Probing the Vorticity in a Superconductor Rapidly Quenched from the Normal State

Topological defects such as vortices subsist for some time in a rapidly frozen superconducting film (W. H. Zurek, Phys. Rep. 276, 177, 1996). We propose to use as a probe of the vortex density the finite delay T _d, which, in narrow strips, exists between a current step and the voltage response. Technically, this amounts to driving a bridge into the localized hot-spot regime by means of a pump pulse (laser or electrical). Cooling of such films as epitaxial YBCO-on-MgO, or niobium-on-sapphire, requires only a few nanoseconds at low T. A time t later, a probe pulse is applied to measure T _d. The dependence t T _d is interpreted as a witness of the fossil vorticity, long after quenching into the zero-resistance regime.     

Vehicle-command center communications in a robotic vehicle system

The U.S. Army Laboratory Command is developing a testbed for cooperative, real-lime control of multiple land vehicles from a remotely located command center. The system requires the development and integration of a variety of elements which allow the vehicles to perform autonomously and under supervisory and teleoperated control. The National Institute of Standards and Technology is supporting this program by designing the overall system control architecture based on experience gained in developing hierarchial control systems in robotics and automated manufacturing. This paper analyzes the characteristics of the communication link between the vehicle and the remote command center. Areas addressed include the communication technology, the information content and required rates, the control system communication requirements, communications support of the development effort and examination of available standards.     

Computing suffix links for suffix trees and arrays

We present a new and simple algorithm to reconstruct suffix links in suffix trees and suffix arrays. The algorithm is based on observations regarding suffix tree construction algorithms. With our algorithm we bring suffix arrays even closer to the ease of use and implementation of suffix trees.     

Developing Biotechnology Clusters in Non-high Technology Regions—The Case of Austria

This paper explores the role of distant knowledge links and policy actions for the development of biotechnology clusters. It seeks to challenge the prevailing view that the birth and early development of high technology industries are always spontaneous phenomena which are mainly based on local knowledge. Departing from the theoretical concept of regional innovation systems (RIS), a distinction between “RIS with strong potentials for high technology industries” and “RIS with weak potentials for high technology industries” will be drawn. It will be argued that in the latter case the development of biotechnology clusters is more dependent on distant knowledge sources and proactive policy efforts to create a favourable environment for high technology activities. Furthermore, it will be shown that a far-reaching transformation of the regional innovation system is crucial for catching-up processes of regions which are latecomers in high technology sectors such as biotechnology.

LEO/MEO卫星网络基于动态路由策略的链路故障检测

卫星通信将成为未来个人通信系统的一个重要组成部分．LEO和MEO(low／medium earth orbiting)是卫星个人通信网络(S—PCN)的首选．针对使用星际链路ISL(intersatellite links)的LEO和MEO卫星系统，本文提出一种基于动态路由策略的卫星个人通信网络的链路故障检测方法，该方法适用于面向连接且采用基于ATM路由算法的卫星网络．该算法通过构建离散时间动态虚拓扑图(DT—DVTG)(discrete—time dynamic virtual topology graph)管理卫星能够自主地、实时地检测(identification)出最可能出现故障的链路范围，并通过快速的，自主的测试可精确定位故障链路．通过在卫星网络上的仿真表明，具有实时性、自主性、精确性且可能不占用或只占用很少的额外带宽．     

基于一种新拓扑图方法的n杆阿苏尔杆组的构型综合与分析

简要论述了目前杆组法在型综合和机构分析方面的现状,计算分析了杆组的特征值,提出了一种新的机构拓扑图表达方法和绘制规则,基于该规则可快速、准确地对全转副6杆、8杆组进行型综合,并给出了全部构型拓扑图。在此基础上给出了基于杆组结构特征的构型数组表示方法,通过一个实例利用上述方法对机构变换进行了分析。     

逆变回馈型再生制动装置滤波环节的改善和直流电容的选定

逆变回馈型再生制动装置是目前研究较多的一种再生制动能量处理方案。为减小再生制动装置回馈电网的电流的谐波含量,针对逆变回馈型再生制动装置中的滤波环节进行了研究和改善,并对直流电容选定以及对整个系统的影响进行了分析。并通过Matlab对改善后的系统进行了仿真和验证,结果表明,LCL滤波器的滤波效果优于LC滤波器,同时对直流电容的选择也提供了一定的参考。
