A theoretical model for the tensile strength of staples of wool was used to propose variables that could be measured on thirty six fleece samples from Romney sheep genetically selected on the basis of wool staple tenacity. Other variables that have been noted elsewhere in the literature were also measured. Nearly 75% of the variation in staple tenacity was described by average and minimum cross-sectional area of the fibres, and the relaxed length of the fibres held between the jaws of the instrument used to break the staple. The addition of staple length and variation in total length of the fibres in the staple improved this to almost 84%. The ultimate goal of the genetic selection was to increase the average length of fibres following carding (Hauteur and Barbe), which were also measured on the fleece samples, and the fibre, staple and sample measurements used in stepwise regression to reveal the determinants of length after carding. Variation in Hauteur was dependent on the total energy required to break the staple and the proportion of new tips present in the post-break region of the staple, yet as little as 52% of the variation was accounted for. Average cross-sectional area accounted for a further 3% of the variation in Hauteur but this was not statistically significant. Barbe was dependent on staple tenacity, which accounted for 48% of the variation. In hindsight, staple tenacity may not be an appropriate measure to genetically select sheep in order to improve fibre length after carding given the variables that affect these traits.  相似文献

The main aim of this paper is to investigate the feasibility of using the Wool HandleMeter as an economical and effective method to predict the handle characteristics of wool-rich woven fabrics suitable for winter suiting. The correlation analysis and step-wise regression method were used to determine applicable curve parameters extracted from the Wool HandleMeter in order to explain the handle characteristics of the woven fabrics by a series of multiple regression models. Moreover, an independent set of woven samples was selected to validate the regression models on the basis of the Kawabata Evaluation System for Fabrics, subjective handle evaluation and the formability index FFAST. The results showed that the Wool HandleMeter together with the developed regression models is an excellent starting point for the simple evaluation of handle characteristics of wool-rich woven fabrics and can be the basis for further development of the Wool HandleMeter for woven fabrics.  相似文献

利用相关表面性能测试方法对紫外线照射前后羊毛织物的表面化学组成、亲水性和微观结构进行表征。结果表明,紫外线照射过程可能是部分破坏了羊毛织物上具有疏水特性的胱氨酸和二硫键及非极性的C-C键,并同时提高了表面羟基、含N基团和C-O键的含量,使织物的亲水性能得到增强,且在紫外线照射羊毛织物静态水接触角降低、毛效提高的结果中得到证实;在低功率、短时间的处理条件下,紫外线照射羊毛织物引起的化学刻蚀未对纤维表面形貌及结晶区结构造成明显变化,仅略微提升了羊毛织物的粗糙程度。综合紫外线照射对羊毛织物表面理化性能的影响,认为该方法利于毛纺染整加工。  相似文献

A composite antibacterial agent of Ag-loaded nano-SiO2 was prepared by adsorption methodology and grafted on wool surface. The antibacterial performance of the antibacterial wool fibers was tested for different concentration of composite antibacterial agent, contact time with germs and washing time. The content of the composite antibacterial agent grafted on wool fibers was easily controlled by varying the antibacterial agent concentration in the grafting process. The results showed that antibacterial activity increased with the increasing concentration of the composite antibacterial agent. The antibacterial wool fibers grafted 4.3% of composite antibacterial agent was highly effective in killing test bacteria and had excellent water-resisting property.  相似文献

制备了一种水溶性聚氨酯,其制备过程是:首先按NCO/OH=2(mol)配比合成聚氨酯预聚体,然后在助溶剂存在下,与NaHSO_3水溶液混合,预聚体中NCO端基被NaHSO_3封闭,即成为聚氨酯水溶液.影响NCO基团封闭率的主要因素有:助溶剂种类、NaHSO_3/NCO比、溶液固含量等.将水溶性聚氨酯用于羊毛防缩整理,防缩效果达到IWS机可洗标准.  相似文献
