estimation indicated that there are acceptable correlations between deformation modulus and coefficient of subgrade reaction and these parameters. Artificial neural networks model exhibits higher performance than traditional statistical model for predicting deformation modulus and coefficient of subgrade reaction. 相似文献

Terminal assignment problem (TEAP) is to determine minimum cost links to form a network by connecting a given set of terminals to a given collection of concentrators. This paper presents a novel discrete particle swarm optimization (PSO) based on estimation of distribution (EDA), named DPSO-EDA, for TEAP. EDAs sample new solutions from a probability model which characterizes the distribution of promising solutions in the search space at each generation. The DPSO-EDA incorporates the global statistical information collected from personal best solutions of all particles into the PSO, and therefore each particle has comprehensive learning and search ability. In the DPSO-EDA, a modified constraint handling method based on Hopfield neural network (HNN) is also introduced to fit nicely into the framework of the PSO and thus utilize the merit of the PSO. The DPSO-EDA adopts the asynchronous updating scheme. Further, the DPSO-EDA is applied to a problem directly related to TEAP, the task assignment problem (TAAP), in order to show that the DPSO-EDA can be generalized to other related combinatorial optimization problems. This paper presents the use of mesoporous silica skeletons as substrates for electroosmotic (EO) micropumps. Mesoporous silica skeletons have bimodal pore size distributions consisting of macropores and cation-permselective mesopores. These materials have the potential for high flow rate per power because the cation-permselective mesopores can generate an induced charge layer (ICL) and electroosmosis of the second kind (EO-2) under high applied electric fields. The diffuse charge layers induced by the electric field result in an EO-2 flow rate that increases quadratically with increasing electric field. In contrast, the flow rate of the more common electroosmosis of the first kind (EO-1) is linearly proportional to electric field. Here, we investigate the impact of finite pressure loads on the EO-2 flow rate with experiments and an engineering model to evaluate the potential of mesoporous skeletons for micropumping applications. Our results include analyses of maximum flow rate, maximum pressure, and flow rate with intermediate pressure loads. The results indicate the existence of a critical pressure load at which reverse pressure-driven flow significantly diminishes the EO-2 flow. We also investigate the scaling of flow rate per power with respect to substrate thickness and area, demonstrating significant increases in flow rate per power with thinner substrates and favorable scaling for miniaturization of EO-2 pumps. 相似文献

A prospective design was applied to examine how older adults would adapt stairway intervention stimuli to gait patterns during stairway descent to prevent falls. Ambient lighting and an auditory signal were used as stairway intervention stimuli. The gait pattern changes with and without stimuli were compared. No significant change of angular displacement was found between normal condition and intervention conditions under daylight and nightlight. The lighting intervention tended to increase the knee's angular velocity for both daylight and nightlight conditions, but not the ankle's angular velocity. However, adding the auditory signal to the lighting intervention under nightlight condition increased the ankle's angular velocity. Under the daylight condition, every intervention was significantly helpful to make people step on the floor more confidently compared to the condition without interventions. However, the intervention of lighting had an opposite effect on the confidence of stepping under the nightlight condition. The intervention of lighting may contribute to increase of confidence during stair descent while compromising the declined stride length in older adults and the potential “rush” factor for falls on stairs. 相似文献
